My friends all love this place so I will have to go again but I was not impressed with this visit. The first beer we ordered came out flat, they did offer to replace it with a different beer, the nitro stout. The stout was fine but not great. There was only one bartender in the whole bar which explains the somewhat hurried service, I’m not sure if I would say the service was poor or that it was a function of the place being understaffed. The ambiance was fine, felt a bit like a neighborhood bar. The fries were solid, properly salted and thickly cut. The quesadilla was relatively plain but not bad per se. All in all, not a great experience, but I will come again based on my friends’ assurances that it’s usually

This used to be our go-to neighborhood place for a good burger and casual, kid-friendly meal. Unfortunately, recent menu changes have eliminated several of our favorites, as well as ALL gluten-free options, so we can no longer enjoy this place as a family. Sadly, we have gone from loyal customers to looking for a new place. It’s very disappointing be use the location is great and we really did enjoy the food and friendly service. We won’t be back unless the menu is re-done to be more accessible for all.

I love this spot. It’s a perfect neighborhood spot. We went here for nerds and ended up getting some food. The boneless wings were delicious and the turkey melt was pretty much one of the best I’ve ever had. Totally hit the spot. It’s a pretty expansive spot that hits the perfect blend between bar and restaurant and the service was pretty prompt and friendly. Will definitely be back.

You know, I gave it another shot and saw the light. All of their burger options can be had as franks instead(advertised as being made locally, which I believe), which is pretty brilliant, and I had the hog wild with chips. It was great. The price was great. The service was great. And the outdoor patio remains great. So there you have it. I was wrong. The Whittier Pub is a-ok.

I have been a regular at this restaurant since the day it opened. This is not the neighborhood bar I fell in love with anymore. Nearly the entire staff has changed, and the food has fallen off dramatically. There are still several great bartenders, but they are usually swamped for being understaffed. My biggest criticism is the food. Every time I eat here I wonder why I gave it another chance. Even burger monday hardly feels worth it to me anymore. It all boils down to quality and consistency. Hoagie bread has been stale, veggies soggy, and presentation and assembly is different every time. If order the same thing twice it should be identical. Attention to detail has gone out the window. I know it seems picky to expect that my avocado be evenly sliced and distributed, but random glops of semi-brown avo all on one end of a sandwich(or something similarly trivial but agitating) is now commonplace. For example, I’m a big fat american, but I should not be able to count the fries on my plate without even touching them. Fries are sooo cheap. There is no excuse for me feeling like I got ripped off on my french fry count. Menu items besides the sandwiches have suffered as well. I literally used to crave the boneless wings, but I don’t get them anymore. It’s a complete gamble on the amount of sauce, the size and quality of chicken cubes, and the heat and spice temperature. Sometimes they’re delicious. Most times they’re hardly warm, or totally soggy, or mostly tiny bits of fried crud instead of white meat chicken. The last time I went for nachos I felt like I got dry chips. It’s a shame the kitchen can’t live up to the great atmosphere.

Until recently I lived really close to Whittier and frequented often. The food is average, I recommend the bully or the heat wave with chicken and they often have a good local beer selection. Where Whittier drops the ball is in the service department. I grew to expect a 10 minute wait after sitting down for a server to bring water and menus. The condiments are usually empty and you should again expect to wait for several minutes for someone to even check on you. Same situation with the bathroom, usually out of toilet paper and paper towels. The guy who is the manager/head bar tender is awesome. Always incredibly nice but there seems to be a disconnect between his attitude and that of his servers. Whittier has a lot of potential and the neighborhood is booming, hopefully they can decide what the vibe of this place should be and adjust accordingly!

Gary took great care of us. He literally took 60 seconds(I timed him the second time — 57 seconds) to bring us our drinks on a Saturday night. Even though it wasn’t too busy, I appreciated his attention and prompt service. Sometimes people slack off when it’s slow and Gary did nothing of the sort. The food was delicious pub style food. Definitely recommend!

