This is by far the best, safest dollar scoop Chinese food option to choose from. Never mind the difficult way to navigate through the parking lot, or even making it there through the roaring traffic. Ho Mei 2 does not disappoint. They are most importantly friendly and never rude to their customers. You can definitely see a huge difference between the main location on Peoria St. And Federal. Their chicken isn’t soggy, it’s usually fresh. If they do run out, the staff who finishes the cooking also is fast paced and delivers the food before anything. The grab cheese wontons are the most astonishing, as they are freshly baked, filled with creamy goodness. The area is constantly getting cleaned and there is a huge space to sit in. Please, I recommend this location to anyone who enjoys quick and delicious Chinese food.

Flavorless. It’s cheap so it has that going for it but spend a couple more dollars to get more appetizing Chinese food from elsewhere.

The food is bland and mediocre. If my kids are craving chinese food, this is a good option. It’s cheap and bland. The terrible part is, they charged us over $ 200 for a $ 20 meal. When my boyfriend went back to complain and get his money back, they pretended they spoke no English. At the same time, there was a person there complaining they had overcharged his meal. This seems to be the norm? So count your change and double check your credit card copy. Or just avoid it all together. We will never go back. The issue with the money is still ongoing — he has to go through his bank to receive the refund since the management was completely unhelpful. Trust me, this food is not good and for $ 1 a scoop, they would remember a $ 200+ order. Stay away!

It’s a good spot not bad at all. But there are places with higher quality with the food. But I still go here sometimes lol

ask yourself this… quality or quantity? the amount is great for the price but the taste has went down hill over the years… A year ago it would have got a 3 or even 4 from me but no… not anymore

I stopped by while driving back home. Was surprised that your able to get rice, two sides, wontons and a drink for under $ 5. Food was cheap and large portions were given. The rice was dry and tasteless. The sesame chicken tasted sweet but didn’t taste fresh. Peppered shrimp was only thing that I finished. Overall you pay for what you get for.

Ho Mei, or «homie» since its in Park Hill, is your typical Chinese scoop place. Cheap food, huge portions, fair quality. I’m as surprised with other peoples’ apparent high expectations as I am that I’m reviewing this place. If you actually want good Chinese food Pepper on Colfax is delicious. If you want to gorge yourself on salt and MSG for $ 3, this is the place.

I’ve been meaning to stop in here for awhile as I live close by. So today after some quick shopping I stopped by and grabbed a combo. ½ fried rice with ½ lo mein for my sides and then orange chicken and teriyaki chicken with 2 crab wontons and a soda, all of that was $ 5 after tax. They give you a lot of food and it actually looked and smelt pretty good. I started eating it and it was bland. The fried rice tasted like regular plain white rice, the lo mein like lightly sauced pasta noodles, the chicken dishes were ok. At about mid way point thru the meal I was thinking a 2 or 2.5 rating would be fair due to it being editable and ok for the price and quantity. And then I bit into a bone in my orange chicken. A pretty good sized bone. So. If you want some very mediocre food, and a lot of it, feel free. If you’re looking for good food you’re going to want to look somewhere else.

Food is good, but server is very rude and gives attitude. They treat customers like they are here to steal.

There are two types of Chinese food places… the tablecloth kind where you expect a decent full service meal, and the cheap-ass buffet/combo platter joint. This is not the former. But after trying a bunch of plain-ass scoop buffets in metro Denver, this isn’t too bad. In fact they do enough business as to keep a regular selection of proteins, from shrimp to beef to pork and chicken. The nearer«scoop place» only has chicken offerings. I also like that they food is a tad flavorful. Again, not as good as sit-down Chinese, but compared with other steam buffets, this place offers some kickers. The staff can seem mean/curt/rude but really just want to keep the line moving. Get stuffed for $ 5 or split it into 2 meals.

The food was a good value. The server was a rude b#%€h. They gave me one napkin with my meal when I went to ask for another you would think they were shit from a golden dragon. She very reluctantly peeled me another from there cheesy hoard. They won’t have to worry about it next time, I won’t be back.

Me and my friend headed here a few days ago. We read the previous reviews and were ecstatic to try America’s «Third Worst Restaurant.» Tons of reviewers have rated this place incredibly low and I can understand why, but I’m rating differently. Upon entering the place the thought crossed my mind«it’s a dollar scoop place, don’t have exceedingly high expectations.» We both ordered the $ 4.50 combo meal which includes your choice of rice or LO mien, 2 entrees, your choice of egg rolls or wontons and a drink, can’t beat that with a stick! They were putting in fresh sesame chicken, so I went with that along with orange chicken, lo mien and wontons. The food was incredible for the price. There were tiny bits that were cold and the soda was warm, that’s the only reason why my review is shy one star. Yes, the cheese is runny in the wontons but it doesn’t bother me. I haven’t been in three days and I cannot feel a hint of sickness. As a broke college student, I enjoyed all this food for the price. Check it out!

