I have decided this place is 4 star. consistently good food at a decent price. everyone in my house agrees that we like it more than tacos y salsa(although tys is good too)

Whoa, this place is perfect. Cheap tacos, cheap booze, cute waitresses, and always a guy who buys you shots as he tells you a story about the time he witnessed Los Zetas murdering his entire family. Oh, and Mexican karaōke. Never actually been here in the daytime(unless staggering out at sunrise counts). I absolutely love how terrified whitey is of this place despite it being one of the warmest, friendliest joints out there. Bring on the Reconquista, I say.

I showed up here a few weeks ago, walked in and WHOA! the place is completely different! in a very fresh way. A fun family bought the place, the renovations are gradual but the place looks more like a restaurant already. I was informed that they would be keeping most of the old menu but also adding more of their own dishes. They have renamed it ‘7 leguas grill’ i believe. My tacos were just as delicious as they were with the previous owner. The salsa bar still rocks! and they are open until 2am on the weekends!!! also, usually weekend nights they have a vertical broiler spit going outside on the sidewalk with pastor in it. as i will miss the nice couple running it before, I welcome the up-beat young fun vibe that now lives in this space.

This place was disgusting. I am a taco eating fool and I love great Taquerias. This is not one of them. Keep going down Colfax and try one of the many other places. I think this place is a front for drug dealers because there’s no way they sell enough of those shitty tacos to keep open.

I wish this place was good, They have pics of the al pastor spit on the building, but the al pastor tacos were sub par. Not even close to how they should be. I will not be going back… It’s a shame.

My boyfriend is obsessed with this place, so we go a lot. The food is good, standard taqueria fare. Not mind-blowing, but cheap and solid, and lots of options. They include avocado slices with the quesadilla, for free! The best part is the salsa bar. There are like 12 options in there. The verde is great, and they have a new orange-colored one that is awesome(I’m not sure what’s in it, but it’s good). Some people have said it doesn’t look fresh, but I beg to differ. The colors are bright and the texture is right on. And they tend to run out a lot, which means they must be replaced often, so it can’t be too old. And they’re very generous with the to-go containers, so we can load up to our hearts’ content. Just be careful, they’re all very spicy. The dark red(habanero?) one will cause you to break out in a sweat, no matter how high your spice threshold is! The man that usually works there is really nice, and I’m happy to support his business. I wouldn’t say it’s worth traveling across town for(as there are good taco places all over), but if you live in the area, it’s great. It’s also across the street from a liquor store run by a very nice guy. You can park once and get your tacos and booze, then head home and enjoy! Only drawbacks: It’s a tad greasy(no «diet» option here), once in a while they’ll mess up the order(it’s all hand-written tickets), and I wish they had horchata.

Stopped here today to try a bacon breakfast burrito based on the reviews here. The burrito was ok, pretty bland, I chose not to spice it up due to the appearance of the salsa bar, nothing looked very fresh — even at 9 in the morning. My biggest problem was the general condition of the establishment, very dirty and messy. The outlet for the evaporative cooler is covered in filth and located over the food preparation area. I will not be back.

This place has good, authentic food and i really feel like it’s the real thing when I go there as half the place is devoted to selling cell phone cards to call Mexico. Salsa bar is nice touch. We tried margaritas and they were average. The menu does not list prices(which makes me suspicious that there are different prices for gringos) and the on asking prices, proprietor will tell you that everything is cheap. Then you order a few things and the tab is the price of a sit-down dinner at Benny’s. Yikes! I will definitely go back to try the breakfast burritos sometime as they open early for desayuno but I like Chris B put it, the place isn’t outstanding it is «servicable».

A friend and I stopped by TEC last weekend to try out their breakfast burritos. First of all, I was pleasantly surprised that they were open — on a sunday morning! So many great mexican places in my area are closed on sundays — boo! We ordered one bacon and one chorizo breakfast burrito. While we waited, we snagged some of their complimentary coffee, which was delicious… and spicy! Definitely a roast I hadn’t had before… yummm! The burritos came out a few minutes later and were really tasty. I was bummed that they weren’t spicy at all, but the flavors were great! The price was right and the service was very friendly. I’ll definitely be back!

