Terrible service was told a ten minute wait for a simple sandwich and waited over 30 minutes. Then they forgot to but in my friends order so he had to wait 45 minutes. Will not be returning

Went to the Majestic Café today for Mothers Day brunch. Was in mid-town visiting my son, his wife and my grandson. The food was sub par and the service was terrible. At $ 23.00 per person I was expecting a pretty nice meal. That was not the case. The owner decided to bake in an 18% gratuity. There were four of us, not a group of 8. I suppose the moral of the story is go for a burger and a beer. Don’t go for brunch on Mothers Day. They were way over their head.

I have been on the search for the perfect endless mimosas location! $ 12 for a combination of hot run cider, bloody Mary’s and mimosas. Pretty good menu options, and great service too!

I really enjoy this place as an eatery, with tasty brioche bread, fries, and sandwiches. Everything I’ve had here is good. I know they’ve tried having double feature movie nights here, and I would love to catch them. Going forward there’s been a major question in my mind… how well will this place double as a music venue? For those who are late to the game, the magic stick was repurposed as an electronic dance venue, popolux. Before that happened they flirted with smaller shows at a scaled down version of the magic stick, calling it the magic stick lounge. Basically, the shows that were booked for this setup are now being booked at the majestic café. I recently went to a free show and it is beyond intimate, but I’m not sure if I’d eat while catching the show again. The two bands I saw that night, seven savages and the ill itches, sent chills down my spine from the energy coming off the stage and I was sitting as far down the bar as possible. Who knows exactly where the bands who were able to fill up the magic stick, but can’t quite fill up the majestic are going to play now.

Great brunch! I went whole I was in town with a group and had an amazing brunch. Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s are bottomless for brunch until 4pm… for ELEVENDOLLARS — can’t beat that! They could either put the bloodys in bigger glasses or stuff them with less veggies because they’re a bit hard to drink stuffed into a small glass, but other than that, no complaints. I had the dirty eggs which were amazing, and I still got a huge portion when ordering with egg whites. Huevos Rancheros — delicious Very Berry Pancakes — incredible The fruit cup as a starter is also a really nice touch. The owner is also extremely friendly and they play good music to top it off. Highly recommend this place and plan to go back when I’m in town next time.

The Majestic is definitely one of those hot spots in midtown Detroit that many people talk about. The Majestic Theater is known for their nightlife entertainment that highlights local bands and vocalist as well as upcoming artist. I simply love the Majestic Café’which is an adjacent café’ lounge attached to the Majestic, same ownership of course. I can honestly say I only go to the Majestic for Brunch, but I have heard great reviews regarding their lunch and dinner entrees. With regard to their Brunch service… Excellent! Known for their Bottomless Mimosa’s, the Majestic is my go to place when I really just want to enjoy a nice meal in a quite and cozy environment. What really set’s the Majestic apart from any other venue I’ve visited is their service. Every time I go, I Insist on being serviced by Jovita, who is the bartender during this shift. I either choose to sit along the window near the door or at the bar(this is her primary servicing area). She is awesome and provides superior service… Love her! The Majestic opens at 10:00am on Sunday’s and I’m generally there around 9:50am. I love being there right when the doors open. I remember about a year ago, they won me over with their buttery grits. They were really something special. It wasn’t until they stopped making them I was upset I stopped going for a while. I actually went as far as writing a Unilocal review on my experience and begged for the grits to come back. Well I guess it worked because a few months later they were back on the menu. :) This particular time my husband and visited the Majestic Café, we enjoyed bottomless mimosa’s(as usual, I’m only limited to 3 glasses :)) and two catfish breakfast entrée’s. The meals came with one(1) large piece of perfectly fried catfish, buttery grits, eggs cooked to order, cooked spinach(which are delicious) and two slices of bread. This dish is more than enough for anyone. Each dish was about $ 13 and the mimosa’s were $ 12. To top off this visit, Jovita even made me and my husband a special St. Patty’s day concoction. Oh yes! The shamrock splash included; OJ, Champagne, vodka and some green food coloring. Delicious and on the house! For those individuals that have been living under a rock and haven’t heard of the Majestic; listed below are other venues included in this 12,000 square foot building: Sgt. Pepperoni’s Pizzeria & Deli — OMG great pizza, must try! Venue includes a full bar. The Magic Stick — Located on the second floor of the building which hosts events up to 550 which also includes a stage The Garden Bowl — That’s right a bowling alley to add to all the other activities. This alley has 16 lanes of fun, invite the whole family. The Majestic Stop by whenever you can! 4120 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI48201 (313) 833‑9700

Rudest staff in a filthy place. Never going back. Don’t waste your money here there are many great venues that deserve your business. All the reviews regarding how poorly patrons are treated are true. The food is mediocre at best and when the staff is not only indifferent, but verbally hostile, your better off spending your money elsewhere. $ 110.00 check, but I guess they don’t need the customers to return. Barmaid swore at my husband for not tipping her enough and said she can say anything she wants to her customers. Just so you know, he bought our friend a beer $ 6.00 bill, $ 3.00 tip, second time to the bar for me, $ 6.25 bill, gave her another $ 3.00, back to get a beer for another lady, left the change and she says, «thanks for the quarter asshole.» So classy, I hope her management knows the people in my party will never be back.

