This place is just treading water. It’s like they gave up a few years ago. All the dishes are poor at best. Some things are edible like cheese wontons and egg rolls but that’s not what you go to a buffet for. Stay away, Drive to Lancaster and go to Manor buffet it’s great.

I have been to King buffet in the past and there is very little I actually like to eat here. Buy my son, who is college insisted that we go, because it was something he remembered from his childhood, so of we went. As usual, there was a minimal amount of cab legs and the ones there were very anemic looking. The clarified butter had LOTS of unidentifiable, solid crumbs floating around in it. And the sushi looked down right scary, sitting in the open with a minimal amount of ice/refrigeration, for extended periods of time. To be fair, the people are super friendly when they greet you at the door, but beyond that there is minimal interaction. Perhaps a college pallet is the only one that can enjoy this atmosphere.

We were just there on Friday June 10. The restaurant is small and has a really dark atmosphere with outdated décor. Rude wait staff that are extremely inattentive and had to be chased down just to get refills on drinks. We asked another waitress(since ours disappeared) if we could get more napkins and she acted like it was completely beneath her. She brought some napkins that were about as good as tissue paper and practically tossed them at us. Then there’s the food. The peel and eat shrimp were completely tasteless. The calamari were so overdone that I couldn’t even chew them. They ran out of shrimp on the hibachi grill and when my husband told one of the staff, he refused to put any more out. When my husband asked him why, the guy stuttered a few words in Spanish and then said they had run out of shrimp. The crab legs had been boiled instead of seemed like they should have and they were completely waterlogged and tasteless. The restaurant needs to decide if it is Chinese or Mexican. A lot of the food had jalapeño, which Chinese do not use. They either use ginger or wasabi for heat. The ice cream was more like a milk shake. We will never be back again.

For the few brave souls giving this place 4 or 5 stars and wondering why there are multiple 1 star reviews ask yourself the following litmus test question. Are WE all crazy giving a dirt cheap Chinese buffet a low rating… OR just maybe you have the taste palate of a billy goat and therefore its a 5 star place to you because its price is competitive with Burger King. The entire place creeps me out. When you enter you are greeted by giant fish tanks that are overloaded with giant goldfish which is pretty disgusting once you smell the tank. I understand its a luck thing in China and I love fish/aquariums in general but these things actually creep me out. It’s like something out of a third world pet shop. The food sucks plain and simple. Unfortunately I don’t have the lexicon to adequately describe how disgusting some of the dishes are but lets just say you probably need to stick to just rice and egg rolls(safe things). I wouldn’t touch 75% of the dishes. Most of it is just deep fried items or low grade meat dishes. Add on that the average person dining in the place looks like they are at risk for diabetes and you are dealing with a 1 star place at best. I don’t care how cheap the food is… this place is gross.

Food was out for a long time and in poor quality. I came for dinner on a Thursday night at 6pm and they were adding fresh food with the old food. It wasn’t helping matters any. If all the food was fresh I would’ve given it a better rating. They need to learn to throw out the old rubbery, leathery crap and only serve the fresh. I have been coming here for almost 8 years and it’s the worst it’s ever been.

We wanted a chinese-type buffet but didn’t want to go to a busy area like the Plymouth Meeting Mall. We had just found out about this place and decided to try it. We went at 7pm when they close at 9. They did not refill several dishes even though about a dozen more customers came in. There were 4 pieces of crappy sushi left and no more came out. Most of the food had been sitting there for some time and the salmon was dried out. The white rice was nearly empty and was also never refilled. We managed to find a few things to choke down, and fed our kids some fruit and jello… because, really, how can you mess up those? When the bill came, it was over $ 40 for 2 adults, a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old! Insane. I have no idea how they get away charging that much for such terrible selection and all around experience. The kids alone were $ 12 total, which is $ 6 a piece… we have had much better buffet food at places who don’t even charge for a 2 yr old and charge about $ 3 or $ 4 for the 5 yr old. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. An entire rip-off.

i would make sure to go at peak hours so the food is at its freshest, and go during a time, usually during a holiday, when they’re serving the lobster with ginger/scallion, which is just fantastic for the price, it is unbeatable if you go at other times, it may not be as good

Decent Chinese buffet at a reasonable price. A wide variety of food with a smattering of American fare too. Nice sushi section too. The only downside is other guests frequently play videos on their phones without headphones loudly.(Happened the last three times I was there.) Really annoying and the staff does nothing about it.

