Chicken was OK. Fried okra was barely warm and our drive thru order was all mixed up. We waited a long time with only one car in front of us. So, the cashier walked outside to take our card — probably so we didn’t drive off. Another 5 minutes later he reads our order back to us with something we didn’t order. We didn’t order mashed potatoes, but we paid for them. The cashier looked at my husband and insisted this was what he ordered. Sometimes, it’s just easier to move on. So we paid for mashed potatoes, and maybe we will eat them. BUT, my order was missing my roll. And we had to go back for our drinks. What a mess! Be careful what you pay for and check your order… and maybe avoid the okra.

Good food but it takes a year to actually get your food. After my third time here, same result. Average time in the drive through line has been ten minutes with only one car in front of me.

I’ve been a customer since they opened. LOVE the sweet tea! Although they have been through several employees, I always feel welcomed and greeted with a smile. I’ve heard people complain about slow service on days they are short-handed. That is not the employees fault and people need to have respect. I’ve only had to wait a couple of times and honestly it wasn’t bad at all. Clean place and I would recommend!

I was customer number one at the DS Chicken Express. You know that day. 20 extra people to assist; corporate brass in suits walking around kissing your booty making sure your first impression was a good one. Every item cooked to perfection. Its always 5 stars on that day especially in a small town where restaurants can be counted on two hands. That first impression has since been forgotten. I quite sure the entire starting staff is gone. Best thing I can say is they do seem to keep the place clean. Today’s visit was in fact the worst meal I’ve had since it opened. A 4 piece tenders with fries and a dinner roll to celebrate my kiddo’s success at school. Tenders were barely warm and dried out by the heat lamps. Gravy was barely warm. And if that wouldn’t piss you off I bit into a bone in a chicken tender. The staff barely acknowledged my complaint and didn’t offer to replace any portion of my meal. Our community had hoped for a better product than the other chicken place located in a gas station. I’m sorry to say, this CE has taken a huge dive in quality.

Drive thru not working tonight, had to go inside. Must have been 10 – 12 people waiting around for their to go orders. Got two of the 4 wing specials and ordered a family style cold slaw to go. They were out of cold slaw at 6:00 pm, so I got the last two individual cups of slaw. When I got home the slaw must have been made this morning, it was the bottom of the barrel. The wings were the smallest I’ve ever had there and they tasted like they were fried an hour or two before. The cashier said they were shorthanded, and the quality and service proved that. This place has been going downhill since they opened and must have a franchise owner who never comes in or works at this location. If you want better fried chicken, drive to the Golden Fried at the Y. The owner is typically working the drive thru and has for years. The service is much better and the food is far superior.

So I love chicken express. I love there food and I love the service. Except for the last time I went. I was fired a couple months ago from chicken express. And for the first time I walked back in there to enjoy some chicken. All the staff was not nice to me. But this one kid said to me «your not welcome here». I was like wtf. I am a freaking customer. My money is the same as everyone else’s. I help pay his damn salary. It was rude and unfair. I would recommend eating some where else. Thx Chase.

A welcome addition to fast food in Dripping Springs. The plump, juicy, crispy fried chicken and spicy hot wings are delicious, and I love having a selection of vegetable side dishes. The restaurant is bright, clean and well managed, with polite, helpful servers. Highly recommended!

Pretty good food. Its a fast food chicken place not too exciting. Clean inside, nice staff, quick. Sometimes the chicken can be a little dry but that’s only occasional.

The food might be pretty good for a fast food establishment, but I’ll probably never know. My husband and I stood for nearly 10 minutes behind an employee who was ordering several dinners while the cashier felt compelled to describe each part of the order to him. Then, without even glancing our way, the cashier walked over to a woman who had just come up to the counter to make an inquiry about the soda machine. Say what? We weren’t even wearing our invisibility cloaks! Meanwhile, another employee had approached the second cash register, fiddled around with it for a minute and wandered away. I was somewhat mollified that he ignored both of us and the other woman, even though she had tried to get his attention. It was at that point that we concluded that this restaurant had more than enough business and we shouldn’t bother them with ours. No customer service(not just poor) will earn a restaurant a one star rating from me every time. I’m sure there are other chicken places in the Dripping Springs area that are more deserving of your business and mine.