I really love the idea of a neighborhood pub, and the ambiance here is great — casual, but a nice interior, outdoor seating, good beers, and decent food. The outdoor patio is also a great spot for happy hour in the sunshine. We have been here for happy hours, birthday dinners, and to watch football as well as the women’s world cup — great places for each event! As other reviewers note, portions are not huge, but I think they are fine — and it is not overpriced, which is nice. I have had a couple of the burgers — the Bully with blue cheese and bacon is my favorite, and I am always a fan of place with onion rings. Apps are also good when you are just there for happy hour — my husband gets the sriracha wings, and I also think the quesadilla can hit the spot. Other reviewers noted the servers — I have never had an issue although I will note that they are not overattentive. All in all, the Whittier is nothing fancy, but its worth it to have a comfortable spot in the neighborhood to meet for a drink and/or some food after work or to watch a sports game. I will continue suggesting this as a spot to meet in the Whittier/North City Park area!

This was a great place to eat and kill time in between my son’s basketball tourney at Manual H.S. — and it is a gem to the neighborhood. Food was delicious, with friendly, welcoming service. I definitely pushed the patience our server though with one or two too many questions about gluten free ingredients for my son. Glad they had a delicious gluten free bread offering.

Mediocre is the best way to describe this place. The service was kinda slow and the food was decent, but nothing special. The drinks were good and fairly inexpensive so that was the redeeming quality.

As a local, neighborhood pub, this place would get 5 stars. The staff is friendly and attentive, although they are usually understaffed, which isn’t the servers’ fault– they still serve on, with a smile and«witty» jokes(get it?) The beer list is pretty good, and isn’t too crazy priced. I just tried a mojito during my last visit and DANG, the mint is SO fresh. It was delicious. The porch is awesome– only downside is your dogs can’t actually come onto the porch. They can be attached to latches on the outside, but with bikes and neighbors and kids walking by pretty frequently, this makes this dog mom super nervous. My reasoning for 3 stars is the price for the quality of food. The only thing I’ve had that I’ll order again is the chili smothered tater tots. I like to do half green chile and half red, it’s awesome! Everything else I’ve tried is just, slightly okay. Any sandwiches or burgers come with a «side of fries» but I think calling what you receive a «side» is a bit much– they should probably change it to, «Every sandwich comes with 6 to 8 fries». The food is priced a little too high for the area, and I would suggest either raising the prices a little bit and offer larger portions, or just throw on a few extra fries! All in all, this is a cool, local spot to meet up with some pals for happy hour. But if you’re interested in eating as well, I’d suggest heading over to 38th and 17th.

Great staff! I appreciated how accommodating everyone was. I had set up a happy hour of a bunch of former colleagues on the same night as The Whittier’s very popular Trivia Night(Wednesdays BTW). The guy who headed up the event gave me a heads up that it was going to get crowded but welcomed our little group.(We ended up playing and having a great time.) Multiple staffers would come by and take our order, clear plates, and check in. I love it when staff work together and don’t set up turf areas(«That’s not my table.» «I’ll let your server know.») Oh, beer selection was very good — that’s a given for a decent Denver pub, yes?

Well perhaps I was a bit over-enthusiastic with my first review of The Whittier. I’ll still give them three stars but there are some things that simply prevent me from coming in more often: 1. Portions. As others have mentioned can be a little small. Or just get smaller plates so your burger and fries doesn’t look so skimpy. 2. The pints of beer aren’t really pints; yet they cost as much as pints at most places. 3. The silly little booths that I can’t fit in, and the bar with the too-short overhang where I always bang my knees. 4. The spotty service I’m still glad they’re in the neighborhood, and they’re A-OK, but I find Jake’s a better and more reliable neighborhood joint. And I can fit in their booths and at the bar no problem.

Worst service I have ever had. On a Saturday night, We wanted to try this neighborhood spot. We waited for two hours and we did not receive our food. When we asked for an update from the rude waitress we were told they haven’t even started the order. We canceled our order and left. This place needs friendly service and a faster more organized kitchen. Will most likely not be returning. Do not recommend.

