I’ve been here twice. It’s a little rough around the edges inside but ok. The first time, I had the catfish and I’d say it was good… not great. Everybody in my party agreed — not blown away. Took the kids there last night for burgers. I was looking for something quick and would have probably taken them to Whataburger but I thought I’d grab a beer with my burger. Unfortunately it’s BYOB… oh well. I had the«Sante Fe» burger which was good… not great. All and all — if you’re looking for something quick and relatively inexpensive, the food is about what you’d expect and the service was pretty good.

Not great breakfast, other stars must be for lunch or dinner. Wife, 2 yo, and I were in town for a wedding hoping to get a nice country breakfast to break the monotony of hotel breakfast. I had the scrambler, listed under specialties, and I am certain the vegetable were from a tin or frozen. Some were still cold. Wife had the migas with the same experience. Refried beans were not edible. 2 yo had a pancake with eggs… I tried them too. Pancake was fine but nothing special. Eggs were bland. Coffee was watery.

We recently moved to Dripping Springs and have been trying out some of the local spots and we had a fantastic experience at Oak Creek Café! I barely even noticed the delicious food because the staff was just amazing! My 3 year old daughter is very friendly, and outgoing and she was striking up conversation with the waitresses and they were so nice, then she wanted to meet the cook. I was delighted when one of the kitchen staff came out to say hi and then happily took my daughter to the back and showed her the kitchen and the cook while he was making food. They even gave her a piece of bacon on a plate! She was so excited! They were all very nice and accommodating and we will be regulars at this local spot for sure! Thank you Makayla, Anna, Selene, and Luke for treating us so well. I love this great town!

I’ve visited this place numerous times and never fails the same great service and better yet same great food ! I haven’t had a meal or anything to complain about. Andrew waited on us the last time offered us anything we needed such a down to earth kinda guy. Atmosphere is a warm friendly family restaurant. Can’t wait to go back.

Great catfish! Cooked like my husband’s Grandma Sophie used to. Lightly breaded in mostly cornmeal, fried to perfection. Vegetable choices are great. Fruit pies and cobblers couldn’t be better at home. Worth a stop in the Hill Country.

The ‘all you can eat catfish’ is especially good and crispy– they are filets and a lot for your money, the fried okra is cooked to perfection, nice salad bar, the tea is excellent don’t forget about the blackberry cobbler with ice cream oh it can’t just can’t get any better than this café– we say eat HERE!

Food just ok. Waiter was friendly and made good recommendations. Basket of forks just sitting on the table kind of grosses me out. Who knows who touched them before you stick them in your mouth.

Everything fried I had a hard time finding something to eat on the significantly limited menu. If I don’t have to eat here again I’ll be very happy. People who want to eat healthy foods should avoid this restaurant.

Stopped here unexpectedly as the couple of other places in the area that I am familiar with were closed — probably would not have tried this place if I had read reviews first, but they actually did OK for breakfast — maybe they’ve made improvements based on earlier reviews, but service was very quick, and super friendly. Food was A-OK, par for the price/type of place: we tried the Migas, Huevos Rancheros, Bfast Steak, and kids bfast — no complaints on any and we’re usually a picky group.

This place was good. Prompt service, great catfish, burgers and chicken fried chicken. The salad bar was dark and sad though.

This is one of those places you walked into and know it’s going 1 of two ways; either really good or really bad. It’s a divey little diner that offers a salad bar and the price was very good. It wasn’t very busy for lunch time on a Saturday! At the beginning our service was prompt and we received drink refills. I ordered their mushroom swiss burger and added bacon, jalapeños, cheese and pickles. The extra large glasses were a welcome sight but after our food arrived they weren’t filled again. We had to hunt down someone for a knife and for refills. The server didn’t stop back after we received our food and actually everyone completely disappeared. I noticed the other people in the restaurant looking around for someone too. It’s unfortunate because my burger was actually really good. We paid our check at the hostess stand and headed out.

Great catfish! It became a tradition to eat there every time we are in Austin area. It’s not fancy, you pay for the food not for the environment. Service is good. Very authentic place. I would probably order take out next time. House salad-nothing fancy.

