This place closed its doors few weeks ago. I’m sure it was their horrible service.

I was in Sacramento for a work trip, and we decided to trek to the Vacaville outlets. We were hungry, we saw the Chevy’s sign off the freeway, so we decided to stop. It was crowded but we were seated right away. Service was friendly but slow. Food was fair. Then a couple hours later I was sick to my stomach. :(Not good. I used to frequent a Southern CA Chevy’s location before they closed, but I wasn’t impressed with the Dixon location. I don’t think I’ll be able to stomach Chevy’s again.

Have again: the house beans are wonderful. The shrimp crab enchilada was delicious and the let me have it as part of a combo without extra cost. Not have again: the chile relleno this time had too much breading and was not tasty. The chicken tamale and rice were just ok and I could do without them.

Wow Chevy’s has gone waaaay down-hill since back in the day. Things started out fine with the always tasty chips and salsa. The entrees were another story. My fish tacos came out smelling not-so-appetizing. I suffered through one, but then felt it was not worth it, nor in my best interest to eat the other. Started feeling ill on the 1 hr drive home and immediately went to bed. The service was the pits, as well. Had to ask numerous times for my son’s dipping sauce, never got the side salad and bev refills Perhaps the cocktails are still good… otherwise steer clear. footnote: Interestingly, after posting on Facebook, many of my friends noted other horrible experiences at a Chevys scattered about Nor Cal. What a bummer.

The worst restaurant experience of my life. They took 40 mins to serve our salads and soup. Five minutes later our food was served, at room temperature. Then when we need to pay, the waitress lost our credit card. We spent twenty minutes looking for it, then finally the manager found it. I will never go there again, matter of fact, I will never go to a Chevys again. Horrible.

I used to love this Chevys… I would come here about once a month and spurge(college student budget)! Their service used to be extremely good… like the servers would check up on us and offer us suggestions on food, etc. But the last time I went there(before graduating college), our server was horrible! She disregarded us, did not care if we were low on chips & salsa, and was outright racist. I was so outraged that we tipped her a couple of dollars and wrote the manager about our experience. Definitely never going back… killed my precious Chevys experience):

BLANDBLANDBLAND. I have lived in Dixon for 40 years, I go to chevys about 3 times a year. Mainly for the bar to socialize with friends. And i have friends that want to go eat at chevys so i will go. and every time same thing. Food is bland. Way over priced for such bland food. Everything on the menu is the same for the most part, just presented a Little different. So many other dinning choices for the same price in Dixon, but they do make a good Margareta and that is the reason for the second star ;-)

I had the Santa Fe Chopped Salad; it was pretty good; but you really had to search to find any bits of chicken. The service was great, the salsa was also great.

I will NEVER eat here again. I love American Mexican restaurants, but I will never return to Chevys. I have gave this place a chance 3 different times. It was successfully terrible all three. The food is all very bland. The most recent trip I ordered the shrimp/crab enchiladas. It was easily one of the worst things I have ever ate. I could barely make my way through one enchilada. The service is decent. Not very good, but not terrible. The only reason I will ever go here again is for happy hour margaritas. Kind of hard to screw that one up. Do yourself a favor. if you are wanting Mexican food, go elsewhere. You can find better and CHEAPER at other places!

So, Chevys are not exciting. They all have the same sort of food, which is not authentic, but is generally edible. This place is the same. We have never had any problem with the food being cold or badly prepared, so I have no complaints there. I do wish they hadn’t shrunk their chip baskets to the size of a pea, but that is obviously a corporate decision. Really, guys, losing money on the tortilla chips? Oh yes, the dollar pancake sized tortillas are also a bit obnoxious. Is there anything less expensive than a tortilla? The service here is definitely hit and miss. I have had awesome servers who were on top of everything and lousy servers who got the order wrong, the total wrong, forgot to refill chips or soda and generally made a mess of everything. They have all been really friendly, however, so I tend to be forgiving. I eat here more often than I should because of the handy location off the freeway, near my exit to Davis. And honestly, I love the salsa. Why must it be so? They used to be crowded on weekend nights, but not so much anymore. Always fast seating and plenty of room for groups and kids. Watch out for the birthday singing…

