I consider myself something of a Mexican food snob. I eat it a lot and being from Southern California I know what good Mexican food is… this is not. In fact this may be the worst I have ever had and that’s saying a lot. For starters the chips appear to be store bought and if they aren’t they taste like it. Then to go with the chips the salsa looks for all the world like Pace Pecante sauce… right out of the jar. The food was cold and that’s kind of weird because it came out on what was described as a «very hot» plate, but after the plate was put down I needed to move it a little and it was not even warm. The taco was soggy, one of the other people at our table had a quesadilla that was soggy as well. The enchilada tasted like it was from a frozen Costco bag. I had the sweet pork and it would have been better suited for a BBQ joint… too sweet. Then to top it off it was very expensive, especially for the very poor taste and quality. Will not be returning. BTW, this was at 5:00 pm on Saturday.

Great service and ice cold beer that was the highlights. Old frost burnt wings that were worse then dumbstruck food! Three day old nasty tomatoes on my food, soggy fryer tortillas with canned beans and non existent flavore on the shredded beef! What a disappointment! Don’t expect a lot but eddabl would have been nice!

Seafood enchiladas are the best I have ever had here. They use real Alaskan king crab, not imitation crab like at other restaurants. The salsa is chunky and that is a good thing. We like lemons in our water and she brought a whole bowl. Impressive.

It pretty much tastes how it sounds. Like bland Tex-Mex. It’s not the worst food in town or anything, but it’s only mediocre. The restaurant was clean though, and our server was very friendly. Unfortunately cleanliness and passable service aren’t enough to keep me coming back.

Despite bad reviews I went to this place only to realize that the food is the worst. The fish tacos were smelling rotten. Chile rellenos were also smelling bad. The food quality is extremely poor. I DONOT recommend this place.

I’m going to give these guys the benefit of the doubt and give a 3 star rating. I came for lunch and had the burrito and taco special. It tasted fine, but was definitely more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican. The ingredients seemed to have been in a can and weren’t very fresh. I also thought that based on this, things were overpriced by about $ 1.50. It’s not a bad place to eat, but I was expecting something more authentic and a bit fresher tasting.

Food is ok. Food is a little over priced. Peaking is ok. Easy access. Wouldn’t go out of your way to eat there. More of an Americanized Mexican food that is about 30% higher priced then it should be.

This place may be subpar honestly. But it was packed, and I’ve also heard people speak highly of it for a long time now. I just have never been there before. It definitely wasn’t my favorite by any means though. Like I said however, it was packed, so there are people who seem to enjoy this joint. I just felt everything was very mediocre. Very Americanized. Very heavy. Nothing is super flavorful or well seasoned. The service was fine. I didn’t mind my server at all. It’s very casual. Lots of Ute hoodies and A line haircuts. Lots of re-fried beans and cheese. Every dish gives you the option of chicken or beef, it’s just a question of where you want your protein in conjunction with your tortilla. Do you want it in the tortilla like a taco, or rolled up like a burrito? Would you like it on the side and then you can put the protein in the tortilla yourself? How about you put the tortilla on your head, and the protein on your crotch, and you have to figure out how to eat both without using your hands? I mean, every single option is exactly the same and it’s all mediocre. There’s a million options for Mexican food in this exact area. So don’t feel obligated to come here by any means, unless you wear Affliction shirts and drive a huge truck and are balding so you cover it up with your Utes cap and plan on going next door to Donkey Tails to hit on recently divorced women in their early 40s after your done eating canned re-friend beans.

Service was pretty slow at first. I had to flag someone down to take our table(we waited atleast 15 minutes before). After that the service was a little better. The rice was dry and crunchy. Pretty flavorless. Their sweet pork is true to the name. It is really really sweet. I couldn’t eat mine. Sopapillas are delicious but not worth returning for.

Gave this place a try, not impressed. The staff was meh… And the salsa was like pace picante sauce. I will give them a thumbs up on the enchilada sauce, tasted homemade not out of a can. The shredded chicken tastes more like pork, reminded me of café rio, where the meat stews all day in a big pot. I prefer fresh chicken. Ordered a raspberry lemonade and pretty sure it was just Hi-C Punch. Blah. The staff also dropped 3 cups during our short time there. Clumsy night. Probably won’t be back we’ll stick to a few others we have tried. Oh, and my chicken enchilada entrée was literally the same size as the children’s plate chicken enchilada, and double the price and no drink. Lame.

Pretty bad even by Utah Mexican food standards. It’s a cross between really bad cafeteria food and something you would get out of a vending machine. Just awful awful food. The server was good, nice guy and we could tell he felt bad for bringing us the food. He «knew»

My wife and I went on a Saturday night and it wasn’t super crowded. We ordered drinks first then dinner about 10 minutes later. Server brought the drinks and dinner at the same time roughly 30 minutes later. Both of our orders were wrong and when I brought this to the attention of our server she just said, «Oh, that’s weird!» and walked off. Food was not good and the drinks were not mixed well. It’s a fun atmosphere, but I don’t recommend trying it.