I stop in occasionally for one of the several inventive burgers, homemade chips, and red chili… all are consistently satisfactory. I recommend the Bully burger. My veggie head friends were happy with the falafel. Several local beers on tap, sometimes they’ve run out of one or more of those, so my suggestion would be to consider keeping a stock of some really nice, less common bottled beers as well for those of us with classier than average tongues and money to spend on them. Service is friendly, sometimes overstretched, but no complaints. Street parking is ample. Noise level depends on the day/time — it can get unpleasantly roudy in the evening or during sports games, which quickly scares me away, but it can be pleasant if you go a little off hours. I think a possible next step could be to offer a proper steak dinner — a quick filet on mashed and some asparagus.

I was really excited when this place opened up(although it is part of a chain — Little Pub Company). I love that I can bike or walk there and even bring my dog along if we sit on the patio. They have caribiners attached to the outer wall to hook the leash up to and have water bowls sitting out. Unfortunately, my experiences here have gone a bit downhill in the past year. Service is usually quite slow even when the restaurant does not appear to be busy. Last time my husband and I were there we ordered drinks that we didn’t get until we had already consumed our appetizer and received our burgers. Also, one of the servers came to refill our waters and spilled on the table and on my plate. The server apologized but did not offer to replace my soggy fries or even come back with a towel to wipe up the mess! When we first started coming here they had these amazing hand cut fries but they have since switched to some generic type fries that are just not very good. That being said, the burgers are decent and the smothered tater tots are awesome(go with the green chili). I’m sure we will keep returning every now and then when we want a decent meal close to home but I really hope the service improves and they eventually go back to the good fries!

I can’t quite decide between three and four stars for Whittier, but it definitely has potential, so I’ll be generous and go with four. The menu is strictly pub food, but from what I can tell, they do a pretty good job of it. They do have a few sandwiches that are pretty creative, like peshawari chicken and a grilled bologna sandwich. On our visit, I was feeling distinctly unadventurous and ordered the BLTA on wheat toast. This probably isn’t a great to judge a restaurant by because it’s hard to screw up. However, they did do a really good job here– the bacon was delicious, the toast was nice and crispy, and the lettuce and tomato were both good quality. The sriracha mayo was a good touch. Upgrading to tater tots was a good choice. My husband had the half & half chili tater tots and said they were great, and the order was enormous. He did say the green chili was much better than the red. Many sandwiches and appetizers were under $ 10. They have a lot of local beers at reasonable prices, even if the list isn’t super creative; I won’t complain about $ 4 Great Divide and New Belgium brews. Service was friendly and efficient. It was pretty chill on a Friday night, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If we didn’t have friends who lived nearby, I probably wouldn’t drive across town for a visit, but I could be a regular if I lived in the neighborhood.

I literally just got home from the Whittier and YAHOO for that place. My buddy I get together for beers around once a month and we have been hitting up our local watering holes with frequency here in Park Hill. I decided tonight we’d make the EPIC drive to the other side of City Park for a cold one. The Whittier has that new-build high-light ambience, which isn’t my favorite, but the tap selection was good and the green chili tater tots sent me through the roof. They were just what i wanted post-dinner and during-beer. The people working there were quite nice and we had a great time. i“ll go back.

An alright little neighborhood spot. Not my first choice for anything by any means, but they had ample room to watch the game when Jake’s turned us away. This seems to be THE spot for young families in Whittier/Cole that want to get out of the house, but don’t want to get a babysitter. I’m cool with that(and will probably do the same when I have a kid), but just a note for the kid averse. The beer list is alright(Great Divide and New Belgium), but they were out of most of the offerings. Craft beers are $ 4 for a pint which is pretty good. Our server was nice and very prompt. AND if you get here before 3pm on a weekend, you can get breakfast nachos. Because the only thing that makes nachos better? Eggs. Easily shared by two and only $ 6. They also have tots and they even have chili cheese tots, but they don’t have vegetarian green chile, so there’s less appeal. The small patio is pretty nice and perfect for a summer afternoon pint. Is it summer yet?

This is welcome addition to an older, up and coming neighborhood! Newly remodeled from floor to ceiling, The Whittier is elegant and clean, with a terrific crew at the helm! This cute neighborhood bar is going to be a perfect stop this summer for anyone coming to or from downtown and City Park area. I will definitely be stopping by for cold beers and burgers this summer!
