Salon Utopia

I was in town on business and needed a hair cut and all over color. I have thick, course hair that has a mind of its own and therefore needed a very skilled stylist.
Ella did a fantastic job. We talked about my needs, she made constructive suggestions and then proceed to do exactly what we discussed. I left very pleased.
I would highly recommend Salon Utopia and Ella as my salon and stylist of choice.

Tara is a very talented stylist in cutting and coloring. I have been all over Des Moines trying to find the best stylist to maintain my pixie cut and I stopped looking once I found Tara. You couldn’t pay me to go to anyone else!

Salon utopia is a wonderland. The staff are warm, considerate and very kind. My stylist Tod, is a godsend. I had pretty much given up trying to find someone who would know my needs, steer me in the right direction and really genuinely care about his clients. Not to mention help me look pretty again! Well I found that someone and have found my forever home at Salon Utopia.

It’s all about the people, because they make the difference. I’ve always received prompt and incredibly professional and personable communication and support from all the Salon Utopia staff! Great atmosphere, excellent wine and tea selection, great haircuts! Did I mention the banter with my stylist is the best because she rocks?!

I just tried to call and make an eyelash appointment and was so rudely to go else where.
Apparently the normal girl who does the extensions is too busy to take new clients. That may be the case but you do not need to be so rude on the phone. It would of been polite to be take my details if anything pops up in the future. A little kindness goes a long way when your income revolves around hospitality. Your business may be doing good now, but with that attitude and customer service I wouldn’t count on it .

The salon is extremely small with very little & inconvenient parking. They do have 1 of the best colorists in the country tho. Ask for Todd

First time customer based on a referral and asked for only 2 inches cut off, left with 4 inches gone. Not what I asked for, and a bit on the pricey side. Really liked the atmosphere and the staff was nice, just wish my stylist would’ve listened.

My boyfriend and I each went to see Jamie at Salon Utopia. Found these guys on a Des Moines best salon list and they were close to our location.
Women’s cut: Jamie did a great job with my trim. My hair is very simple and I just wanted a trim. I wish she had put more product in it at the end to make it softer and lessen frizz, but I was very happy with the cut. My cut was $ 40
Men’s cut: My boyfriend has been growing out his buzz cut and needed to get it shaped. Jamie did a great job with the style but also making a guy’s guy feel comfortable at a salon. She was also the first hair stylist I have ever met that didn’t try to sell you products although the salon has plenty. His cut was $ 30.
The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because I found the prices steep, but they seem pretty on par with neighboring salons and Jamie has a lot of experience.
The complimentary tea and chocolates were a great touch. Apparently there are fun events on Fridays that we will look into for our next booking. Everyone was friendly, I loved the text reminders about appointments, and the salon is small and well decorated. We will be back!

Great salon. I always leave feeling incredible and beyond pleased.
Free cup of tea (large selection of flavors) and a very tasty chocolate on your way out is just icing on the cake!
