To be fair, it’s probably about 2.5 stars(2 seems a bit harsh, but the description of «meh, I’ve experienced better» is about accurate). I sampled the beer cheddar soup and it was pretty bland. I opted for the Thai coconut curry, which was pretty tasty. My order was the ½ sandwich and soup combo, which was almost $ 10 without any drink. That’s pretty steep for ½ a sandwich and 8 oz of soup. My sandwich was a turkey with«pesto» spread, which I didn’t end up eating because the«pesto» was actually mayonnaise with some basil. Can’t do mayo. Finally, when I asked for crackers, I was told they don’t carry them. A soup place that doesn’t provide crackers?

A coworker and I were downtown for work and wanted to try something new. Most places on 16th I have either been to, but Duck Soup was a new one for me. I looked over the menu and couldn’t decide on what I wanted to eat. The options between soups and salads are a bit overwhelming. It took me a while to finally settle on the chili with bison and the blt sandwich. They were set in front of me, and my mouth started to water. Both were amazing. The bison chili in particular had great flavors. Just the right amount of heat and consistency. I love the bell peppers and bison. Love this place and their soup and sandwich options.

I was underwhelmed. The duck soup was tasty enough with nice textures, but lacked any seasoning that I could discern. It wasn’t very hot, either. There could be a few more stools to sit at on the inside. The generously endowed patio doesn’t serve well on a winter’s afternoon. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and attentive. I might give it another try because it is quick and convenient, but it’s nothing to write home about.

This is a great lunch spot right on 16th st. The service is fast and friendly which is really nice if you’re needing to have a quick delicious bite. The sonoma chicken salad sandwich or wrap is really amazing, especially when you add some bacon on there. Seriously though, the bacon really ties the dish together Walter. If you’re in the area and need a quick warm up from some hot soup or a sandwich on the go I know this place can hit the spot for you.

I’ve been eyeing this place for a while now, so I finally decided to give it a shot. I went in during a lunch rush, so I wasn’t surprised by the line, which moved along pretty fast. I got a cup of the Beer and Cheddar soup. The flavor was just okay, but the texture was awful. It was grainy like it had separated. The only think I really enjoyed was the roll that came with it, but it did taste like a Hawaiian roll so… Either way, this place was just underwhelming and I felt I over paid for the portion size I received. I will be willing to try something else to give them another shot at a fair review.

Definitely disappointed. Unreliable service — they usually get things wrong. Sub-par soup(except for the Thai Coconut Curry, when it hasn’t sold out). The Kale Sausage soup was watered down broth with some bland sausage and kale floating around. No flavor. Be wary of this place and keep expectations low.

Like one of the reviewers below, I was underwhelmed. Soup is my favorite food, hands down, so on my recent trip to Denver, I wanted SO much to love this place. Sadly, the soups are just bland. I tried both the portobello and the duck soups and they did absolutely nothing for me. The vegetables in my duck soup were hard and barely cooked; I imagine that’s why the broth lacked flavor(you really need to «marry the flavors», which means, all ingredients need to be cooked together; also, herbs and spices are a good thing to add…). Ducksoup, you have such a great idea with this place! But please — hire a new cook! Your server staff is wonderful, so keep them :)

The staff here are incredibly nice. They are friendly, and let you try samples of the soup before choosing one. I will definitely be coming back here again, as every soup tasted delicious but I could only get one.

Came here when the line for Zoup was too long! Glad I did! The variety was very interesting. I had the employee recommend my meal and it was awesome! Very friendly staff and a great menu. I highly recommend this if you are in the neighborhood.

Very clean establishment. The staff was willing to help guide me through the menu and all of there options. I ordered the Caesar spinach wrap with a side of fruit and honest peach tea. Everything was very good and very fresh. The establishment was clean and organized. Nice to have a quick and healthy option near work!

Yuck! Sorry that I wasted my money and time. The duck soup tasted like dirty feet. Why they would name the place after something so gross, is beyond me! My friend also found it inedible! The tomato soup was more line tomato paste than soup! We spent $ 60.00 on 3 cold sandwiches, some nasty soup, and 3 bottles of iced tea. Don’t waste your money. When I tried to exchange it, they said they had already put the soup away for the night! Wish I could give lower than 1 star.

First of all, Denver is such a cool city. I hadn’t been there and we were driving through and wanted soups and salads for lunch. we both got the Thai coconut curry soup which was so good. They let us try any soup we wanted and that’s what we both ended up choosing. I also was able to ask for it with no potatoes which was great for me. My mom got a salad with hers that she loved and I got a roast beef sandwich which was really good too. The people that worked here were so kind and really made the experience great. Don’t forget to check in and you get a free soup with bread! Get the cheddar biscuit!