A.MAZING. The tacos are cheap, delicious, and beat the hell out of Taco Bell tacos. They come with corn tortillas too, NOT flour tortillas. $ 1.50 for a freshly made taco with real carne and fresh salsa? YES. The salsa bar always is stocked with fresh, salsas picantes, chopped onions, cilantro, oh man, all that good stuff. Never had a burrito, but their tortas are HUGE. and delicious. Oh yeah, watch out for that barbacoa. It is delicious, but will have your lips on fire halfway through your taco, burrito, torta, whatever. The people behind the counter are always friendly as well.

This is a very serviceable taco joint on Colfax and Cherry. The salsa bar is good with some pretty spicy options. The breakfast burrito was good, not great. I am sure a craving will hit in the morning again and we will try it again.

I have only been here once so far for breakfast. Taco El Chorizo offers a great Chorizo breakfast burrito! The meat has a sweet flavor, authentic marinated meat with the deep red color that comes from paprika. I put in my order at the counter and waited a few minutes for my made to order burrito. As I was waiting, I investigated the scene. Tacos El Chorizo offers free drip brewed coffee which is a very nice bonus. No one that I can think of offers free coffee anymore, I was giddy with excitement. They have a pool table, a cell phone repair area, lots of booth seating and many random Mexican good for purchase. This random stop along Colfax Avenue was a fresh and exciting new grab and go breakfast restaurant I found. I think I found a winner.

Really, really good. Everything is made very FRESH. Unique place has a pool table and if you fancy yourself needing a new Cricket cellphone, evidently they sell those as well… lol. Ordered 2 tacos asada(4⁄5) and 2 chicken tacos(4⁄5). The chicken flautas(5⁄5) were delicious. This place and Tacos D.F. are by far the 2 best authentic taco places I’ve ever had. My total for all that was about $ 16 if I remember correctly. CHECKTHEMOUT. Yum.

I’m such a sucker for cheap mexican… Last week I was in here and had the chicken tacos… normally not a big fan but these things were great. really small, I could easily polish off 4 of them. salsa bar is a nice touch, not as big as tacos y salsas but still a good selection of condiments. I sat next to the family who owns the place as they were having lunch. They were all eating the menudo which I’m definitely getting next time. Parking situation is sort of sketchy.

It had been a while since I had last come to Tacos El Chorizo. In the meantime, I’ve discovered a number of great taquerias in town. However, Tacos El Chorizo is still one of the closest to my house, so it is always begging for a visit. The owners, who are the nicest people around, got some new signage, but the location and space still screams dive. There is always a few families or a group guys getting off work, chowing on some food. The selection of taco meats is pretty standard: al pastor, barbacoa, asada, pollo, carnitas, and adobado. Today, I went with a adobado burrito. What I like about their burritos is that they aren’t loaded with a bunch of filler. Just meat and beans. Also, the owner has you fill the burrito with the extras(such as salsa, onions, etc) that you like before conducting the final rolling of the burrito. The adobado was nicely cooked, juicy with not too much fat. My only gripe would be that it was seasoned a little too light.

Great place! I just moved to the area from Detroit, and I am rather hard pressed to find Mexican food of the same caliber as SouthWest Detroit(aka Mexican Town). Well, this place sure hits the spot for tacos. As others have said, there are no prices listed on the menu, the staff doesn’t speak much English, you will likely be the only gringo in there, and the place is kind of a dive. All of these reason make it attractive to me. I ordered three tacos to go for about $ 4.50. Their pastor brings me back to the time I spent in Mexico City(DF). Their salsa/toppings bar is really good too. I went around 4pm, so there was still a great selection. Whatever the red salsa is, be aware… it will burn your face off. An older woman took my order, and I’m assuming she’s the owner’s wife. I was able to flex my basic Spanish abilities and she was very nice about it. A little effort goes a long way. Anyway, I can’t wait to go back and eat some more! They had a pretty diverse and authentic menu. Real Mexican food isn’t all about fajitas and a pound of cheese.

