Did this place really close down? That would be such a shame. This place was great! Their portions were huge and their steak and pork belly bowls were phenomenal. Though similar to Chipotle for the serving-line, choose-your-ingredients type of service — I don’t think that’s a reason to hate on this place.(Esp. Since most successful places use this technique… ie. subway, chipotle, pinkberry, etc!) Hope it’s not closed down forever!

We tried to go here Sunday night, but they’re closed for business. A sign on the door says they’re «Closed for Renovations.» Since this is a fairly new business, I can’t imagine what those«renovations» could mean. Roaches? Financial issues? I didn’t find anything on their website or twitter account mentioning the shut down. I doubt I’ll venture back into the Heart of Darkness known as Downey just to see if they’ve ironed out their issues. Too bad. I liked this place.

The food was full of fat, the beans were to black, the rice… Well uh,… The guy cutting the meat had no idea what he was doing, he man handled that brisket like a silver back gorilla with a poodle and didn’t know how to cut it. Um, here’s a picture of my pork belly… can I add pictures?

I was in between a 3 and a 4. The food was ok I had the steak brisket sandwich and some fries. The sandwich was good(not spectacular) and the fries weren’t the best. No spectacular service. The menu is a little confusing too isn’t very friendly and easy to order.

Came here before a class at Downey Regional. I honestly was not expecting much, but the food here was amazing. I think what I like the most is that your meat is carved to order. The guy let me try different types of meat until I was satisfied with the prime-cut. I got the prime-cut steak bowl with loads of different toppings. I also liked that they have a lot of different options, so I imagine every time I go I will be working on fine tuning my order. The only negative was the fries, I felt like they needed more salt but it’s really a personal preference. Also, I need a spicier salsa! I asked the gal which was the spiciest and she said the chipotle salsa, and she even warned my boyfriend and I to get it on the side«just in case it’s too hot». I appreciate the warning, but I was disappointed that it had that smoky/sweet chipotle taste rather than a fire in your ass taste.

What is the point of this place? Looks like someone tried to take Chipotle’s model of «assembly line» toppings and sides, but didn’t know how to make it work. No flavor, no focus. I just don’t see what this place is trying to do. Pizza, sandwiches, wraps, bowls, burritos, plates. Seems like a lot is going on. They need to pick three and focus on those. Not wasting my time coming back to this place. Nothing stood out.

If I could give them 10 stars I would! AMAZING customer service! So great and friendly. I usually get the adobo chicken sandwich and it is ALWAYS neat like it was coming out of a picture. Always a great experience here:)

Driving down Firestone Blvd, Scott and I were discussing what to have for lunch today. He kept saying IHop, I kept mentioning everything else. We came across the plaza of dining places and Fresh Cutt caught both mine and Scotts attention. It was a little before lunch time, and we were able to walk in and order immediately. We informed the staff that it was our first visit and they were very helpful. I ordered the the chicken salad /bowl. The helping was much more than I had expected. The chicken was grilled to a juicy perfection. I added avocado and I swear they must have given me an entire avocado. Scott is a meat and potatoes kinda man, he order the beef, pinto beans, shrimp, pita bread and french fries. Usually Scott is a picky eater, but to my delight he said we would definitely come back! It was a delightful lunch date. Great restaurant and good food.

Not bad at all. Had a chance to try it with a Groupon and it was a good experience. Yes, it is a similar concept to Chipotle but the food doesn’t taste the same and Fresh Cutt has more variety. I had the shrimp bowl with lettuce, rice, beans and all kind of veggies and it was flavorful and filling. On a side note, what I hate most about this entire Downey plaza in general is the stupid parking lot which makes absolutely no sense.

I heard about this place on KTLA. I also purchased the groupon deal. Its very similar to Chipolte. I had the pita wrap with steak and the steak was very tender and juicy. My sister had pork belly sandwich and pork belly was delicious. I also tried their fries and it’s very similar to In/Out. The layout is very nice and clean. It’s across from Portos Bakery. There is parking in the back too.

