Y’all need to fix your Saturday hours on Google. It said y’all are open til 12am and that’s flat out wrong.

I’m not sure how this place stays open. We waited 15 minutes to even get our drinks and then the food was terrible. Would not recommend.

Came in last night with 2 other couples for a total of 6 of us. Half of us had the fish and chips. One had a pork chop. Someone ordered the cottage pie and someone else ordered the monte cristo. We all agreed the food was good. The batter on the fish was perfect. The tartar sauce was dilly and tasty. My minted peas weren’t minty though. They were perfectly crunchy though. Beer was cold and service was great. Nothing was outstanding to me but it was all good. I’d definitely go back and try some more options.

Love this place. Good vibe, good prices, friendly staff, with really good lamb curry. I would also recommend the bangers and mash, Gaelic chicken, Kobe sliders, and fried pickles. Also, their brunch is really good. $ 2 mimosas and amazing omelettes. I’m definitely coming back!

Waited almost an 1 and a half for a burger when it was practically dead. Came here because all the other places on the Square had an hour wait and was packed. this place was had so many seats available waiters were practically waiting on work. However it still took me a really long time to get a burger… The food was mediocre. Burger was compatible to burger king… if that’s what you want… just go to BK. Gave 2 stars cause waitress was pleasant and I like burger king.

Finally got the chance to stop in at The Abbey on the Denton Square and glad to add it to the list. We started with some Irish Whiskey Soda Bread which is a perfect appetizer. The dense, yet moist biscuits get you eager for the rest of your meal. There were 3 of us, and we ordered the English Breakfast, Fish N Chips and Gaelic Chicken. Of these, the English Breakfast(served all day) was good, the Fish N Chips were ok, and the Gaelic Chicken was awesome. The atmosphere is cool, the service is good and I would go back for the Soda Bread and Gaelic Chicken.

Love the English pub feeling in downtown Denton. We have been having lunch here for the past 5 years, overtime we visit the used book store a few doors down. The food is good, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is relaxing. They have a great selection of beer and drinks. Food menu is filled with yummy choices. Love the church pews as seating.

Normally, I’d give this place at least four stars, but I brought my friends who had never been there to it last week and it must have been an off day, because it wasn’t that great. The Irish soda biscuits were oddly flat and had a weird texture, unlike normal and my entrée was cold. And our waitress was oblivious.

I’ve been here a few times, but I’ve yet to post a review. I like this place. I basically lived here for 2 weeks after I had oral surgery. Their mashed potatoes are amazing! I also love the French onion soup, but it can be a bit salty at times. My go to meal is the Ribeye! Service is always good and accommodating

My work colleagues and I stayed in Denton during our business trip. We found the Abbey through Unilocal and decided to check it out for dinner. The restaurant was not very busy(it was a Tuesday evening) so we were seated right away. They had a nice selection of beers on tap and our server(Alec?) went through each of the flavor profiles since some of us had a difficult time deciding. Our server knew the menu well and made several good suggestions. We all decided to go with the lamb sandwich with a side of brussel sprouts. This meal did not let us a down! It was delicious and I think I may have found my favorite preparation of brussel sprouts. If you want great service, a nice hearty meal, a good beer, and a cool setting definitely check this place out.

A fantastic place to eat in Denton. The Abbey is a perfect mix of good food and ambiance. This is the type of place you got to spend an evening at so don’t expect a quick bite. But if you are looking to have a good night on the Denton square I highly recommend. The pork chops, fish and chips, buffalo blue balls, and Monte Christo are great.

I came here for a quick lunch with my boss and a coworker. At 12:30 on a beautiful Tuesday there was only 1 other table. This place is located on a bustling downtown square, with numerous people walking around. The menu was pretty extensive and it appeared that they served traditional English pub food. We each ordered a sandwich or a wrap that came with a choice of potato. I ordered the salmon wrap, my boss a club sandwich, and my coworker a different wrap. My coworker and I each subbed roasted Brussels sprouts in place of a potato dish for $ 1.99 extra. The food came out pretty quickly and the server was nice. Unfortunately I was not impressed with our meals. They were probably a decent lunch portion, but for the amount extra that I paid for the side, I expected more. The flavor was good for sprouts, though. My boss wasn’t impressed with his sandwich, although it was a typical club with white bread. As for my salmon wrap? The salmon was good but there wasn’t enough of it, and the whole wrap was dry and pretty unflavorful. I wanted to ask for a dipping sauce or something, but unfortunately our server never came back to check on us, so I had to eat it as it was served. This place wasn’t bad, by any means, but I have truly had better and probably wouldn’t be back.