Pretty chill place for brunch. I liked the vibe the moment we stepped in and they had a ‘90s rock playlist on the sound system. My boyfriend’s aunt recommended the Majestic when we were looking for a spot downtown. Parking on Woodward was unavailable due to construction, but we found parking on a side street relatively quickly. At noon they were able to accommodate our group without a reservation. The brunch menu was varied, with traditional offerings such as Eggs Benedict to a sweet potato burger served with naan and chutney. I had a difficult time deciding what to order! Menu items were marked as vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. They also had bottomless mimosas or bloody Marys for $ 12 and daily specials. Everyone received a small fruit bowl to start, which was a nice touch. I ordered huevos rancheros and it was quite tasty. Coffee was great, too. Our server was a bit forgetful but she remembered the coffee and mimosa refills. Yam fries were crispy and served with honey. I felt the prices were extremely fair with most entrees starting at $ 9 and heartier ones at $ 10 – 12. You can even get an Eggs Benedict with lobster add on for $ 17 altogether!(C’mon, I had a Smoked Salmon Benedict in NY that I paid over $ 20 for a couple of months ago!) Brunch for 9 people came to about $ 150 and they include an automatic gratuity for groups. There was no rush to turn over tables and we were free to linger after we had paid. It got a bit more crowded later but the ambiance was quiet overall – even saw a trio of web developers working by the window. Overall, a good value for brunch downtown.

Came here after our Pink Slip Party event to unwind after the chaos. Great beer selection and the food was on point. Can’t really ask for more than that. The waitstaff was attentive and always there to make sure that drinks were full and another round was on deck. I’ll definitely go back.

They just changed their menu. Gone are the days of their fabulous Happy Hour Thursdays and ½ off appetizers. The drink list has been drastically reduced and the prices raised. It’s hard to spend $ 10 on the same appetizer I usually get for $ 5. I frequent many restaurants with various piece points. So that’s not the issue. As far as Happy Hour this was a favorite so I’m very sad to see it has changed. Many of the favorite’s like crab cakes are gone. Sad when they change such a good thing. Been a long time customer and I’m not sure we will return

The Ann Delisi essentials music meets here and is an amazing place to take a date. You get to rate new music that Ann is considering for her show and you then you get to listen to a local band too. All with no cover charge. Then of course there’s the wonder atmosphere of casual hang-out and good food that you get from the Majestic. All around a really good time, a great place, good food you can’t miss.

I have eaten here a few times, their brunch is actually pretty original and tasty(if you are into very peppery bloody Mary’s you will like theirs). Honestly the food is pretty good. Not super fantastic, but pretty good. It is certainly«healthier» and«lighter» options than the place across the street(that I also frequent). Their weakest link(every time) has got to be the bar. Honestly this place would be a ton busier daily if they(a) added more draft beers and/or(b) had a bartender who could mix killer cocktails(heck, even just a few… come on you actually have some good stuff back there, now learn to work with it). They do have some mighty fine beer choices(better suited for a more refined beer palate than most local suited-for-college-kid offerings about), good drinks specials too. Oh, and when they upgrade the bar can we get the correct glasses too. Hmm? I’ll do a breakdown of our meal last night to help you glean a better understanding of the food= Baked brie: very good, no pastry overkill like some places. Fruit was well presented but bleh(probably the stuff we all accidentally get home when we don’t ardently pursue the«bestest» local fruits) Mussels: nice with a tasty sauce(you may want more bread if you are into sopping up the sauce) Wings(one of the special offerings off the chalkboard): very tasty sauce, but I’m not a fan of breaded wings. Period. Sorry. Beet salad: yum. But I like beets. We did switch the feta out for goat cheese though, which I automatically think makes it more awesome. Lobster mac n cheese: very nice and I can think of a dozen friends that would have inhaled it. Personally I would have liked a smaller portion(it’s huge), with less pasta and a higher cheese intensity. Michigan berry salad: pleasant(hey, it has goat cheese, we all know I dig that!). Get the dressing on the side though! Whoa Nellie, calm down there ye salad drowner. Surf and turf: I’m not a fan of the mash, add butter(real butter) and some cream yo!!). the steak was actually better than expected and well prepared. The lobster was a bit oversalted. Carrot cake: warning, it does not have cream cheese frosting(which to some die-hards is a cardinal sin), the frosting it did have had coconut on it(which some make not like). The flavor of the cake is good, not too sweet, with a nice amount of spices. Personally I prefer my carrot cakes less dense. The place has lots of windows, so plenty of light streams in. It makes for a pleasant meal.

