Last time I tried to go here, all the tables were gone and the doors were locked. Have they closed? Truly unfortunate if they have :(

I have so far tried this place twice, at first i tried the DRUNKENNOODLES dish, its a lot of it but its not put together well(not good), less noodles but more flavor is preferred, 2nd time i tried the Fried rice with Basil, It was also terrible(i looked like a bit lump of rice), first they forgot to add my string beans to it and when i called about it they stated«THENEXTTIME U ORDERSOMETHINGWEWILLMAKEUPFORIT, ISTHATOK,» No its not ok, my order this time is messed up-and i don’t plan on another visit if the food remains tasting like this, I will try one more time, i will be back with updates, i’m going to try the PADPED, its good at the location on 10 mile and Gratiot, but here on WOODWARD they need new cooks or just take your time!

Very fast service! I’m a little concerned by the lack of vegetables in nearly every dish(throw some green beans in there, man), but the food is about what I would expect from a cheap Thai place.

If you give a shit about what you put in your body for sustenance, the simple act of entering this place should scare you off enough to not bother trying the food. It IS as bad as it looks. Don’t Ignore that gut feeling, I know I’m bummed I did. This place sucks. The weakest Thai I’ve ever had. No wonder the place is empty. I thought it was just because its Detroit… I think its more the food than anything. Stay away. I wish I did.

This place has the best Pad Thai in the state of MI. I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant.

Dumbed down Thai food at its worst. I realized after ordering carryout that this is the sister restaurant to Bangkok Cuisine in Rochester, which I have said I will never go to again. Still, I thought maybe different cooks? I asked which dishes had the most vegetables, and selected the Pad Pak. Got back to work and took a bite. Ugh! Inedibly salty! I drained the brown sauce and rinsed the vegetables off. Now at least I can eat it. But the predominant flavor is still just salt. Never, Never, Never again.

Ordered the Tofu Pineapple fried rice, no tomato, w/added broccoli. Also ordered the Chicken Tom Yum soup. Both were phenomenal. Tofu was perfectly tender, and the vegetables were extremely fresh. The soup was flavorful and filling; there was plenty of chicken and the mushrooms were delectable. All of this only cost $ 9 as well. A perfect lunch.

Consistently good food and nice size portions for a good price. Clean kitchen which is a huge concern with fast places. I just wish they still had the chicken satay– they were excellent! I usually go with the veggie coconut curry and add chicken, or the masaman curry.

I come here several times a month and usually have Abby bring the food out to my car to avoid having to park. I don’t think you can compare it to Sala Thai since Bangkok is actually great Thai fast food. Surely plenty of college kids eat in and its a great cheap date but you will be served on styrofoam. Its fantastically cheap and the portions are huge. King size only served on weekends, but for the extra dollar, I always get King at lunch and eat it twice. Spicy Pad Ped has cured many illnesses for me. I was so happy when Thai came to mid town and I like supporting this restaurant Abby is also very sweet.

We went here for takeout with a groupon, and boy what a disappointment. I ordered the Pad Thai and the Tom Kha Soup. The Pad Thai noodles were mushy and big, there were no fresh bean sprouts, maybe they were cooked in, but it was not good. The soup was terrible, a couple large mushrooms and overly sweet. You know it’s bad if you have to throw away and not want any leftovers. Sala Thai has all these placed downtown beat by a landslide. They should take some notes.

surprised by the terrible reviews here. i came here on my lunch break and thought it was pretty decent. i wasn’t expecting much but i was pleasantly surprised. i had the mixed veggie panang and the tom yum soup. both portions were good, though the panang was heavier on the rice than the curry. it tasted really good though and was super hot(temperature wise). ordered it medium and it was the exact spiciness i expected. the tom yum soup was pretty minimal, just chicken and mushrooms. i wasn’t awful, but it was cloyingly sweet. i couldn’t finish it. i’ve never had it so sweet but that’s how it is sometimes? definitely not to my preference though. i tried some of my friend’s beef pad thai and that was decent. but i’d also say it was way too sweet. and kind of too greasy too, but i usually don’t mind that. the place is pretty bare, just a place to grab something, maybe sit down. the food came out pretty fast and the people were nice. the price isn’t too bad either. my curry was 6.55 and the soup was only two dollars. i’ll come here again when i feel like a hot meal!

I know I shouldn’t like this place so much, but I do. I am always craving it. The veggie rolls are perhaps the best I have ever had, and they make a perfect strawberry banana smoothie with tapioca bubbles. The entrees aren’t really anything special, they don’t have enough veggies, the noodles are often overcooked and they are pretty greasy, but somehow I still find them delicious! The Pad Thai is particularly tasty. My main complaints are that everything is in styrofoam, you are forced to get gigantic portions and I agree with Mac F. that their signs make you feel like you are being lectured. However, the sign that says«Weekends served King Size Only» is pretty hilarious. I like to think of all of my weekends being King Size, regardless of what I am eating. But really, why can’t you get a more reasonable portion on the weekends? That’s just silly. Even though they come off as being kind of rude, they actually are anything but, I have always had very friendly service.

