The music is too loud. Live across the street. Need a professional sound guy to fix it so it travels less.

Everything about this venue is awesome! Food, service, drinks, size of the venue. I really enjoyed myself. The overall layout is very different then any venue I’ve been in sometime. They have something for everyone here. Don’t be afraid to explore as the venue is huge!

The Magic Stick needed an update, let’s be honest. The renovations are beautiful. It’s really nice now, the patio is great, the bathrooms are still clean and not falling apart yet (like you see in most clubs).
My number 1 biggest issue — CHAIRS.
There is nowhere to sit in this place unless you’re VIP. No barstools, no outdoor seats, nothing. Nowhere. Not a single chair. I have a pretty bad foot condition, and standing for a long time puts me in a lot of pain. But I love EDM shows. Is there really a reason to not have a single chair in a place where the doors don’t even open until 10pm, and the show lasts til 2am?
Our show was supposed to have the doors opened at 9:30. Arrived then. Told they had delayed doors until 10. Waited some more, we weren’t let in until 10:30. Even then, we went up the stairs, was told by the people upstairs that they weren’t ready yet, and sent a mass of people back down the stairs in a cluster of crowded confusion. Literally a minute later, they said «Oh wait okay we’re good.» and let people in.
I think they need to work on their communication between the staff.
Otherwise, the sound systems are better. The ceiling doesn’t drop dust and dirt all over you when the bass is too high anymore. The bathrooms don’t look post-​apocalyptic anymore.
Because it’s still new, I’m being pretty forgiving about the state of the staff and communication. I like the atmosphere so I can see myself coming back in the future.

The venue was really cool with a great light display. However, a business that hires security guards that pin a young woman down on the stairs by her neck and then proceed to throw her out because she stumbled and broke the security guard’s chain is absolutely appalling. As a 21 year old woman, that was terrifying to witness. And to make matters worse the security guard went around after boasting about how he threw that «bitch on the street where she belongs.»

Bring back the Magic Stick! Populux is atrocious. The whole vibe of this place is off. The staff look like they don’t want to be their and the best place sit down to rest your dancing feet is literally the toilet! The drinks are over priced and this place has no soul. It feels like just another sub-​par techno venue cash grab. If you are looking for good vibes look else where.

This is one of the worst clubs in have ever been to. I went to 2 parties here over memorial day weekend and bouncers were walking up behind people and searching there backpacks while they were dancing (illegal). By the end of the first party they had kicked so many people out there was probably ¹⁄₃ of the total crowd there for the headliner. Also who wants to go to a party that ends at 3.59pm. From a 5 year Detroit reveler avoid this place at all costs no matter the headliner or cheap ticket prices!

This place is great!!! Amazing sound system. Perfect atmosphere to dance, lounge, or hang out on the patio. Can’t wait to come back. Favorite new Techno/​House venue.
