Great local place, friendly staff, good food. I had the Greek salad, it was a good choice. Corn beef club looked good.

Andrews is about a block from the crib, so it is a no-brainer unless they do something to piss us off. :-) We have been to Andrew’s three times now, and it has been good every time. Steve has waited on us and he seems to be the stalwart waiter. Very friendly service, cheap beer specials, and good bar food.

A huge thank you to Andrew’s owner Tom, his family and the staff! We had the pleasure of taking a group of boys from the Christ Child House in Detroit(a home to approximately 20 boys who are disadvantaged and at risk) to Andrew’s for lunch. The food was excellent– myself and the boys that I ate with all ordered burgers which were perfectly cooked. My sister had the sloppy joe which she said was awesome as well. Not only was the food great but the atmosphere is perfect for any event whether it be watching a game or having a birthday party. But most importantly, Tom runs his business with a big heart and a great personality. It’s no wonder why this establishment has been around since 1918!

Stopped by during a bicycle bar crawl and I will totally go back to hang out there. Awesome clam chowder soup! Friendly wait staff! Love the authentic vintage feel of this establishment. Definitely a must visit!

Stopped in here for drinks and dinner after biking the riverfront. It was still warm outside so we opted to sit outside(in front) and dine. There where 6 of us which didn’t seem to cause the waiter any problems, he was attentive, friendly and got our drinks to us pronto. He kept our water refilled which was appreciated since we were hot after biking. The food choices are pretty basic, I think everyone ordered either burgers or chicken sandwiches and dinner salads. Everyone was happy with their food including me, I’d definitely stop in again. This isn’t fine dining but what they made they did a good job. This probably wouldn’t be a normal destination for me, but if I find myself on the riverfront or hanging out at Atwaters and I’m hungry, I’d have a snack or a meal.

Stumbled in for a beer trying to find the Atwater brewery, which was closed. Cool old bar, Atwater on tap, and super friendly bartender and staff. My kind of place. Tasted 3 different Atwater local brews and struck up a few conversations prior to heading to airport. With only 24 hours in this cool city, I found my kinda bar. Right by the river too!

I needed a new place to go near work when They Say acted up, so we walked down the street to Andrew’s. It’s clearly old, but I don’t mind that. Eventually, to keep up with the bar scene, they may need an update… but it’s fine. Our server was super friendly in a great way. He had suggestions for us, and had a sense of humor, which I always love. The food was quite decent — we all ordered salads and fries. My friends ordered the chef salad, and they do make their dressings in-house, so that’s a major plus for me. They were basic with iceberg, but looked fresh and adequate. Mine really was tasty — I got the special spinach strawberry chicken salad.(I love a place with weekly specials) The strawberries were perfectly ripe and fresh, as were the rest of the veggies. The raspberry vinaigrette was really tasty and tangy, and less sweet, which I enjoyed. The chicken on top was meh… almost as if it hadn’t been grilled fresh, but it wouldn’t stop me from ordering it again. If you’re going to order fries, get the waffle fries! They’re perfect! My comment was, «These taste like Cedar Pointe.» My guess is, if the salads at this basic bar are this decent, the regular bar food like burgers and wings is probably pretty darn good. So, I’ll be back to check them out again, especially with the fast, friendly service we received.

Just recently stumbled in here, had great quick service and a few drinks! The place feels old timey and it is still family owned and operated. Will be back. It is a simple bar and if you’re looking for fancy drinks or an extensive craft beer list this might not be your joint. But if you’re looking for something authentic and local you’ve hit the jackpot. P. s. They have free shuttles to most games!

Andrew’s on the corner is the most local local spot I can describe to you. Most of the time you walk in there will be 2 guys sitting at the bar and the bartender is washing glasses. Not much going on. They however do have a full restaurant and menu. Maybe the best part about this place is the free shuttle to tigers and red wings games so you can get your booze on with cheap parking before the game. I sadly have never participated in this but I definitely need to. Drinks are a bit pricey for the dive that it is but not to the point where it would deter anyone. The food in general is classic bar food but done very well. I usually get the Turkey Reuben with fries. A bit greasy but it helps grill the bread well. Fries are always hot and crispy. Overall: Great place to go before a sports game and always easy to get in to eat at.