Methinks not indeed. While not overtly bad, Bangkok Cuisine Express II has very little to recommend itself. To start with, I adore spicy food, and for a white guy, I can take it like a champ. However, anything above their ‘Mild’ is basically inedible, it’s so hot(Yosef. A is spot on in his posting). Which brings me to another gripe against Bangkok. Posted at their register, they have signs indicating that they won’t refund or exchange food that’s considered ‘too spicy.’ In addition to their ‘No Checks’ notice. And their rules about a $ 2 delivery fee(on top of the 10% surcharge on the total). And that they’re closed on holidays. And that they only serve entrée portions on weekends. I don’t take issue with the fact that they have their own regulations, I take issue with the fact that they’re so prominently displayed, with the overall effect being that I feel like I’m being lectured when I come in. The food is adequate, though, given the quality, is clearly overpriced. I eat here because it’s near my apartment, though every time I do so, I regret it. I could stop eating there, but, as I love to bitch, it provides more than ample fodder.

This is my local Thai joint. I rotate through about 5 different dishes, eating there every couple of months. My wife sticks to the Pad Thai, which she loves. As others have said, portions run to the generous side, which explains their slightly elevated prices. You WILL have leftovers; if this doesn’t appeal to you then call me and I’ll take your scraps home. Service is fast and polite. The dining area is nondescript, but we get carryout most of the time so it’s not an issue. The food is consistent, and parking is rarely an issue(they will meet you curbside if necessary when carrying out). Solid food, good value — not fine dining, but who cares if it tastes good.

My mouth is watering thinking of Bangkok. I’ve tried a lot of options on the menu, but my favorites are the basil fried rice, and the pad thai with fried tofu(big surprise.) The portions are always HUGE(be prepared for a few days worth of leftovers) and packed with flavor. The basil fried rice comes with plenty of tofu, basil, and green peppers. The heaping mound of pad Thai comes with generous portions of egg, peanut, bean sprouts, and tofu. I always order extra hot, and they always deliver the perfect spice. I want my mouth to be on fire, and they always get it just right. –1 star for parking. If there aren’t any spots available right in front of the building, I always have a hell of a time finding a spot. And make sure you put a quarter into the meter(even if you’re just running in for take out) or the meter fairy will be all over that shit. Anyway, I suggest this place if you’re having an serious Thai food craving.

Totally consistent and dependable. Portions are gigantic. I always order tofu pad thai, and it always exceeds my expectations for a fast-food type place. The spring rolls are some of the best I’ve had anywhere. If you’re feeling wild, get a strawberry-banana smoothie with tapioca bubbles(all the other flavors are made from weird mixes; this one is real fruit.) Perfect for when you want something sugary and greasy and uncomplicated. If you are looking for«authentic», mind-blowing Thai food, this is not the place, but neither is any Thai restaurant in metro Detroit.

I have came here twice to get take out. The first time I ordered a Pad Thai and a Thai Ice Tea. The Thai Ice Tea was good but the Pad Thai was very bland. I didn’t want to rule them out so I gave them another chance last Friday. I order a Pad See You and well it was ew! The noodles were tough and they were so brown but tasted like nothing. The beef didn’t even look like beef and there was only a couple pieces of broccoli in the entire take out box. I do have to say that they do give a lot of food but I ate 1⁄5 of it and threw the rest away. Even though I ate so little I didn’t feel that hot the next day. Also I heard people ate stuff from here and got sick. I guess Thai Ice Tea for the win!

I finally got around to trying the Thai wings. What could make wings Thai? They’re slathered in Sarachi hot sauce, plus come equipped with a dipping sauce — the same one as they use for the springrolls. Goes great with the springrolls. With the wings, not so much. These were lousy wings, the worst I’ve had in ages. They’d probably been frozen since the last Ice Age. I mean, who orders chicken wings at a Thai place? Not me anymore, that’s for sure. I knew that was a bad idea. And since it was my bad idea, Bangkok’s 4 star rating remains intact. I’ll go back to one of my old standbys next time.

Abby behind the counter is great. Always remembers my name on the phone. I grew up around the original Bangkok and I think this place holds up. Do not like that they only serve king size on the weekends. However, it doesn’t matter what size pad-thai-with-tofu-medium-plus I order, it’s always 2 – 3 meals. Convenient location, decent food, reasonable prices, unique cuisine for Midtown… I’d say win.