I am underwhelmed. I got a raving recommendation from a coworker who stands by the fact that he has enjoyed everything he has had there, so maybe it was just what I ordered. There was a huge line, but it went very quickly and the staff were really friendly. The food wasn’t bad, it just was’t something that makes me want to go back there again. I ordered the Garden Tomato soup(very generic, which is great for a tomato soup) and the Bourbon Turkey Bacon grilled sandwich. The sandwich was nothing to write home about. The bread had a good consistency to it, not too thick which some places have a difficult time doing with focaccia. However there was very little meat. A little chicken, and even less bacon, a few teeny slivers of red onion, and a giant slab of gouda. Don’t get me wrong, I love gouda. But when it’s a large, thick slab of it on a sandwich that is in fact not grilled, but only heated, it takes over every other flavor. The chicken alone seemed to have a decent flavor, but there was so little of it on the sandwich it didn’t make a difference. Another small misstep is that the to-go soup was served in a normal cup, but had a fountain drink lid on it. This made it VERY difficult to not only open, but open without throwing your soup everywhere. Each time I tried to pry the lid off, it just sunk into the soup. I may try this place again, but it will likely only be to try the variety of soups they offer, as it is clearly what they’re known for.

Really wanted to like this place. Tried for the first time today. Got a ½ and ½ combo. My Portobello wrap was incredibly soggy. It was a mess. I imagine the flavors were fine, but I really didn’t eat much of it since it was falling apart. Beer cheese soup had good flavor but weird consistency. It was very chunky, which is not how I’ve ever had beer cheese soup before(and I’ve had plenty!). As I was almost done with the cup, I realized the consistency reminded me of vomit a bit and couldn’t finish the rest… Their menu was intriguing and friendly service. I’ll probably try again, maybe I just ordered the wrong items.

This is one of those spaces where new businesses go to die. Ducksoup is the latest venture in the space, and since it is so convenient to my workplace, I really hope it lasts. I tend to go early(11a), so I never have trouble with the lines and waiting, but I can see with the way they are set up how it would get crazy as the crowds fill up the place. Plus there really isn’t much of a seating area. I find the servers very friendly and upbeat. The food is fresh and pretty good. I like it and it goes in my regular lunch rotation.

I’ve been here a few times now. The service is great — friendly and helpful staff. They let you sample all the soups if you want(but I try not to be that guy). Soups are pretty good but I agree with many that it’s over priced. I’m guessing it has something to do with the rent in that area but maybe not. I also had the chicken salad and it was delicious. I do wish they’d change up their soup menu a bit. Everytime I’ve been there it’s been the same offerings — but that could be a coincidence. They always have several, labeled gluten free options which is sooper helpful. I know, I can’t believe I just typed that either. Don’t judge. It’s a great place to grab lunch for work but there isn’t a ton of indoor seating. I’m sure I’ll be back.

Went here for the first time today. This spot is cursed I think. No restaurant succeeds here. I ordered the portabello bisque. It tasted amazing! But an hour later I had a headache and could barely swallow. The sodium in one bowl of soup was through the roof. I eat a pretty clean diet and rarely buy lunch so I know it was the soup that did it. Again, it tasted great, but I can do without the sodium hangover…

Duck soup, why aren’t you amazing? I tried and tried, you are so close to my work and are amazing in theory! But, sadly the awkward design layout and gross tasting salads are unsuccessful. I tried the Caesar and the Asian as well as sampled some soups in my few experiences here. Do people really think these items taste good? I thought, maybe I just haven’t found the salads or soups for me yet. Well I’m not going to gamble for $ 7 a pop any more. The Caesar dressing tasted wrong and it took way too long to prepare such a simple salad. The Asian one had huge chunks of low quality cold uncut chicken. It was not good, and actually bummed me out. I tried a couple of soup samples and none of them inspired me to order any. Too bad, I could really go for a great(even in this price range) salad spot on this end of the mall.

I’ve been here a few times and I like it. I just wish it was a little bigger so they could have tables where I could sit down and enjoy a meal with others. I’ve had the cream of celery, which I didn’t think I would like until I tried it. Celery is pretty flavorless, but the soup was tasty! And the sweet potato chipotle was amazing! The winter squash bisque was really good too. I haven’t had their sandwiches or salads; I don’t find them too interesting, but I’m happy with the choice of soups and that’s what keeps me going back. I also love that they let you taste them before ordering so you’re not stuck with something you don’t like.
