The one redeeming quality about 1430 Humboldt is that the staff is friendly and professional and maintenance is timely. Overall I find the apts to be overpriced for the location and amenities. The on site washer and dryer are coin operated and seem to break down every other week. Private parking is 50 dollars a month while daily people take up resident spots while grabbing voodoo donuts. The free wifi is great for twitter or Facebook but if you want to live stream any shows through Amazon Prime or Netflix it’s borderline useless. The location itself is close to some dive bars and questionable restaurants that aren’t terrible but the area does have your common city downfalls. There are homeless people on every corner, one man actually slept on a thrown out couch next to the back door for a solid week this month. The first month I lived here the road was closed off because the police thought a man with a gun who committed an armed robbery was hiding out. The building is constantly under construction. Working nights this makes it impossible to sleep. Their idea of forewarning you of upcoming projects or water being shut off is an email at 9 or 10 the night before with no completion date. They did build a nice patio which drunk kids now sit on all night long. They’re redoing a community room downstairs which now includes a microwave and couch and looks like an interior designer threw up on a color scheme wheel. Every time the water is shut off when it comes back on the hot water doesn’t work so ice baths before work is a necessity. During the day the construction workers prop the doors open for countless hours so anyone has access to the apt and currently this month the tenants are locked out of the front door. Other than that, not that bad.
