I don’t like giving bad reviews, especially on first impressions, but I did not feel welcomed. The lady behind the counter, I assume she’s the owner, based on her air of authority, was not friendly, or even hospitable. She yelled. My kid went to grab a water and I guess the lady thought somehting was going to happen, so she yelled. We slowly exited the store, to downplay the awkardness of the moment. I then saw her run across the street to deliver a latte or smoothie to the pizzaria. I assumed she wanted me to leave the store because she had to take care of her delivery. But like I said, I did not feel welcomed. I dont like low reviews, sometimes you may go into a business at a bad time, but I saw similar reviews with similar experiences, therefore I felt I needed to Unilocal about my experience. I will be going back to see if this was an isolated instance perhaps the whole of the business is better than this one individual and this experience.

Great panini sandwiches. Had the Manhattan. Owner is delightful and warm. Jill truly loves what she does. Great coffee and fantastic service. Don’t let the name of the place fool you. The food is incredible. 5 stars!

Great coffee! Great waffles! Great Owner! I moved to Dobbs a year ago and discovered this wonderful café. The owner, Jill, is truly amazing – a gracious host and wonderful barista. She makes perfect coffee and a variety of other homemade goodies. If you’re in Dobbs, you have to try this place!

Good coffee, good food, good service. I come here often with friends, and by myself. I can’t understand why there are reviews saying the owner is rude. She goes above and beyond to serve the customers and she works really hard and quickly. She remembers everyone’s regular drinks and she cares about her business.

It was definitely a pleasure when I stopped in to this establishment for a cup. of coffee. The coffee is much better than the chain shops and the pastries are pretty good as well. Also the server was a delight. I will make this a regular stop.

I remember when this place first opened up, my best friend and I went to check it out and see if it’ll be our new spot since we’re always scouring for new cool places. We get there only to find a barren place(ok, ok so it’s it just opened up). We place our order from the very very scant menu offering only coffee, gelato and simple panini. We saw they offered free wifi so it was only natural we bust out our laptops to get some work done. The chicken cheese melt panini we got was at best bland and dry, and the coffee was… forgettable at most. We stayed their for approximately 30min by which time I was ready to go because of the unwelcome stare we were getting from the owner who also happened to be the one who took our order. As we were leaving I asked the snooty owner if this was a place one can come and hang out to get some food and work done. She looked incredulously at me and said a little of both but sounded like she wanted to say«get the food and get the fuck out.» Mind you we were the only customers there— the entire time!!! We never went back again! I missed the old restaurant that was there before – they welcomed people of all races and had the best food and music on Thursday nights. This place is okay. I’ve had better. Coffee’s are expensive, and not the best. Iced lattes/coffees, I’ve had better… especially for the price. The place is really cute, and I love the idea of this place. In the summer they open up all the windows, so the place feels like it is outside. I have definitely sat there for an afternoon and did work, it really is relaxing, just wish the drinks/baked goods were more impressive.

I stopped in after dinner one night to pick up a coffee and some gelato. My coffee wasn’t bad, certainly a step above chain coffee and the gelato was rather good as well. Fast forward a few days: I stop in after getting out of work early so I can try a panini(I’d never had one from here before). After placing my order and waiting quite a long time for it, I realize they made me the wrong kind. Upon asking the guy to correct it, he gets very rude and defensive telling me I definitely asked for a Tuscan panini and not a Classic panini. After arguing for a bit, he grabbed the panini and said he’d make a new one. He then started to whisper to the girl behind the counter about how they should just close up the store. I’d give one star for the rude service and terrible attitude, but he did give me my money back, so that will get them a second star. I don’t know if I’ll ever go back, though. Oh, and the panini? Not that great.

I went here with a living social coupon and was not very impressed. The owner was working by herself and she was pretty rude. They have a big sign that says that they have paninis, soups and salads. I asked what their soups were and she rudely told me they stopped serving soups in March. When I light heatedly told her that the sign when you first walk in still advertises soup she just glared at me. They have a huge sign that says to alert them if you have good allergies, so I told her that I wanted lunch, but I have a gluten allergy and again she just glared at me. She had two friends sitting at a table near by, and I think she just wanted to get back to talking to them. Uncomfortable I asked her if there was anything I could eat besides a salad, in which she replied, «nope» and again just glared at me. I got a salad with turkey, almonds and peppers. She asked if I wanted roasted or regular peppers, I said regular, but she gave me roasted. The turkey was just rolled up cold cut slices and there was barely any almonds. My iced coffee was pretty good though. I definitely don’t think it was worth 10 dollars for both of them. Also, what kind of coffee shop doesn’t have a bathroom? Coffee makes you pee!

I’ve edited this review… no reason a first bad impression has to be a lasting one. They’ve worked out the kinks and made some improvements. No sense in having an old review haunting a business.

Such a cute café– very Dobbs Ferry! Great options for breakfast, brunch, lunch or even midday snack– gelato options, all sorts of latte’s and coffee, salads, panini’s, yum! You can even grab some sweets exclusive to JJ, made by the owner! They also have Hale & Hearty Soups and Del’s Frozen Lemonade! Definitely a must– try!

Now I have to admit, I’m not a big coffee drinker, but my brother is, so I go here every time I go up to visit my brother in Dobbs Ferry. This is the only place my brother goes for coffee and that means a lot… he’s a philosopher(I know, right!?), which means all he does is read, write and drink coffee. I drink their teas and eat their panninis and gelato. What I really like about this place, besides being new and shiny, is talking to the employees there. So far I’ve met Al, Jill, and Craig. When its slow they shoot the breeze with me and give me the skinny on local drama. What more can you ask for.

Amazing!!! JJ Beans is doing it right. A coffee house with great coffee and a friendly, warm atmosphere. If only more cafes followed this model. I stopped into JJ Beans to grab a coffee and do some work the other day. They had just opened, but everyone knew exactly what they were doing. My barista(or Beaner), Al, made one of the best Latte’s I have ever had. Next time I will have to try some of the pastries too. This place gets two thumbs up.
