I have to say, I’m surprised at the variety reviews on this little place… Nonetheless, I give it 3 stars because every time I have been here, the food has been tasty and the waitstaff has been prompt and friendly. No, it’s not the most amazing breakfast you will find and no, it does not have a «catalog» size menu a-la-Cheescake factory, but you will find run-of-the-mill breakfast favorites that are bound to satisfy every type of eater. There’s awesome malted buttermilk pancakes that can be served with a variety of fruit if you so choose for those who like sweet brekkies. There’s the usual stand-by egg dishes and sausages and accoutremonts for the creatures of habit And lastly, there’s a skinny-egg sandwich(egg whites) served on whole wheat, with avocado, tomato and half-slice of cheese and grilled without butter for the health-conscious. All in all, a nice little place with reasonably priced, familiar breakfast items.

The breakfast here didn’t match up to my standards. I don’t really even know if I do have breakfast standards, but the food here was ok. The menu was small, with not a lot of choices. That in itself was disappointing. Regardless I got the pecan pancakes which didn’t taste like anything good, just a lot of pecans in them. I did have a bite of my friends breakfast burrito, and that was pretty tasty.

Every Wednesday a group of friends and I meet for coffee @ 7am. We have been meeting for 10 years and we look for new and great places to eat around the DU area. We stumbled across Dino’s Soda Bar and loved it!!! Well that is to say that we loved it only twice. You see, the sign on the door says that it opens at 7am. This is not true. We have attempted to go there and the last 4 times we have arrived @ 7am, the lights where out, and the doors where locked. When open, the breakfast burrito is one of the best, but you can’t really get a breakfast burrito if you go at 7am. I don’t mind if they don’t open until 8 or 9am but PLEASE don’t put on your sign that you open at 7am for breakfast and you really don’t. I have been disappointed too many times to go back and that is sad since I really do think that they have one of the best breakfast burritos in town.

I’m sorry little soda bar. Stopped in after Unilocaling for lunch. I tried the Chili dog, and regret it. I wish i had just made it at home and saved the money. The ice cream? Okay… it is good homemade stuff. It is nothing spectacular but it was good. Denver seems to lack this sort of non-franchised restaurant. I really want to say great things about the few they have but i was not impressed.

Dino’s makes their own ice cream and they have some really unique flavors. Don’t just go for the desert though… go for a great lunch. Even without a side of french fries, they make the best cheeseburger in Denver. I am also very addicted to their Oriental Salad with chicken and ginger dressing. I love this place! Make sure you have plenty of time, because it takes a while for them to make everything, but it’s well worth the wait!