Nice location, clean inside and lots of options. Both times I’ve been, there hasn’t been much flavor. Some salt goes a long way which was missing. Quite bland. It’s crispy at least but not golden at all. What they’re also missing is a spicy option. That would fix the bland issue but they still need that salt. What was weird both times too is that their to-go bags that sit on the counter were glued right down the middle, making it impossible to add any boxed leftovers. I kept wondering if this was just their thing or they got a shipment of unusable bags. My option ended up being to rip the bag to add the leftover box or empty the box contents onto the bag, risking it spilling in the street. My drink didn’t even fit into it. I gave up since I had to keep asking where things were, like where extra napkins were and other things that were out. What is great is that the manager really pushes to get his employees to get that chicken out. If you’re waiting, he may offer a free drink for your time. He’s polite and on his toes. As far as the food goes, I’ve never eaten at other locations so I can’t compare except to say that eating the chicken strips, I noticed more flavor there than in the bone-in pieces. I tasted salt at least. The girl taking my order was quite confusing. I was told that on one option, I get two pieces of chicken and a «side». So I said I wanted fried okra. She said, no, you get a choice of a biscuit or roll. I asked for a roll. Then she asked me what side I want after saying I want a drink. ??? I said, «I get a second side? Is a biscuit a side like you said?» She said, «No, that comes with it but you can turn it into a meal if you want a side and then it comes with a drink». I said, «Okay, well I want a drink anyway.» She asked me for a side choice again. I said okra. I ordered the 7 chicken strips meal too. She asked what«side» I wanted. I thought she meant I have to choose a biscuit or roll again. I said roll. She said, «Which side?» I said, «You mean a roll or biscuit?» She said no. A side item”. I said okay. upgrade to a family sized mashed potatoes and I need a second drink as well. She asked me for another side. So here we go again. I couldn’t tell what she turned into a meal and which«side» she was asking for. By the end of it all, she counted 3 biscuits and a roll, okra order and two mashed potatoes. She asked if it was all correct. Confused, I said, «oookay, that’s fine. We’ll eat it all I guess». She hit more buttons. When I got my order, there were two biscuits, two small mashed potatoes, a family size fried okra, 7 chicken strips, two pieces of chicken and two drinks. I have no clue what happened. I think it could have all been avoided if she asked«roll or biscuit or you may make it a meal by adding a side and drink». Not sure if I’ll go back here for chicken but maybe the catfish is good. Then again, all you can eat is at the café down 290. The macaroni and cheese is okay, somewhat like cafeteria style and you add your own salt and pepper. The fried okra is quite decent. The mashed potatoes and gravy could use some work — bland like the chicken.

Great chicken place in town probably catfish it some of the best I’ve had in dripping Springs it would be nice if they would improve the biscuits some that’s the only reason that I’m going to rate them a four. They have some really great help in the kitchen I believe his name was Nathan Overby

excellent tenders, service, and prices. Nice to see this open so close to home. Mashed/gravy were tasty, mac and cheese as previously mentioned a little bland and dull. But the tenders are similar to Gills in SM — large and tasty. Cream gravy definitely scratch made. Very good fast food.

I am so excited that a fried chicken place opened in Dripping Springs. I went opening week and they were still trying to get out the kinks. I met the manager and he was super nice and very friendly. They serve chicken tenders, hot wings, regular fried chicken and livers and gizzards. I don’t think I’m ever going to try the livers and gizzards. Not my thing. Their sides consist of fries, fried okra, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, fried pickles and many more. I’ve had the chicken tenders, mac n cheese and cheese sticks. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The tenders are exceptionally good. The mac n cheese was just okay. It really didn’t have a lot of flavor. It looked like it would be super cheesy, but it was kind of bland. The cheese sticks were pretty tasty. I only wish they would give you more than two when ordered as a side with a meal. It really wasn’t much, not compared to the size of the mac n cheese you get as a side. Two cheese sticks is sort of a ripoff compared to that. The sweet tea they make is soooo good. It is really sweet and taste freshly made. The biscuits are decent, nothing special, just regular biscuits. The gravy is very good. It’s country gravy and super thick, which is awesome. It doesn’t taste like it came from a box or powder. I can’t wait to try more items on the menu in the future.
