If you weren’t careful, you would blink & miss this small shop near Majestic Theater. I am «try local, buy local» type of gal so I stopped in one day I was in the area. They have a small selection of groceries and I found it interesting that they had drinkable yogurt, by a local company(I’m not daring enough to try it though). You can find non perishables, a select variety of produce(hence the name) & homemade salsa. I went for the cheesecake which I was told was made by someone in Farmington Hills. It was a huge slice for $ 4& was ok. Nothing that would have me running back to get it. If you are a local lover or healthy eater then this would be a spot to stop by if you were shopping at Goodwell’s Natural Food a couple blocks over.

Super cute little produce shop. I love there selection of everything being local or from Michigan. The girls that work there were really friendly and helpful. I bought milk, bread, veggies, and everything was wonderful. I also tried the turkey wrap and a smoothie… all so yummy. Thanks!

Kim’s produce was just what the Dr. ordered! I say this because it reminds me of the stores that were around when I was a kid growing up on the North-End of Detroit. It is small BUT clean and neat, the owners are thereand they actually speak to you,(No grunting or hey Babies!). The veggies and fruit that Kim had were fresh and although not a plethora as a larger place, they were the best of the best! AND guess what no lil fruit flies flitting around! I love the fact of the Calders whole milk, butter and yogurt because here in Detroit you can’t get better Milk unless somehow you smuggle a milking cow in your backyard! They have homemade soaps and Salsa and something new to me WATERIN A CARTON! I never heard of such a thing! Kim actually took the time to explain the concept to me and it made a lot of since, especailly to me I am a Water Snob if there is such a person. I will go back if for nothing else, the Calders Milk and Salsa!!!

Small space, small selection, but great food, excellent service. Somehow, this cozy spot on Woodward(just North of the Majestic — across the street from the McDonalds(ironically)), is completely missable. I’d gone looking for it twice before I was able to spot it — needs a flashier sign perhaps. Entering the space, I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting something like a cramped general store — something more akin to Goodwell’s Natural Food store close-by on Willis St. Instead, the small space makes use of the room by showcasing only a select handful of products. You can get potatoes, onions, garlic, shallots, zucchini, squashes, pineapple, apples, blueberries and strawberries, tomatoes, lettuce, and maybe a few other produce items. There’s a small dairy case which stocks all varieties of Calder milk in the glass jugs(including Calder’s new NATURAL milk line which comes loaded with cream on top of the milk — extraordinarily tasty). There’s a good selection of canned, jarred, and bagged items up front(rice, salsas, crackers, jams, nutella). The space is also painted very brightly giving the interior a warm and welcoming aura. The shelves are also arranged in an uncluttered, almost artistic manner(perhaps to make the small selection appear less so), but it adds a kind of aesthetic pleasure to the place. Didn’t try the soup/sandwich service, but the sales crew of two were friendly and helpful, making the shop stick in the memory bank as a place I want to return to. It’s great to have something like this situated on Woodward — kind of in the middle of things. In addition to the Majestic, Wasabi, Good Girls Go To Paris, Leopold’s, and MOCAD, I can see Kim’s as making yet another fierce claim to the value of more foot traffic along the Woodward/Warren corridor. Feels like things are picking up along this strip, and I’m happy to have fresh produce and milk as part of that action.

This place is a great addition to midtown; as someone who lives and works in Southwest and midtown, I’m superpsyched I can buy veggies in the week more easily… Calder dairy milk is maybe the best prize here.(Best milk around, tastes totally different than regular non-local milk.) I bought some milk and a bunch of veggies one day. All the vegetables look well-selected…nice & pretty & crisp. There are also a lot of locally-made specialty foods – jams and things. I stopped on a different occasion and got some soup to go, and it was quite good. Hoping they get some tortilla chips in stock to go with the bright & delicious-looking guac they’re selling. The store looks a bit understocked or something right now; I imagine it will fill in when more veggies and fruits are in season. It’d be great if they stocked some more grains too.(They have some now, but not a lot.) I’m very happy Kim’s is in the neighborhood now. Might well save me some drives to Royal Oak for groceries. Kim herself is quite friendly, too. Also, 10% discount with Wayne State or DMCID, I believe. Hot!

My first experience with anything from Kim’s Produce was rather unknowingly. One morning at work, my boss brought in two small tubs of fresh fruit, a container of plain yogurt, and a bag of granola suggesting that we mix it all up and make our own little fruit parfaits. My goodness, was it amazing! The fruit was incredibly fresh and delicious, the yogurt had the perfect consistency and the granola was divine; Not too sweet, not too bland! I asked where he had gotten it, and he said Kim’s Produce. I nodded and smiled, but didn’t really give it all that much thought. Later that day, my boss handed me some cash and asked if I wouldn’t mind heading over to Kim’s to pick up our lunch. I said sure and hopped right in the car. Hollis(Kim’s husband) had our soup ready and waiting for me when we got there and WOW! I never imagined a tomato basil soup could be so life-changing, but it was! Never in my life have I had such a delicious cup of soup! I kid you not– it was so good, it literally turned my day around! Near the end of the day, I ventured back for one of the chicken ceasar wraps for us to split. This time, I actually had a few minutes to look around the shop and was totally impressed! Organic fruits and vegetables, Calder’s Dairy products, granola, chips, salsas and spices are just a few of the surprises waiting for you inside this great little store. I also picked up some of the Blossoms of Health tea Hollis recommended! Other highlights include the Maria’s Comida salsa with mango and habanero, Blue Corn Tortilla chips and the freshly made tortilla soup. A definite gem within the city of Detroit! Kim and Hollis, you have a customer for life!

I stopped in a couple of times during their opening week. Nice selection of produce(good prices!), salasas and jams and spices all locally made or packaged. Two soups/day and fruit or fresh salad is a nice healty offering for the Woodward cooridor! The raw broccoli didn’t really fit in the salad…(hello…blanch it for a couple of mins… no one REALLY likes raw broccoli!), but other than that the soup and salad made for a nice healthy lunch! Good luck!