My husband said he wanted to go to Chuck. E. Cheeses next door kiddingly. We should have gone there instead. This place has terrible service, smells off around the buffets themselves, and is all around«I wish I had checked Unilocal first» material.

Low quality food that sits for a long time and they don’t restock the items that run out. Not worth the money you have to pay

I cannot believe this mace only got 1.5 stars on Unilocal.I know this is not a fine cuisine restaurant, but that is ok once you consider the price($ 10 for lunch and $ 15 for dinner, all you can eat). I personally prefer to go there for dinner. Food is fresher and you get a better selection. They also have crab for dinner — yes, all you can eat Alaskan Snow White crab. They used to oversalt it but recently it has been just right. They used to have very decent oysters but they don’t any more. About five variations of sushi are available. They also have hibachi(where you pick out raw ingredients and they cook it for you to taste). In terms of protein, they have chicken 100 ways, salmon(a little overlooked), some steak, pork, and usually a cooked shrimp and a shrimp cocktail. Cocktail shrimp is completely tasteless but cooked shrimp is decent. And — no food poisoning ever, after having eaten there at lest 20 times. Once again, the place is not perfect, but it is the best Chinese Buffett around.

I really wish I would have checked Unilocal before I walked in the door. If you have to spit questionable food into your napkin more than once, you know you made a mistake! Poor service too! Aweful!

We ventured into this restaurant and later wished that we had not. It is the worst Chinese buffet that I have ever eaten at. We went in at 7pm on a Sat. night which should be a very busy time, but there were many empty tables. Understandably, since the locals know that this place is terrible. The entrees and appetizers only filled one station. Never have I seen pizzas, buffalo wings, pigs in the blanket and macaroni & cheese at a Chinese buffet. The typical choices of beef & broccoli, beef lomein and General Tso’s chicken looked unappetizing and also did not taste great. There were no shumai, Gyoza dumplings or bao as in good Chinese buffets. The only premium item was tiny tasteless crab legs. No garnishes, like fried noodles or scallions for the soups were available. The desserts and salads were all located in one station and again the selection was very limited and poor. There was not even Jell-O! The Mongolian grill station was dark and no one there to prepare the made-to-order grilled items. The steam table trays are not replenished and allowed to remain empty. At the end of the meal, the waitress gave me a broken fortune cookie. She, however, willingly gave me an unbroken cookie after I requested one. The accolades and awards posted at the cashier wall are from 2002 — 2005. Since there are no recent accolades, this is a definite sign of its lack of quality. If you want authentic Chinese buffet, the King Buffet in Plymouth Meeting, PA is excellent. Do not waste your money and time at this place.

Sometimes you need to listen to your instincts. After getting a few things in a local hardware store, my wife suggested we get Chinese for dinner, and that the nearby place, King Buffet, was a place she was at for lunch a few years ago and it was good. To me, this breaks a cardinal rule: Never eat at a place where the word«Buffet» is in the restaurant’s name. Still, my wife ate there, so we gave it a shot. Each booth had a paper sign taped to the wall stating that«eating raw meats and shellfish can increase your chances of food-borne illness». Oh great — That’s not reassuring. The buffet was bad. I don’t have any other way to say it. The pepper steak was cold, the egg rolls had an off-taste like frostbite from being in the freezer too long(not that I know if they were, but that’s what they tasted like). I wish I had something positive to say… Well, the fountain Cokes weren’t flat. I can give them that. At $ 14 a pop, you can do far better IMHO.