The hubby and I swung in here on a whim before the DSO Led Zep show and the place was decently packed, so we grabbed a couple of seats at the bar. I ran into the bathroom while my hubby held our seats and when I came back, the bartender still did not recognize us. So, hubby ran into the restroom while I held down the fort… it wasn’t until as he was walking back up the bar did we get acknowledged. It took at least 10 minutes to get noticed, I mean we are at the bar… we were taking off our jackets and there were two bartenders… so it was a slow start to say the least. After ordering drinks, it took about 15 minutes for them to actually arrive at the table. I know they were pretty busy but I still was thinking that 25 minutes from sit down to drinks was a little long. It took about 15 more minutes to get acknowledged to order food. We tried to flag the waitress down so we could order. Finally after she came over to us, we ordered a pizza… we had to make it to the orchestra hall at some point to see our show… and we were already almost an hour into our visit! Once we ordered a simple pizza margarita, she snotted off«you know pizzas take 30 minutes, right?!» Actually, we didn’t know that. It was our first time in the place and will be the last. The place looks like a chaotic mess. Hubby decided we were already sitting, we had drinks so lets take our chances and hope for the love of god it doesn’t take 30 minutes to get the pizza. Well, it didn’t take 30 minutes… it took 35. The pizza looked a little lame. It looked like it was literally thrown together. One blob of shredded basil on one side of the pizza… the dough was not consistently rolled out, so there were doughy parts and then some WAY over cooked parts. My favorite part of the whole visit was when someone left beer in their glass when they left and one of the bartenders downed it. So. Gross. It could have been because they were busy, but I think that is kind of a lame excuse… After reading the reviews about this place this morning, I think I am already over it. It looks like the place is a little inconsistent with performance…

I went to Majestic Café for my work Holiday Party last week. Here’s the breakdown: The food: Overall, the food was pretty good. The only complaint we all had was that our steak was overcooked. Unless you ordered rare, you got well done. Ours was a large party, and I know that it’s difficult to cook steaks to order for all of those people. Plus, my boss paid for it, so I didn’t care that much. The mashed potatoes were awesome, as was the appetizers we had(brie cheese and crackers, crab cakes, calamari). The service: Our server was very competent. She handled our large party well, and was quick to refill our drinks — and we drank a LOT. I would eat here again — but maybe not the steak.

Good food, server a little snotty but he warmed up towards us by the end of the meal. Had the seafood chowder delish & the fish tacos. The tacos were good but not great something was missing. My friend had the veggie burger, good flavor but could have been cooked a little longer to get a little crunch like a regular burger.

came here with some friends who were visiting from out of town and it was nice to try but probably wouldn’t make it a regular spot or anything. we tried the baked brie, samosas, michigan blackberry salad, and bacon apple melt, and shared everything for our late lunch. the baked brie was probably my favorite dish. i loved that it was in a puff pastry, aka breaded and therefore more delicious. the cheese was good and melty, came with jam, nuts, apples and berries. and it was really big. the samosas were decent and also very big — two giant ones. i’ve had better, but i’m guessing this isn’t where you go to get the best samosas. michigan blackberry salad was just a standard salad. we really just got it because we wanted to get something healthy. but we turned out to have way too much lettuce and berries already with the two appetizers that we got. the salad leaves were huge. could have been chopped up a lot better but the goat cheese was great and and the sweet vinaigrette that came with it was good in that it wasn’t too sweet. the apple bacon melt was fine but not memorable in any way. we all liked it. everything was super filling and we definitely did not need this amount of food for the three of us. oh, also we found some moldy fruit in our salad, which was off putting, but not a huge deal because these things happen. just have to be a little more careful what actually goes on the plate. we let our waitress know just so it wouldn’t happen again with the same batch and she brought us a round on the house, which was really nice of her. the service was really good, and since it was so late for lunch, we were only one of three tables in the restaurant, so that probably helped. overall a pretty decent experience, but nothing interesting enough to come back. maybe the place is better as a bar?

As much as I want to give the Majestic Café four stars, our awkward waitress is the reason it only earns three stars from me. The ambience is great for a nice meal before a show at the Magic Stick, the dinner menu has many appealing options, and the whole staff is friendly. However, our server didn’t correctly communicate my order to the kitchen and each round of drinks came very slowly. I would be more understanding about the slow bar service if they were slammed, but that wasn’t the case. Maybe our server was brand new and I should be more forgiving, but her hesitant nature didn’t inspire confidence. My husband’s meal was terrific, but his gin martini tasted«off.» He speculated they used sweet vermouth instead of dry. I’ll definitely return to the Majestic Café the next time I’m in Detroit, but this visit wasn’t quite what I was expecting. Nonetheless, I’ll admit it was great to hear sound check before the show.
