Waverly! Locally owned neighborhood pub. Great brews and top shelf spirits! Tasty grub and friendly staff. Non-pretentious but classy. Definitely one of my favorites in the Des Moines scene.

Decent enough tap, lots O bottles, solid grease :-) seriously though, friendly staff, good local vibe, and the best Bloody Mary I’ve had in a while. If you’re lookin’ for local flavor and to avoid pretension The Waverly is easy access via bike or car or bus or sneakers, give it a try!

The Waverly is a hidden gem near downtown Des Moines. It has one of my favorite patios with a great view of the downtown skyline. It has great drink selections and I was happily surprised about the great food menu. I would recommend the pizza with spicy sausage!

The bartender was rude. We walked in and he greeted us with a smile but when my girlfriend ordered a martini he told us that he was busy with a private party and that outsiders weren’t allowed in. We left, understanding that private parties are tough, but as we walked past the outdoor patio we saw all the people that aren’t from the class of 1985. Basically, the bartender-who is there all the time-didn’t want to make a martini due to laziness…

Really good bar food! Fresh made and flavorful. Very good fish and chips dish. This was our second visit and we will go again. Love the location… intersection of Ingersoll and MLK with cool view of downtown skyline. … the outside patio is the place to sit.

First time visit last night. I wasn’t sure what to expect because they don’t have much of an online presence, but my table of six was impressed. Service was a bit slow to start, but friendly overall. The whole place has been updated from the days as Flanagan’s, and it clean and modern. Best of all… the food. The burger I had was delicious. Another at the table had the fish and chips. The fish was really well seasoned and the side of coleslaw(with pears and apples) was the best I’ve ever had(and I LOVE cole slaw). The only downside is that the place wasn’t busy at all on a Saturday night. They need to advertise and update their website so everyone can see their menu. It’s worth a try.