Fortunately I didn’t find any feathers on my chicken, but I did find a new hibachi grill. It’s been a few years since I’ve eaten here and it has changed slightly. The hibachi grill for one, which tasted pretty good. My family and I were looking at each other saying ‘this is it?‘ But then I realized the missing foods were just crappy ones anyway. Finished it off with dessert because they were actually soft/fresh. Went on an early Saturday night. Pricier than expected.

One of the worst Chinese you will ever have. A forgettable experience to say the least. The fried chicken that my daughter put in her plate both had feathers(more seemed like hair) sticking out. The manager, a not so pleasant character, explained that it is the fault of the supplier and that the restaurant is not really to be blamed. The Chinese section(serving noodles etc.) had most of the items served stale. They used to have ice-cream in the dessert section. Now you press the handle and out comes yogurt. The stick chicken, one of my favorites, was smelling rather stale too. The chicken smelt like it had been cooked a few days back. And this is on a Saturday morning where these restaurants generally serve fresh food. In fact there were other customers complaining about the food too. I have moved to Malvern with family last August and has been going to this buffet ever since mainly for my kids. I think this place is going down fast. It used to be rather decent a few months back. Experiences in my last few visits here are nothing but full of disappointment. Time to look for another place. My suggestion to you all would be to definitely avoid this joint. Especially for families with kids. It is unhealthy here.

This place has gone down hill for sure — either they got new kitchen staff or mgmt but the quality is poor. They used to have this seafood pasta covered w/cheese that was yummy that is gone. They have this«crabmeat» stuff now covered w/cheese which is bland beyond belief. Their chicken kabob(on stick) used to have this brownish marinade and a nice flavor now is tough and red-colored? What flavor is red? Mercury dye? Ugh. My daughter noticed the egg rolls were smaller and she said not as good as before. They used to have won ton soup in the deep soup compartment now put in a shallow pan on the buffet line. There were about 5 won tons floating in the broth when I saw it. Didn’t even dare try it since the broth was foggy. Used to eat here at least 1/month this was our 2nd visit in 3 months and the one before wasn’t that wonderful but we gave a 2nd chance and now regret it.

Went there for the special Valentines Day Lobster and Crab buffet. A BIGMISTAKE. I feel taken. It was about $ 60 for three of us and we got zero real lobster. Worse yet is they herd you like cattle to stand in the middle of the walkway to wait for them to keep refreshing the lobster when they only put enough in for one person. They must get a deal on the broken scary parts of lobster because I could barely even make it out. It was a JOKE and I feel like it was a BIG bait and switch and almost feel robbed. This is our second time and the only reason we went back was for seafood(crab legs and lobster) however they were impossible to get unless you wanted to wait in line that really never got you anything. Glad I was able to vent and I hope that you go to the Olive Garden or somewhere else where you can at least have a nutritious dinner. I asked to talk to the manager to let them know my concerns and I can tell you that they weren’t really concerned about me.

My parents, when they wish to go out to eat, tend to stick to buffets, which is how I’ve come to eat at this place on some occasions. The food is okay. The seafood items in the buffet are good. The mussels and clams have great sauces; the snow crab legs are good as well and are refilled fairly often. Also, because they don’t have an alcohol license, you’re welcome to bring your own libations.

King Buffet is in the class of Buffet places where there are 4 food lines — Chinese, Fried, Seafood, and Dessert. The Chinese food is passable. The fried food is pretty poor in general and the Seafood(except for the peel-n-eat shrimp) is also pretty bad. They have Wonton and Hot & Sour soups which are decent. They have some«maki rolls» but the quotes denote their quality — they’re a far stretch from decent maki. They offer what might be called pastries in a twisted parallel universe as well as soft ice cream. Decent vegetarian options available but nothing that«feels» very good for you. All in all this is a great place to go to pack on a lot of hardcore calories and to gorge yourself on fried food, but only the Chinese food is actually passable. In my opinion this place is an exercise in self-destruction and as such the wife and I have banned ourselves from going. You won’t feel like you did yourself right.
