I had tapas in the UK, and these are better, if you can believe that. My favorite item is probably the green curry meat balls. It’s going to be a regular spot, for sure.

Loved this little place! The food was fresh and the service was good. Great prices for tapas. We ordered the brussle sprouts roasted with cranberries and pecans if you don’t like brussle sprouts I almost guarantee you will love these ones! They have quite the selections of tapas. The drinks are fantastic as well, they are strong and creative. We will definitely be going back!

Good place to hang out for a few hours with friends while munching on different things and enjoying some unique cocktails. The wait staff was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was fun. The Crab Cream Cheese Stuffed Deviled Eggs and Amarillo Rolls seemed to be the favorite. The Fresh Smashed Roasted Corn And Smoked Bacon Guacamole was also a hit as was the Texas onion bacon Jam. The Seared Brussel Sprouts are on the sweet side and weren’t as tasty but really everything was pretty good. It is definitely a place worth checking out.

Not a place to take your 7 yr old son and 4 yr old daughter, lol. The tator tots were a huge win. We actually ordered a 2nd helping, but everything else didn’t go over well with the kids. My husband and I thought it was aright… probably a place we should have tried on a date night. Our waitress was super nice and helpful, so NO complaints there.

I stumbled upon Tex Tapas tonight and was pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was so friendly! We had the Brussel sprouts, tater tots, meatballs, and the Amarillo roll and it was all so good. They were also having a wine special — half off bottles of wine plus a free dish with the wine purchase. I will definitely be coming back!

Someone had mentioned the lack of gluten free options here. I had only been once so I couldn’t remember. I finally went back to compare it to the first visit and I have the same comments. The food is good. The flavors in all of our dishes were interesting and the food was made to order. If you are a carboholic, you will like this place. Except for the meatballs and maybe a salad, everything had gluten. They have daily specials which I appreciate. My issues are two fold. First, we ordered several dishes and asked them to be staggered. Before we knew it, we had four dishes on our table and had to ask them to stop for a moment. Second, I’ve mentioned this before and that is the wine. We asked for a taste before ordering a bottle and they brought out small rock glasses with old vinegary wine. They opened a new bottle for us and we noticed they put the open date on it. The wine itself was too warm and the glasses were thick. I guess they are not trying to lure a wine crowd. I’m not sure why it’s hard to do it right and to store and serve at the right temperature. Also to buy the correct glasses and to use argon gas to store the bottles to be sold by the glass. The quality and experience suffers greatly. We may be back but it’s hard to say. We like this type of place but it feels as if it’s catering to the college crowd, which is a shame. It stinks to compare these places to so many great tapas like places in other parts of the US where there is maybe a little more variety of food and wine done right. We will definitely not be ordering wine if we go back.

It’s so weird that even though this place is stuck right between an area i visit often i’ve yet to go in. Well i finally got my chance and it certainly won’t be my last. This place has a great feel to it. While it may seem wide open with not a lot to look at you start to notice that it really has a lot of character that no other place in Denton can offer. One of the biggest things is the price. Everyone should keep in mind that you’re eating tapas and with that comes a slight increase in price, but with that said i thought everything was perfectly priced and maybe even a little less than i would have thought. The drinks were darn good and went well with the whole theme. I just can’t speak enough about the food. Everything we had was great and i just love this place. Please take the time to go check them out!

So much fun! I’ve previously been scared off from tapas bars because I just didn’t know what to expect and didn’t want to be that dummy who didn’t know how to roll in fancy small plate environment. Fortunately, though, the nice waitress at Tex Tapas eased me into the experience and offered to order in waves, based on our hunger and preferences. She was patient and helpful as my table ventured through the colorful menu of mini morsels. The laid back Texas décor helps make it a comfortable and casual meal for even the most novice of tapaers. We started the evening with 3 of their signature drinks, all reasonably priced $ 5 – 8 each. At the table we had the snake juice, midnight cowboy, and a Deep Eddy mule with grapefruit vodka. The snake juice was served in a tall glass and really tasty. The midnight cowboy was a little too sweet for a before dinner drink, but I could see it going down as the perfect dessert pairing along side those devlishly good biscuit donuts. The Deep Eddy mule was as expected, light and refreshing. They’ve got drink specials and cheap LoneStar on tap, so they make it an affordable add-on to an already enjoyable meal. Over the course of the night, we dined on the following: pulled pork green chili fried bread(special), crab cream cheese stuffed deviled egg, truffle Parmesan crispy tater tots, the south padre roll, green curry pork meat balls, bahn mi buns, biscuit donuts. There wasn’t a single thing I didn’t like… everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The plate prices ranged from $ 5 – 8 each and we found the budgeting about 2 plates per person was enough to fill most adults. The show stoppers on that particular evening were DEFINITELY the green chili fried bread concoction, the tater tots, and the donuts. I could have passed on the deviled eggs– they just tasted meh, but we still cleared that plate, too! I’ve since been back and tried the rocky mountain roll, amarillo roll, watermelon & feta salad, and fried feta. My must haves list: truffle parmesan crispy tater tots, fried feta, biscuit donuts. Fill in the blanks with everything else! Spring for at least one special, because based on my two experiences, they’re always killer. Well done and welcome, Tex Tapas. I think you’re just what Lil’ d needs!

