The Whiskey Bar was fun. Just stoped in to have a drink. I love that it’s so divey. There was only one bartender and he definately was working it. We were the second group of about 14 peeps that came in from a patio bike tour — within a couple of minutes of each other.

Great dive bar atmosphere, which usually guarantees you don’t have to stare at a bunch of high def TVs playing sports, but they have quite a few.(That’s a drawback for me, might be a perk for you.) They do have an excellent whiskey selection. However, the menu is is not particularly well organized and the one bartender on a Friday night was friendly, but too busy to make a suggestion. I am not a scotch novice, so it was easy to order a couple of things I knew my husband and I would like, but I had hoped to try something new that I wouldn’t have picked myself. A better organized menu or an available bartender would have been useful for that. Finally, the prices. You are definitely paying what you would at a very fine restaurant with an extensive spirits selection, minus the good food and atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place downtown to party(and don’t mind huge TVs) this is probably the place for you. We were looking for a place to enjoy a couple of rarer whiskeys and each others’ company and I don’t think I can recommend the Whiskey Bar for that.

Awesome place — I make habit of visiting a dive bar or two in cities I visit. This place was awesome must have had over 100 whiskeys, knowledgable bar tender in a dive bar meets scotch and bourbon bar.

This is our favorite neighborhood bar. We are always treated well here. The bartenders are so friendly, quick and knowledgeable. They have an AWESOME happy hour everyday of the week. Whiskey bar is a mizzou bar, which is how we discovered it. We will be coming here as long as we live in CO! Ps– get a Bloody Mary if you come in the am, Chad makes his own mix and it is amazing!

HORRIBLE service and very unfriendly. Wouldn’t suggest to anyone. unless you want to deal with rude bartenders that are too busy facebooking then serving they’re customers. Went on a dead Thursday night. Had a tall skinny bartender with glasses. Not only was he rude and lazy but spent more time on his phone then doing his job. Couldnt give any suggestions which was a reason i went there. Being they have over 400 whiskeys its a little overwhelming. Bartender was very short and rude when I didn’t know the exact whiskey I wanted in my old fashioned. Sad was excited to try some new whiskeys, cocktails and talk about whiskey. Instead felt like I was making the bartender mad because he had to do his job. Don’t waste your time this place was a joke!

Love this place, always a solid spot to party! The location is excellent, they have good brews on draft & a fun little patio. Last visit we were introduced to Green Tea shots and they were excellent! It could only be improved with better bathrooms and drink specials. However, I guarantee that we will return to this joint as it is a solid bar and a guaranteed good time!

Horrible service. Told the waitress I don’t drink Coors Light but like light beer. She said«well I don’t have all night for this» and walked away.

Keeping in mind the genre-specific intent behind Unilocal’s rating system, I’m giving Whiskey Bar full marks as a quintessential Dive bar with the best and most exhaustive selection of Scotches and Whiskeys in Denver. Belly up to the bar and let Dave or another knowledgeable staffer guide you through their list of around 150 different choices. I always go straight to the Balvenie Caribbean Cask. Pair that with a 90 Schilling from Odell’s(Fort Collins), and you’ll be on your way to happy town. I love Whiskey Bar!

Went to grab some drinks before the Rockies game. Whiskey Bar may not be for everyone, but I enjoy it. Good deals on whiskey and other drinks.

Surprisingly, we did not get whiskey at the Whiskey Bar. We instead settled on some Happy Hour priced Breckenridge drafts priced at $ 3 each. Happy Hour is offered everyday from 4PM-7PM. The Whiskey Bar definitely has a divey feel to it. There’s a few arcade games inside. The bartender was very laid back and invited us to play a Spin the Wheel game. If you win, I buy you a drink, he says. If you lose, you buy me a drink. Everyone took a spin but each spin landed on an unexciting empty slot. There’s plenty of seating at the large bar and there’s a gated off patio out front. Unfortunately, the gates are super high and wrapped off with banners, so it doesn’t make for a good people watching spot. The crowd at Whiskey’s was quiet and relaxed. We only stayed for one round of beers, and our visit was pretty uneventful and dreary. I like my bars with a little more energy. Unilocal100CHALLENGE2015: #217

I used to love going to the whiskey bar before a Rockies Game. Not any more, walked in at 11:15 on a Sunday to get a shot & use the bathroom until the cool guy with the SnapBack hat said, you need to buy something to use our bathroom. Once he said that we left. Sorry, next time have a better attitude when your guests come in.

If I could give zero stars I would. Decent drink selection but the service is terrible. The bartenders are rude and can’t be bothered to do their job. There’s plenty of places nearby to get a drink, avoid this place.

Horrible bar tender and terrible service. Went to the Whiskey Bar last night before AND after the game. Upon entering after the game there was no door man. We headed towards the restrooms before ordering and the bartender came from the back screaming at us that he needed to check IDs. We told him we didn’t appreciate being yelled at. Apparently it was our job to make sure we waited at the front door until the person responsible for checking IDs came back to do their job. After our complaint he told us maybe we needed to find somewhere else to go, we were not obnoxious or intoxicated. I am a MIZZOU graduate and have spent a lot of money at this bar and will never return. The service from the same bartender was terrible and overly aggressive. «what do want, I need 2 IDs for those drinks». No, what can I get for you, No thank you. If treating your loyal, high paying, return guests like an underage drinker at a college bar is the theme you guys are going for, you have definitely pulled it off! This place sucks!

First time visitors, stopped in to watch the big fight. The place was packed as expected but even so the bartenders rocked and we were still able to get drinks in a timely manner. The whiskey selection was incredible and you could tell that the bartenders really knew their stuff. Plan to visit again next time we are in Denver.

I am getting old and I don’t like that thumping bass and screaming a conversation to my friends so this was the place for me. Came in on a Saturday night and still found a table, ordered a drink from a super happy and friendly bartender(I HATE surly bartenders in dive bars so this was really refreshing) and chatted with my friends. There isn’t anything especially astounding about this place, it’s just a great place to go drink and hang out with your friends and not deal with an obnoxious crowd(which I guess is actually especially astounding in Denver).

Laid WAY back… dive bar… awesome. This is the kind of place you come to just to relax, play, enjoy good company and DRINK! That’s exactly what we did! Happy hour from 4 – 7!!!

MIZ-… Go Tigers. This is THE Mizzou alumni bar. Can always catch the games, and be surrounded by fellow fans of the University of Missouri Tigers… During games it definitely gets crowded, but patience is a virtue. When you finally do get your belly to the bar you will be served by a hospitable staff and get exactly what you have been waiting for! ZOU!!!

One of my all time favorite Denver places, spoiled by a bartender that could not possibly give a shit. I do not like writing this review. The bartender should not have a job, period. If you want to smoke weed on the patio and be a general dick to the world, get out of customer service. It’s not your thing. I LOVE the Whiskey Bar, the owners are great, This girl is a mistake.

This is only my second 5 star review, EVER! This is the laid back, locals bar of all bars. The selection of whiskey was off the chain, and the décor was really cool to look at. The real star of this bar was Dave, the most awesome bartender on the planet. He was so cool to talk to, and he made my wife and I feel very much at home. Thanks Dave for the sidewalk action, it was appreciated, and made my night. If i ever return to Denver, I will plan my stay around the Whiskey Bar.