Most of these people writing bad reviews of this place have no idea what the hell they are talking about. I grew up in El Paso, frequented Juarez and Chihuahua quite often and this place is about as good as it gets for tacos. Barbacoa, Asada, Carnitas, Chorizo, Pollo, etc… They got it all. Yes the place is owned by a Mexican family, yes they don’t speak a ton of English, yes the menu is in Spanish and they don’t have prices on it, yes the place is a dive, but 90 percent of the clientele is Mexican. Isn’t that a good sign??? When I walk into this place I feel like I am back in Juarez and the tacos are fantastic. They are served a-la-carte and you can doctor them up with their salsa bar(pico, tomatoes, jalapenos, and a wide variety of salsas). They even have Bohemia beer, but that won’t matter to most as they probably prefer Corona Lights with their Nachos Bell Grande.

Okay, so this is a little-known fact: since I moved here from San Francisco, I’ve been on the hunt for a burrito that comes even a little bit close to what I enjoyed regularly in Northern California. Every burrito I’ve had so far in Denver has fallen WAY short(not to mention people think I’m weird when I want the rice IN the burrito and NOT smothered thankyouverymuch). I love foil-wrapped burrito packages that I can eat on the go, even though I’m usually sitting in my living room. I’m pleased to say that Tacos El Chorizo has come the closest thus far on my search. It’s clear that I’m pretty picky when it comes to my burritos, and I’m also weird in that I usually just get a vegetarian bean and cheese burrito: beans, cheese, rice, lettuce, salsa fresca, sour cream, guac, hot sauce(s), and fresh cilantro. This is my favorite burrito. Though I got a few strange looks, and was asked to re-state my desires, the wonderful man at Tacos El Chorizo complied with my wishes and made me a great burrito! My only complaint was there was a little *too* much filling, which made it messy to eat at the end, but if that’s my worst complaint, it’s pretty good. :) Now, I will corroborate a previous reviewer who complained of no chorizo — this was the case for my visit as well! With«chorizo» in your name, you best have some chorizo in stock! My bf had to order carnitas because there was no chorizo. :(The good news is, they make their own chorizo in-house from scratch… so we will definitely be coming back to try it!

This place used to be a cool rib place with a really fun sign of ribs running. I decided to finally stop in to this mexican restaurant based on Unilocal reviews and frequent drive-bys. The menu doesn’t have prices on it, but they seem to have it all… tacos, tortas, burritos, shrimp cocktail, quesadillas, menudo, etc… They have chicken, pork, al pastor, tongue, and head! I decided to order a burrito as I was pretty hungry. I ordered a chicken and chorizo, and asked for rice instead of beans. The guy at the counter seemed like he understood, and also told me they didn’t have any chorizo… now WAIT! Your namesake of your restaurant is CHORIZO and you don’t have any? That’s almost like saying Las Margaritas doesn’t have margs, or Famous Pizza doesn’t have pizza! Anyway, got the burrito home and found no rice, and beans inside. Hmmm… Their salsa bar looked like most of the things had been there for a long time with dried meat sitting on the side. There was no one in there when I first got there too. Was this an off day or a normal occurance? There are much better places to get authentic mexican food in this town! Save your money and go to them!

The guys helping with the house remodel asked if I wanted to go to Tacos El Chorizo on Colfax and have lunch with them. I said, «Sure, I love that place.» They said, «No, you have not been there.» Instead of arguing off we went. Well as I walked in the owner recognized and greeted me(I guess not many blue eyes enter these doors). HA! I said, told you I have been here before(I could see my Cool factor go up a notch with the crew) and proceeded to make the decision between a burrito or taco. Here it is a tough job as everything they serve is really good. The concept is the same as the Taco Carts but the owner has combined two small store fronts to make room for tables and a pool table in the back; a mural is painted on the wall. You walk up and order, the menu is in Spanish and English, and then help yourself to condiments at the salsa bar. The offerings are tacos, quesos, burritos, and tortas with menudo served on the weekend. Last week when I went in to get a fix, I noticed the cooler was filled with tequila and beer. I made a comment about it and my friend the owner says, «Let me give you a shot.» Y’all it was hard to say no but I did have a meeting in less than an hour. So, I took a rain check. I will be back after work because I noticed all the Negro Modelos calling my name. And I know it will be cheap drinks here. Tip: Be brave and try the chichcarron burrito. For those not from Mexican or Southern decent, chicharron is pork rinds. However, some cook the fried treats in a gravy until they are a very strange texture. Ignore the texture and dig in, OMG it is heaven, especially smothered. There is street parking on Cherry and around the back are a few more spaces.