The Abbey Inn has been on the Denton downtown square for a long time and I just now got around to trying it. I can’t believe I didn’t hate it like I do most of the tourist garbage on the square. I went for lunch last Sunday with some friends because the new coffee shop was too crowded. That’s ok because«I don’t need to hear twats typing on laptops.» Not my quote. There were a lot of things on the menu that sounded reasonably good so I had a harder than normal time choosing. I chose the least offensive thing I could find on the menu that couldn’t be too horribly screwed up(just in case) which was the portobello sandwich. It did not suck. I was amazed at its taste. The mushroom(s) were sautéed well and there was some sort of relish and mayo on it. The combination of which was really good. I got the steamed veggies as a side to counter balance the big ass bun/bread of the sandwich. Steamed veggies are steamed veggies for the most part, but these seemed to be fresh. My kiddo had the mini bangers and loved them. The thick cut chips that came with were also pretty damn good. One of my friends with us got the Scottish Breakfast and reported it to be pretty good. He’s British so I will take his word on that. The décor is sort of funny in a Monty Python and the Holy Grail kind of way with faux stained glass and various UK looking flags that were all unknown to me. It’s also damn dark in there which is fine with me and I don’t recall seeing a tv anywhere so not having to suffer tv drivel while I’m trying to eat and have a conversation is a huge bonus. The waitress we had was a nice chick but I felt like she was a close stander. You know, like, a person who doesn’t understand the personal bubble. The tables in the place are relatively close to each other so I will give this a pass and blame a possible lack of standing room for her. So far out of all the places around town that annoy the piss out of me, I can say with confidence that Abbey Inn is not one of them. The only thing keeping it from being a legit British pub is that«it doesn’t smell like stale beer and urine.» Also not my quote.

Wonderful service and fantastic food! Large portions, variety, unique flavors– this was a lovely dining experience. I had the pepper encrusted pork chop, which is delightful. I also enjoyed the bread pudding. My only complaint is the sweet tea, which was very weak.

I rated this place 5 stars for several reasons: I’ve been around 4 times and the service was always very good. I LOVE the variety of food and extensive menu selections some of which are fun to try because I’ve never heard of them before & I like trying something new from time to time. Everything I have had was delish. Portions are good sized. They offer a full bar & the location on the square is perfect for dinner & drinks on a date or out with friends. College Guide Magazine usually has by one get one entrée half price which made it even more affordable :-))

As fate would have it, my journeys led me back to The Abbey. As promised in my original review, I was in the area and I popped in for some grub. I was in a happy mood as I had just won a couple bills at the casino. It was a gray white overcast cool day. Perfect for a good soup or stew. I ordered the cottage pie. Their take on a Shepard ’ s Pie. It was good. I’ve had better. Considering where i was they nailed it pretty good. My problem with the pie was it had too much mashed potatoes. They need to balance that out a little better. The service was still friendly, but, a bit on the slow side. I still like like them and will definitely pop in again if I’m ever in the area.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Denton. Everything I’ve tried has been unique and interesting. Classic pub style food and a great full bar. One of my favorite menu items is the Major Grey’s BBQ burger. Folks who know my tastes will tell you that I am a big ol burger snob. I’m picky, and I have a very high standard for burgers. And this place has knocked it out of the park every time I have ordered one from them. They have these little fried onions that they sprinkle on the top of the burger that makes it very tasty, and just out of the norm enough that it leaves a great impressions. That’s hardly the only reason to go to the Abbey though. The Bangers & Mash is good, the Full English Breakfast is good, I once had a steak covered with gorgonzolla cheese that was amazing. And I’m also a big fan of their Gaelic Chicken. Be sure to try the Pub Fries as well. Chives, Bacon, Cheese over thick fried potato wedges. Very good. Beyond their great food, they have a fantastic bar with my favorite spirits and a healthy selection of beers. I assume they have wines as well, but I’m not a big wine drinker. There’s also a healthy selection of mixed drinks and they are never snobby about asking for changes to their signature recipes. And they carry my favorite scotch which is always a treat. Most places have the 12 year version, but I prefer the 18 by a wide margin. This is just a great place to eat and I could not recommend them any higher.