Pretty average fair as far as taste goes. Lunch combos are huge! Service has always been inconsistent. This place is pretty far so i wouldn’t drive here to eat. Like I said its nothing outstanding.

Being from So Cal, Guads has it going on. Not fancy but good food with spice. Most of the others are sweet or flavorless — not here. If you like good mex at a reasonable price, Guads is for you.

So I have been going to Guads for some time, but haven’t been in a while. I am sorry to say that things have changed, and not for the better. I started my meal as I usually do with the Honky Wings. This was by far the highlight of the meal. The sauce is sweet and spivey and the wings are well prepared. This is where the good food ended. I had the crab enchiladas that seemed extremely fishy. The taste was strong and bitter. My wife had a combo plates that just seemed to be covered in sauce and cheese to take away from the lack of flavor. For desert we shared a fried ice cream, which was nothing more then slightly below average. The service was decent and salsa was good, but the chips seemed stale. I may go back for the wings, but until they up their game, I will stay away from the rest of the menu. So sad to say.

I’ve been a loyal customer for over 20 years. Over the past 3 years the service and food has continually gotten worse and worse. I keep going back hoping they have improved! No such luck! With family in town visiting I thought let’s try Guads. My family had good memories of Guads from years earlier so they were excited to go. What a disappointment! Very slow, very disorganized, all the employees seem lost. Took forever to get drinks. Probably the worse margarita I’ve ever had. Almost impossible to get anyone’s attention to get ice water. Then the food finally showed up! Yuck, warm, not hot. Mushy mex with soggy tortillas. It was just not very good. A party of 6 and not one yum! After 20 years of eating Guads and getting gas, I probably won’t go back!

Guadalahonkys just doesn’t get it. I went a couple of days ago after swearing it off for years. A friend of mine was talking it up and I thought maybe they had kicked it up a notch. No, they didn’t. I really don’t understand why it has a following. I guess if I was to sum it up in two words I would say dry and canned. I guess the best thing would be the chips and salsa which are decent but it doesn’t carry the day. I love beans and rice and, here, they are completely unsatisfying. This time I tried the chili Colorado chimichanga. With a meat burrito or chimi, you don’t just cram a mass of meat in the burrito and deep fry it. Not enough sauce or cheese or fresh ingredients. If you are not going to go authentic, you’d better make it great tasting cuz you’ve already got one strike against. Don’t go to guads. Go two more minutes down the street to la hacienda. Much more satisfying.

HORRIBLESERVICEANDDISRESPECT I’ve been here a few times. The service in the Donkey tails section has always been good. But the service in the actual restaurant is never that good. This time was the worst and I don’t know if I will ever go back. After we first got there my boyfriend asked about the military discount. So she said she would need ID. He showed her his driver license, it says veteran right on it. She said she didn’t think she could take it. So he showed her his old military ID. She said she didn’t think that would work she would have to ask. Never had that problem before, disrespectful. When we got our food we didn’t have silverware, so we waited for her to come back so we could wave her down. She wasn’t too good with refills. I know those are minor but it’s like it was one thing after another. Then my boyfriend was drinking his beer and he had drank a lot of it when he noticed there was nasty crusted food on the inside of his cup. There was a good amount of food. So we waved her down again and told her. She said gross would you like another one. When we got the bill she had charged us full price for the beer that he didn’t finish because of the gross cup. Then to top it off I got a gift cards for my birthday from . when we went to use it she said sorry we can’t do more than one discount. How is my gift card a discount? Then she said that in order to use that gift card you would have to have an order that was twice as much as the gift card. So because my gift card was 25 I would have to spend 50. So I would have had to buy more food just to use the gift card. And we wouldn’t be able to use the military discount if we paid with the gift card. Tell me how that makes sense. I will never go to the restaurant side again. I might just quit going to the Donkey tails side as well. We usually only go to the restaurant when we have the kids with us.

Funny Place. I’ve been here more than a few times, and every time the service is good. Attentive, clean, really friendly and the staff aims to please. The food has good flavor. Moreso than most Mexican restaurants. But dang, the food is really salty. You can taste the flavor, once you get through all that salt. I loved the food, but drove home and drank a gallon of water the rest of the night. Tells me the recipes are good, but ramjet the rookie is back there with a salt shaker and he knows no bounds. Like, licking the Bonneville salt flats kinda good. They’ve been around 25 years for a reason. Worth a visit for better than average Mexican food. Fire the salt guy. It’s *Almost* there.
