The amount of food for the price is great. Used to come here right out of high school when all the girls I went o school with worked there. No real reason to go here anymore unless the cottage is too busy.

Change owners awhile back and really took a dive. Finally went back and they are getting their act together. So if you have not been in a while, give them another chance.

They didn’t have half of what was in their menu. The waitress was not friendly. We were a group of 6. It was so disappointing that we ended up leaving and drove to palm desert to eat olive garden lol

I’m a big fan of greasy spoons. Allelujah for Sidewinder Grill! The outside looks seedy, but you must know they have good food. I had a small basic breakfast and my bf had a turkey club and fries. The service was great, the ambience was good old fashion diner style and the price point was perfect although we did recieve ticket voucher from a nearby hotel we were staying at. I would love to come back another time to enjoy breakfast or lunch.

Nice breakfast restaurant to hit up if you’re in the DHS area. Breakfast was delicious and the service was good. Could’ve been better but completely understood due to the fact that there were only 2 waitresses. Place is a tad divey but was totally digging it. Food came out rather quickly(about 15 minutes) oh and the pancakes were delicious!

I came here yesterday with my family and we were 100% satisfied! I’m not sure about these negative reviews(I saw only a couple), I know this spot is very popular out here. I had the liver and onions it it was absolutely delicious! My sister had their Greek dish moussaka and I tried it, I even ordered a piece to go because it was so good. They make everything from scratch so nothing is pre made. The service was fantastic also. The owners are Greek so you know you will have the best service. We will definitely be coming back again!

Last night a group of 6 of us from a local RVPark nearby decided to try Sidewinder for our first time this year to savor their liver & onions. MANYCHANGES from our pleasant & satisfied times of last year. The homemade ranch/blue cheese dressing was yummy. Salad & soup were great for all of us. Unfortunately a Karokee«hour» started adjacent to our table in what was formerly their bar.(THEYNOLONGERSERVELIQUOR/BEER!!) It was torture for all of us mostly hearing impaired persons as well as those with acute hearing! Our waitress was gracious & moved the whole group to another portion of the diningroom before our main courses arrived, for which we ALL thanked her. Dinner became another story. The 3 liver & onion dinners were literally cremated with visible burned edges on ALL our dinners. The liver would have been fork tender had cook paid attention to our requests. The 2 for 1 dinner was a good buy & fork tender; the veal marsalla was equally good, but 3 of us filled up on our baked/mashed potatoes & did NOT ask for take home boxes. Sitting in this other dining room, 3 of us faced the acquarium that had @ least 2 red-eared slider turtles struggling to survive in the most gross acquarium I have ever seen in ANY establishment! It was Nauseating! Our waitress was lovely, erased our liver dinners from our bill, apologized & sent us on our way. DHS doesn’t have many Down home cooking restaurants! This long standing eatery had better wake up! ANDGET A COOKWHOCANKEEPITTOGETHER! We WON’T return until we hear thru the grapevine that things have MARKEDLYIMPROVED!

Dog friendly, comfortable and affordable tasty grub. Stayed at local spa found this restaurant doing a dog friendly search, we were pleasantly surprised with welcoming staff and great food.

Don’t do it! Service was horrible, waitresses are rude and inattentive. The food is so below sub par, they should be ashamed charging $ 15.95 for a 4oz(passed off as a 10 oz) overcooked steak with frozen vegetables fresh out the bag… I could have went to Denny’s, FTS! That one star is a compliment for this place.

I’ve been here a few times, this is definitely a locals type restaurant but any passer-by-er stopping in, I would recommend it to as well. You can pretty much order whatever you want, and the new owners will pretty much make it how you want it! I’ve ordered things from the steak to a chicken salad(which by the way is delicious) to my favorite thing there the cheeseburger combo. The atmosphere there definitely feels like a place«where everyone knows your name» lol. The aquatic life there(koi pond in the front and turtle tank inside) is my daughters favorite reason to go! All in all definitely a place you can rely on to get you a lot of food at a decent price!

Loved my salad! Homemade ranch dressing was excellent. I got the chicken salad and asked them to add beets. It was sooo good! My man had the everything burger and he loved it, saying it was one of the best burgers he’s had. Iced tea is freshly brewed and excellent. We’ll be back for sure. Yummy

We walked in the door this morning and a waitress looked at us and walked away without a word. I smiled at another one who was nearby and she just shot us an uninterested look and also turned away. We waited another minute or so and decided to leave. Sidewinder Grill, you really need to work on your people skills and be concerned about first impressions and fire your lazy waitresses that can’t be bothered to smile or say good morning. Your restaurant was basically empty when this happened.

When I was searching for a place to take my family for lunch, I would not expect to find the best Greek restaurant in Desert Hot Springs here. Do not be deceived by the outward appearance, as there is nothing outside that would make this restaurant stand out. Come inside and taste for yourself! The restaurant was recently purchased by the husband/wife team who wanted a startup business. These lovely people are actually from Greece and they brought their cooking styles with them. The homemade tsatziki sauce is fresh, creamy with the right amount of sour and served with fresh pita bread with every lunch/dinner order. I went with the gyros and was not disappointed. I got a stuffed pita chock full of beef and lamb with tomatoes and grilled onions. The wife also makes her own dessert and the baklava is unlike anything you’ve ever had. She says it’s a secret how she makes it, but I think it’s the way she baked it with cloves. If you’re looking for a place to satisfy your taste for Greek food, look no further in Desert Hot Springs.

The service was horrible, there’s really no other way to put it. My boyfriend and I were hoping for a quick breakfast, not far from our hotel. We arrived at 11:15am, there were maybe 5 other small tables of diners and a large table that was just leaving. We attributed the large group on its way out to the 5 minutes it took for someone to even acknowledge that we were waiting for a table. We were finally seated, waited another 10 minutes to be brought menus, then gave up and just went and found some ourselves. Our orders were then taken fairly quickly and I thought things were going back on track. I was wrong. We were waiting until 12:15, a whole hour since we had walked into this small-not crowded-diner, until we finally got our two very average omelets. Our waitress was not apologetic, never checked in on us, and overall didn’t really seem to care about or notice anything going on around her. I kind of just wish we had gone to Starbucks.

Walked in was greated by a very nice lady. Who sat me quickly. Was having breakfast. Excellent coffee. Had the Chicken fried steak and eggs over easy. Gravy homemade. Steak was obviously homemade. Delicious. Big order of shredded potatoes. And wheat bread. This place is a gem Service and Food Excellent. Not fancy. Mom and Pop type place. Neat and clean. Definitely coming back to try the large Breakfast-Lunch and Dinner menu

Food has improved a lot. Portions for a diner seemed a little small. Our waitress was new and very sweet. I will go back maybe they have turned around the business.

We are in town just for the weekend, and looking for a place to get breakfast. Lots of local people here, which says it must be good. We split an omelette. Delicious. Service was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely come back.

Big fan of small town coffee shop diners! Great place to drop in for a quick and tasty breakfast at a reasonable price. Have breakfast any time of the day, who doesn’t love that?! Pancakes are large and thin, bacon always fresh, hash browns crispy, and toast slightly buttered, not dripping in saturated fat!.. No reservations needed, staff is friendly and gracious, quality of food matches the price of the plate but could improve on the décor. But as long as the coffee is hot and service on point, then I’m not complaining!