Came here after a weekend of white water rafting for some food before we got home. And I really wish we didn’t. The service is bad, and the food is even worse. =( Now, I don’t come to Chevy’s that often. But when I have, it’s either in San Bruno or in Pleasanton and those locations are actually pretty good. Service is great, and food is decent. So I was incredibly disappointed with this Chevy’s. Never again! =(

If you go to this Chevy’s request Lake as your server. He is awesome. Sometimes, servers are hit and miss. They are really good or really bad. I have had both in this restaurant but when we went on Friday night, we were lucky to get Lake as our server. He was on top of everything that we needed. I love Chevy’s. I know it is fake Mexican food but who cares. I’m cheap and on a diet so I get a side of beans, a side of cheese and some free tortillas and make my own bean burritos. That meal costs $ 2.95 and is really filling when you add in the yummy chips and salsa. Plus a watermelon margarita that tastes like a slurpee. Go Lake!

My husband and I were driving from San Francisco to Boise, ID — I saw Chevy’s and had a craving for the shrimp fajitas. We don’t have Chevy’s here in Boise. I grew up in the bay area and it’s amazing once you leave, the little things that you miss. We had a 11 hour drive ahead of us — we sat down, ordered the fajitas. They came — and the problems began. We split an order — and the extra plates that they brought us were dirty. Sent those back — the waiter took his sweet time to bring us new plates. While waiting, I opened my tortillas to start eating — they were RAW! So were my husbands. Waved down the manager — he apologized and said they were having problems with the tortilla machine and it would be a few minutes for new ones. Waited… waited… finally the new ones arrived again RAW. By this time the food was cold. Needless to say — after a lengthy chit chat with the manager — he took the meal off our bill — still charged us for the two diet cokes we ordered and gave us chips and salsa for the road. I will never stop at this Chevy’s again.

Look, I know not to expect authentic mexican food from a chain restaurant especially from some shithole like Chevys. But why in gods name would you wrap a big brick of cheddar cheese in a tortilla, barely heat it, and present it to someone as a cheese enchilada? Why? That’s just fucked up and mean. My poor mother had to look at that on her plate while she ate around that mess. I had the jack cheese & chicken quesadilla which was pretty decent compared to the other shit they got on their menu. Aside from the food, both times that I’ve been here I’ve had really good waiters and they were both pleasant and very patient dealing with my aunt who is the pickiest eater on earth and spends about 10 minutes asking questions and giving extremely detailed instructions on how she wants her food.

As a poor college student, this used to be one of the places we’d go out to and splurge. Nowadays you wouldnt catch me near one of these but regardless, the good olé times did exist. One time we were just super tanked on the margaritas here and for some reason of all people, our waitress walked into the wall(I thought we were the drunk ones). So we had her sit with us at the end of her shift and really tied one on. Ah good times.

Don’t ask me why this one is better than the one in Vacaville but it is. The service is better, the food better and when I leave at least I don’t feel like I got totally ripped off. I love mexican food(if its good that is and usually the mom and pop places that aren’t chains) this is by no means the best of mexican food but for a chain its not bad and much better than the Vacaville location.

This place is a chain so you have to expect certain things. We usually always go here when we have large party’s. They have a full bar, decent food and decent staff, like any other chains depending on the time and the day your rating can change.

I used to like this place until I found sand in my rice, and the current governor had lunch here. The service has always been leukwarm at best and the food passable. The chips were even had a kind of chewy/crunchy/weird texture. I’ve been to better Chevy’s and had a much better time.

The service is not that good at this Chevy’s. Our past waitresses have ignored our table or forget a part of our meal substitutions. However, all is forgiven because of the FRESH tortillas and chips and salsa! Yum! I still love the steak fajitas and the corn mash that comes with it. The quesadillas are also delicious. Yum Yum yum. Since this is the closes Chevy’s to UC Davis, my bf and I drive here once in a while :)