okay i know its’ cheap, okay i know it’s a lot of food… but it could be a lot better and it isn’t…if you are broke and hungry it’s a good deal but this is mostly trash food cooked poorly. if you are thoughtful and consciously decide to order their more expensive items. it gets a little better but not much. i sometimes get take out here when i am on my way to work and have forgotten my lunch, i had gotten the orange chicken last time and it tasted«okay» but i noticed there is no chicken, it is fried bread in a sauce, no chicken at all just bread… huhmm i thought to myself … let me got to Panda buffet next time. at Panda i ordered the exact same thing and compared the quality, and price. Panda was more expensive but Panda used real chicken meat in its orange chicken, it tasted of chicken in a sauce… also Panda had an excellent fried noodle lo mein, not cheap spaghetti noodles but real oriental noodles, it was«„spotlessly“» clean and also a lot of food, YES i paid few bucks more but actually enjoyed my meal, if you are into dives and dumps and don’t know better go ahead and rave about this shit hole otherwise eat there when you must only… yet I still stop and get lunch on my way to work but i try and choose items that seem as if they are not designed for overweight fried food lovers.

Look, this is a «dollar a scoop» Chinese place, not the Canton Palace in Hong Kong. Here is what I know: I have been coming here for about a year now and the place has never steered me wrong. Every dish I have had is not just palatable, but generally enjoyable. The portions are huge. You get enough for a meal and a half for less that $ 5. If you are frightened away by appearances(or the neighborhood clientelle) don’t bother coming in. However, if you want a better than average, quick Chinese meal for less than $ 5, this is an amazing bargain. Sheshe, and happy eating!

Like one of the other reviews said, most people that have posted a review of Ho Mei have completely unrealistic expectations of a «per scoop» Chinese place. You’re not going to be eating gourmet food, but for less than $ 5 for more food than some people can eat… you can’t beat it. I’ve been here a few times and I’m never disappointed. Last time I went in I had sesame chicken and beef with broccoli, both of which were fresh and good. The eggrolls are pretty gross, but who cares when you’re getting over a pound of food for $ 5? If you want authentic, gourmet Chinese, go somewhere else. But if you want a cheap, filling,(mostly) tasty meal give them a shot.

I think most reviewers may have unrealistic expectations for a scoop chinese restaurant. It should be understood that you’re probably _not_going to get top quality food, but it’ll be cheap as all get out. You can get food here by the scoop; at $ 1.35/scoop. Honestly, I’ve never done that as I just go with the combo meal for $ 4.29. That includes a hefty portion of rice, two entrees, an eggroll or wonton, AND a drink. FORLESSTHANFIVEDOLLARSPEOPLE. It’s a legitimate pound and a half of food. They fill the box to the brim. It’s not really a scoop per entrees. It’s more like«Hey, here’s a big scoop, and here’s another, oh and let me give you 3 more litlte scoops to try and pile it as high as gravity will allow». If I were to drop my box of food I’d probably bruise my toe. Clearly you get a lot of food for your money. Now is it any good? Some yes, and some no. You’ve been warned. I think their fried rice is actually some of the best that I’ve had in the Denver metro area. I can’t comment on their noodles as I always get the rice(see previous sentence). I’d be willing to say that 1⁄3 of the entrees are good, 1⁄3 are just OK, and the last 1⁄3 you’d be best to avoid. It’s tough to say which 2⁄3 are acceptable. I think it varies from day to day and also personal taste. I typically love the«happy family» dish at chinese restaurants. Yea, Ho Mei’s is more like«Sad Family». Not good. Pick and choose until you find a combination that works for you. At $ 1.35 a gamble, you could afford to try everything in the entire restaurant for less than $ 20. I personally like the fried rice with orange chicken(not sesame… sesame is on the left, orange is on the right), and BBQ pork. Give it a shot. It’s not _that_scary, and you could feed an entire family(or a single fluffy person) for less than $ 5.

I prefer Ho Mei No3. This one isnt bad. They are friendly and the give you a decent portion. Its reasonable. The food is tasty but i felt as if it could of been hotter. It was a lil warm while i was eating it. The Egg Roll was hot. Im partial to the other one because they always give you extra soda and extra food. I will become a regular at this one though when im on this side of town. The restaurant is clean and thats a big plus. They do charge a Qtr for Sweet and Sour Sauce though. I did have to contact the Health Department because my chicken didnt feel hot as it should of been. The Health Dept contacted me and said the food on top wasnt as hot as it should of been. But Beneath it the food was held at the recommended 135 Degrees temp. They wrote them up for the food being to cool on the top and suggested they get better up to date Heatlamps to keep the food on top at the proper temp.

I had an awful, awful idea today to actually go out and eat the cheapest chinese food at the dingiest place I could find. Well, I accomplished that and then some after hitting this place up. There’s a sign outside that says«Combo meal + Soda $ 3.99». It’s buffet style inside and everything looks somewhat edible. Don’t bother asking what things are because the people working can’t understand a word you say. I do know a few things-the lo mein is actually a form of spaghetti, the cream cheese wontons are just that-liquid filled cream cheese in a wonton. The place is depressing, and I was ashamed to even be seen in here. I wanted to clutch my stomach and curl up in the fetal position after eating here. The best part of my meal-the sprite and the white rice. Oh, and they actually charge you for sweet and sour/hot sauce. No kidding.