Stopped by on our way back to Dallas from Winstar. And so glad we did! Music and atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. And the food was amazing. First…we ordered the guacamole, which was the best I’ve ever tasted! It had roasted corn. Amazing! I ordered the roasted beet salad as I am now on the post-Thanksgiving diet. It was excellent as well, as was the Amarillo roll, South Padre roll, and meatballs we shared with the rest of the group. The best hands down was the Banana Bread Brûlée dessert. Words cannot describe this wonderful culinary creation.

Food was fantastic. Ordered 3 dishes and was plenty to share. Service was attentive and wonderful recommendations. Wasn’t too crowded both times but it should be.

Totally unique — there is not another place like this in Denton. Drinks are on point, whether it’s their delicious and boozy sangria or the Industrial Mule — one of the best versions of a Moscow Mule I’ve had anywhere. On top of that the food is outstanding and you can eat either a full meal or just come here for a few snacks and drinks. The tater tots are a staple and surprisingly the Brussels sprouts are too!!! Make sure you at least try those two! Overall just a cool place to hang out in that happens to have wonderful food and drinks.

Tried out Tex Tapas yesterday evening after accidentally stumbling on it around Halloween. So, in a nut shell, I’d say: good service, tiny menu, overpriced a tad, excellent food, confused atmosphere. The service was great, friendly and attentive! The menu is small but has some really unique items. I really wish they came in a two or four piece serving. Everything was three pieces that we tried so we had to cut something up every time. The food was tasty, pricey I think, like $ 5 for 3 deviled eggs. And the prices were all like $ 3.67 or $ 7.23 very exact numbers. That’s not a bad thing just different! The drink menu is large but pricey. I can walk down the road to oak street draft house and get the same draft beer for $ 3 less! So, maybe drink specials would set this place apart. As for the atmosphere, it’s kind of like a baroque barn. It’s different and I like it but staff wears t-shirts and tables wobble and I just don’t feel like I should pay $ 15 for a meal(it would take a few plates to fill you). So, maybe add some cheaper options or offer drink specials OR just dress up the restaurant and make it upscale and worth the cost. Last complaint, weird hours, I would love to go here after graduation or for lunch. I’ll be back though, this place has potential!

Really, really nice. Gotta try the Amarillo Roll. A collection of tasty Texas treats in a flour tortilla. The green curry pork meatballs were tangy and what I expected. But no clue what that had to do with Texas tapas. Drinks are respectably inexpensive and appropriate for Denton. Service was prompt and courteous. Will be back.

If you think a tapa is a cocktail hotdog or meatball on a toothpick you will be disappointed. The offerings on this menu are clever and complex with spot on flavor profiles. I seldom go out and find establishments that surpass my expectations… this one did and I’ll be back.

Wonderful experience of a tapas bar, done Texas style. The cocktails are unique and refreshing(my favorite is the Agave Sunset, but the white sangria is also a contender), the large number of taps will please any beer enthusiast, and the service and atmoaphere have both beem warm and inviting. But the tapas are the main evemt at this new Denton jewel. I have tried most of the selections and have found them all to each be an unusual and delightful experience. The seared Brussel sprouts are my lead favorite, but as I continue through the eclectic menu, that could change at any moment. Now all they need are some delicious, but appropriately sized dessert selections to top off their tapas… go visit soon!

A breath of fresh air in the taco and burger dominated Denton scene. I just stumbled across this place hidden between dan’s silver leaf and Rooster’s, and I’m surprised i hadn’t heard of it prior, considering how fast word travels in Denton. But this place is sure to be popular soon. The plates are small and best shared, as at any tapas bar, so order anything that looks good. We first had the watermelon salad with feta, balsamic reduction, and arugala. The sweetness of the watermelon with the salty feta and that bite of balsamic was amazing. A triumph. We had the smashed roasted corn and bacon guac and, while quite good — the bacon being something i had never thought of putting in guac but really acting like it belonged there — i just didn’t feel like it stood out from any guac you can get anywhere. Though the homemade crackers served with it were novel and delicious. Our second«wave» consisted of a roasted Brussels sprouts dish that climbed immediately to the top of my veggie list. Caramelized Brussels sprouts dance with«warm honey bacon», pecans(candied?) and something like cranberries. This was my favorite dish by far, but i already am biased towards anyone that can do brussels sprouts justice. Finally, we sampler the crispy feta. I wasn’t expecting much from this dish — maybe some crumbles in a bowl — but my expectations were exceeded. Two hearty slabs of salty feta cheese came out, crispy like their name, drizzled in some light honey glaze and garnished with grilled lemon. The feta is good on its own, though a bit salty. A squeeze of the lemon does the trick. All in all, unexpectedly delicious meal. And perfect for Denton drinking scene. Go there.

I tried out Tex Tapas today and was seriously impressed. I was really hungry going in and didn’t thinks a tapas menu would do the trick, but it certainly did. The prices are good enough that you and order 3 – 4 plates to split between two people and be full. My bf and I ordered two plates, which left us both satisfied. We tried out the green curry meat balls and the truffle parm tater tots. Both were amazing. The service was also exceptional. I will definitely be returning here.