At first I thought that the food was going to be bland and plain because of some pictures I’ve seen, but NOPE! I WASWRONG! When you first walk in, you order toward the right side of their restaurant. I think they should put a sign like«Order Here» so people don’t look dumb just standing there, like me –__– hahah. Anyways, there are so many items on the menu that you can customize yourself including a burrito, pita wrap, sandwich, pizza, salad/bowl, and a plate and you can choose your type of meat. The meat includes fire wok chicken, adobo chicken, fire wok steak, prime cutt steak, and chipotle pork belly. So far I’ve tried a Cajun Shrimp Po-Boy Sandwich and OHBOYY it was juicy! The shrimp was cooked just right(not over cooked) and their sauces are so flavorful! I’ve also tried The Ultimate Salad with Prime Cutt Steak and it was GOOOOD! The prime cutt steak was so tender and melted in my mouth. Their sauces are all freshly made every morning and the sauces in the salad was great as well. This will definitely be my new spot! UPDATE: They have a sign that tells you where to go now!!:D

Skeptical at first… but proved to be a good place. Its an assembly line process similar to Chipotle but with different ingredients. You get to choose from 4 types of meat from chicken, beef, pork and shrimp. i was able to sample each one and they each had their own characteristics. Some are offered in two different style of cooking. Wok blackened which has a slight kick to it. And grilled marinated. I decided after tasting all the meats choices to go with the Chipotle Pork Belly. Even though the word Pork Belly creates a sense of awareness that it is unhealthy, their pork belly was not greasy and covered in fat. They took out a huge slab of pork belly which looked really delicious and started slicing it. I ordered a place and had them fill it up with rice, beans, tomato salad, their house slaw, cheese. At first, I was asking myself how was all of these ingredients going to work with each other? But when I started digging into my plate of food, I realized how everything worked together very well. The flavors with all their ingredients complemented other ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the house slaw. At $ 10 bucks an order roughly, its a bit on the pricey side especially its a bit more on the healthy eating side, I was left hungry after 2 hours. Nonetheless, I will come back to try other combinations.

My visit here wasn’t planned but somehow ended up here. You may have heard this before and to no surprise the staff themselves refer to «Fresh Cutt Carving Grill» as something similar to Chipotle-it’s kind of true. You have the similar options: burrito, bowl, salad but then you also have, pita/pizza and a few additional sides. They allowed me to sample some of their meats and I have to say I think their two chicken options are better than Chipotle’s. They were tender and both full of different flavors. The no longer enforce the«add 5 items» to you build your own. So for those of you that like to eat, pack on the sides. Personally the few items I selected were more than enough. Flavors in the food are good, the service was equally as pleasing. Let’s hope it stays this way. My conclusion, it’s good and although the set-up is similar to Chipotle the flavors are very different. Give it a try.

The name to this place is sort of misleading. I went in thinking there would be roast beef being sliced to order, turkey, things of that sort. I assumed carving meant that, but no… What I saw was just another build your own burrito type place, like a chipotle but with a bit more choices. Don’t get me wrong, the meats were tasty and tender. I was just expecting to have a plate with some carved turkey, mashed potatoes, and veggies. The food is good, but the idea unoriginal.

I think it’s relatively difficult to get a 5 star rating. Especially when you just opened. However, I love this place. A friend surprised me by dropping by my office to go to lunch. We were going to Bastards but they don’t open till noon. Then we decided on Porto’s, they’re always good. However, curiosity got the best of me, luckily, and I saw Fresh Cutt had just opened. We decided to check it out. Upon entering. Nice! Fresh, open, well lit and smelling of good tasty food. I had actually just eaten but suddenly found myself salivating. We weren’t sure what to do. So we stood their dumb faced for a few second before we were nicely instructed to the counter and given a menu. Short and to the point. As we perused the the choices one of the guys behind the counter asked if we wanted to taste anything first. We did. I am a big fan of pork belly so I gladly agree to taste theirs. My friend chose the prime steak. So, oddly, from under the counter guy #2 pulls out a slab of cooked pork belly and cutts a square. Guy #1 hands to me on a toothpick and I carefully enjoy this morsel of goodness and fat. Like a mild über-think chunk of bacon yumminess. They present my friend with his and easy as mud pie we decide our lunch. I, the Asian pork belly(that is not to be me nickname thank you) made into a burrito. He, the prime steak wrapped the same. From there we get to decide the inners much like building your own sandwich at Subway BUT… and I repeat BUT, with amazing flavor. Hungry, I wasn’t. Starved, I seemed. Overall the food was fantastic. Fast, clean, nice service and delicious. Oh and the price was certainly a value. Except $ 2 for drink, ugh. I highly recommend you try this place. It’s a Fresh Cutt, above the next.