Last of the warehouse district bars that used to include Soup Kitchen Saloon and Woodbridge Tavern. Building is old which adds to its charm. It is best at what it does. An establishment that serves great food and drinks at reasonable prices in an inviting atmosphere. Great staff. Bus shuttles are provided for games and downtown events. After eating, one can step outside and be on Riverwalk. I almost always have the fish & chips which must be the best in the city. I’ve had friends and family that come to visit me downtown that want to return to Andrews even with the huge number of other places in the city they can go to.

Great food and a wonderful little spot. We got to talking to Tom, the owner, and the place has been owned by his family for close to 100 years. We told him we were going to the art institute, and he offered to give us a ride! He gave us a great little tour of Detroit, and told us much of its history. It was the highlight of our stay!

We were almost scared off by the loud R&B music emanating from a huge motorcycle out front. But once we broke through this wall of sound and got a table we were glad we did. We ordered the mac and cheese balls and fried calamari and banana peppers as starters. Both were unexpected riffs on classics. The balls had a crunchy golden brown exterior shrouding oooey gooey mac and cheese. The banana peppers were fried along with the calamari giving a great flavor contrast while making the entire dish fried. I had the hot pastrami sandwich as my entrée. The meat was thinly sliced and tender. My boys had the jumbo fish sandwich. They both really enjoyed the healthy helpings and toasted buns. My wife ordered the Cajun fish and chips. It’s wasn’t too spicy but added kick for a little welcome intrigue to the dish. My daughter really liked the coleslaw while nibbling on her grilled cheese with bacon. We also enjoyed the grog(Atwater beer) and the friendly wait staff. A definite redo. Thank you Andrews for contributing to a fun family Friday evening.

I’ve been here twice. The first time, I was bored. The second time started off well. Then, when the waiter wouldn’t separate our bills it got extremely awful and we waited about 40 minutes just to pay. Horrifying.

Had the fish and chips yesterday. The fish was so moist and lightly battered. Very tasty. The coleslaw was good and crispy fries. The drinks last night were on the weak side last night.

I will start by saying the staff was great! Very attentive and friendly! They advertise that they have been family owned and run since 1918 and I believe it. I ordered the chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese bacon and avocado and it was great. My friend had the antipasto salad and that was good as well. Both items were recommended by the chef who came out personally to take our order, very nice man. The drinks were good as well. I managed to clumsily spill mine and they were quick to clean it up and replace it. I swear it only my first drink lol. They also offer shuttle service to red wings games. A little Detroit bar that is a must to check out

Love coming here before games(they do free shuttles). We live down the road so it’s a friendly and convenient place to come when we want to get out. Wait staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this place!

I like to stop in Andrews when I go on long walks on the Riverwalk. It is right on the path and in the warmer months they have tables on the sidewalk. I stopped by there a on a weeknight recently, right after Atwater closed so around 10pm. I met the bartender Mike there for the first time. He was one of the most welcoming bartenders I have met downtown. It was a great night and there are always friendly people there. If you are looking for a new bar to check out a little out of the downtown grid, or are going on a stroll on the Detroit Riverwalk I would highly recommend it.

Dive bar where the bartender Mike is awesome. He always makes me feel at home when I walk in with his booming, happy voice. No-fuss drinks and food. You can catch games here. You can watch your parked car in the parking lot on a screen. You can just chill out over a cold beer with some friends.

My mom and I are visiting Michigan from San Diego. We had gone down to Belle Isle and we’re getting hungry. My aunt wanted to take us to the river walk so we decided to look for somewhere to eat first and passed Andrews so we decided to try it. It was a GREAT idea. From the moment we walked in the door the people were friendly and the atmosphere was great! And the food was AMAZING! The burger I had was perfectly cooked. My mom’s corned beef sandwich… amazing. my aunts strawberry salad… YUMM!

What a great surprise! My husband and I were staying at the nearby Roberts Riverwalk Hotel, and we stopped in for a beer and a snack. The specials were too good to pass up; we decided to have a full meal here instead of just an appetizer before going elsewhere. I chose the jambalaya(outstanding) and he chose the jerk chicken salad(also phenomenal). All ingredients were fresh and perfectly prepared. Our veteran server was helpful and the bartender was speedy. The cook even came out to the table to check on us. Very friendly, comfortable, and appealing. Nothing fancy, but our whole experience was quality.