I just had to Pork Belly Sandwich and it was DELICIOUS!!! :) Everything on their menu looked really good. I mean, how can you go wrong with selecting your own toppings and sauce?! :) The pork belly was moist and juicy! That’s probably the most fattening thing on the menu, but the rest was very healthy. My friend had the Adobo Chicken Plate and she said it was very good. The reason why I’m giving this place four stars is because of the confusion of where the line begins. I went to the right side because I saw a welcome sign, but I also noticed people going on the left, and pretty soon, we were all bunched up in the middle. That was the only weird part for me, but aside that the food itself was fantastic. :)

Love, love, love! I have been here twice, once by myself and once with a couple of co-workers. Reminiscent of Chipotle when you walk in, you stand in line on one side, order, then they make your food as you walk along and tell them what you want. They have build-your-own pitas, sandwiches, wraps and plates, but you can also order their signature sandwiches and wraps, even a pizza on a pita. Both times I have gotten the Asian Pork Belly Sandwich. Amazing flavor. It comes with jalapeño cilantro sauce, chipotle pork belly, Asian slaw(made with cucumber, YUM), and a spicy red sauce on a chibata roll. Ahh, I am drooling just typing this. One of my coworkers got the build-your-own salad bowl, the other did a build-your-own pita and they were both very impressed as well. The place is new, clean and modern. Everything is fresh and tasty. They even had a gal walking the line giving meat samples as we were waiting in line. The only thing I will point out(and I hope a member of management will read this) is that the first time I went in, the chibata roll was nice and soft, lightly toasted, melt in your mouth kind of bread. Second time it was hard and over toasted. It was hard to bite into. That will make or break a sandwich, so the cooks should know that. That was the ONLY thing that kept this from bieng a 5 star location for me. Keep it up Fresh Cutt. You have found a new lunch fan in me!

This restaurant is located immediately across from Porto’s Cuban Bakery and has been open for only about two weeks. Seems they’re still ironing out the kinks, however food quality, staff friendliness and value were all high. The restaurant is new and very clean, offering casual dining where you order at the counter. However, upon entering we entered, we were a little disoriented as to which end of the counter orders are placed. The menu is not posted above the counter, and there are no clear directions. We started towards our left, but then we noticed a single page menu on the right wall, so we went there instead. A couple that came after us had no problems since they just followed us, but it’s a bit confusing if there’s no one in line and it’s your first time there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They noticed our confusion right away and came over to explain the menu. They offer a number of sandwiches and«build your own» where you select from various meats such as Fire Wok or Adobo Chicken, steak or shrimp, with up to 5 toppings included like grilled vegetables, beans, corn, tomatoes, rice, etc. We ordered their Prime Cutt Steak on a plate with grilled vegetables, rice, green salad, chopped tomatoes and lav-ash bread. The steak was soft, lean and very tasty. Portions were generous, and a great value at $ 7.50 a plate. My only complain were the grilled vegetables; somewhat over cooked with tough asparagus. Some side dishes like avocado salad incur an extra charge of $ 1.50. Overall, I give it a high recommendation. Thank you for reading.

I have been to this place twice now and I have to say, I love it. The employees are all very friendly and the food is really good. I have now tried the pork belly, the adobo chicken and the steak. They are all good but the winners for me were the adobo and the pork belly. Amazing flavors and absolutely some of the most tender meat I have ever had. I have always liked Chipotle but I have to say this place is better. At first I was a little dismayed at their prices and the size of the menu, but this last time I went back I saw that they had lowered their prices significantly and made their menu smaller and easier to understand. Thank goodness. Their prices are now more similar to Chipotle’s. Highly recommended as well for vegetarians and those on a gluten free diet. I was veg for a number of years and I still look at menus with a critical eye as to how much of a selection they have for vegetarians. This place is very veggie friendly. Also, as someone recently gluten intolerant, I struggle to find gluten free options. This place has lots for GF individuals to enjoy. Yay! Thanks Fresh Cutt!

I’ve finally been to this place twice and feel ready to give a knowledgable review. I honestly really like this place. The food quality is amazing compared to competitors like Chipotle. I’ve also found the staff to be extremely nice and helpful when making a purchase. There is quite a bit of choice, which is a good thing in my mind, but it ends up taking longer to make a decision on what to eat. I’ve personally tried the burrito, the sandwich, and the pitezza and I thought all were good, but the steak sandwich was my favorite and will probably be my go to now that I’ve tried it. The only issue with the place is sometimes it takes longer than you would expect to get your food. Honestly I think its just rustiness that should wear off as the workers get more used to their roles hopefully. The price is also a little higher than I would expect, but I think the quality makes up for it. I have lived in Downey nearly my entire life and it has always been lacking in healthy good quality restaurants for as long as I can remember. I really hope this place gains a following and sticks around. I for one will be eating here at least once a week and trying out some more combinations.