My husband and I drove past here on our way to Fredericksburg and decided to stop for breakfast. As soon as we walked in a young man greeted us and told us to sit anywhere, not too many people there. Once we sat down the young man came and took our drink order. My husband was starving so he ordered a little bit of everything(Pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuit with gray) and I had Migas. The food didn’t take long at all to get out to us and everything we tasted was great. My Migas were awesome with a lot of onion, which I love. My husband loved all of his food. The only thing that was even a little negative was the pancake was a little over cooked, BUT still good. We will be back. We want to try the Catfish dinner!

My family and I were driving around the back country enjoying the sites and we came into Dripping Springs quite hungry. We have never been to this city before which means this was our first experience with the Oak Creek Café. We walked in the door and we were promptly told to sit where we liked. We found a table and within a few minutes a server was along to give us menus and take our drink order. The entire family ordered The Big Texas Burger. We substituted sides for the chips that came with it; one ordered onion rings, one ordered fries and the rest of us ordered tater tots. The food was served rather quickly. To be clear, there were not many people sitting down to eat at the time. The Big Texas Burger was delicious. I highly recommend trying it. My son that ordered the fries said that he «would rather have had the chips.» My son who ordered the onion rings said«they are the best onion rings he has ever had.» My wife tried and thought they were equally delicious. I thought the tater tots were average. The burger meal was a good taste vs cost value. The service was quick and the staff was cordial. We had to ask to have our drinks refilled more than once and the bathroom was quite messy and dirty. If the bathroom would have been clean, our drinks would have stayed full and the tots/fries were better, they would have received 5 stars. I will say, if we are in the area, my family all agreed that we would go back to The Oak Creek Café.

We live in the area and started eating here right after they opened. The owners moved here after running another fried food restaurant in Arkansas, I believe. The family are really nice people and their son is a wonderful guy. When they first opened the food was fresher, the restaurant cleaner and there were always 2 – 3 servers in the dining room. We ate here last night because we like their catfish dinner. We got there around 7 pm and the place was about ¼ full. The waitress told us to pick any table and be seated, however there were only 2 clean tables and about 5 tables with dirty plates stacked up on them. In spite of the fact that there were 2 waitresses working not one of them was in the dining room to clean up the dirty dishes on these tables. It took approximately 15 minutes before our waitress ever came to our table to take our drink orders and food order. A trip to the salad bar revealed a warm salad with brown wilted lettuce and dirty tongs lying in the salad bowl. As we were eating our salad and waiting almost 40 minutes for a catfish dinner to arrive, the dishwasher came out to bus the tables that the waitresses never cleaned. This poor guy was sweaty and filthy and made me shudder to think he was carrying in dirty dishes then probably putting up all the«clean» dishes and silverware. Our food arrived 45 minutes from when we were seated and although my wife asked for extra hush puppies neither my wife or I had any hush puppies, which are supposed to come with the meal. Approximately 15 minutes after our fate arrived the waitress came back with a basket of hush puppies half of which were almost cold and the other half were hot which they just cooked for us Terrible waitresses both of whom spent the entire time back in the kitchen, probably jaw jacking with the other youngsters who run the place at night, and never returned to fill our tea glasses or check on us. Catfish was very good but«baked potato» was actually a steamed potato and was barely warm enough to melt the margarine. Lousy service, filthy dining room and salad bar, and mediocre food. Although we have been customers for about 5 years WEWILLNOTBECOMINGBACKHERE. THEOWNERSNEEDTOCOMEOUTOFTHEIRSHELLANDREADTHESEREVIEWS, VISITTHEIRRESTAURANTATNIGHTANDCLEANTHEIRPLACEUP.

I’d say this play is like a Cracker Barrel minus the good food. There’s antlers on the wall, drawings, coffee cans on each table holding silverware, nice staff and you sit wherever you want. The problem is the food. I can’t say whether half or most of the food is premade, meaning it came frozen in a bag. The burgers don’t have flavor in the patties, the steak fingers came from a distributor or perhaps HEB’s frozen section and the fries as well. Pancakes are lacking any real flavor and the biscuits and gravy are blah. For all you can eat biscuits and gravy, they should be tasty enough to at least eat the first plate. The gravy has no flavor and the biscuits taste frozen. I was disappointed in the special they advertised recently as being a steak finger lunch special. Steak fingers, fries and a drink for I believe $ 6.99. You got reheated food. If I wanted that, I’d go to Dairy Queen down the street where it’s actually flavorful but here, you’re paying for the atmosphere which is relaxing. It’s a disappointment to those coming to the Hill Country on wine tours. If you are, go to Thyme and Dough where it’s overpriced but better tasting. If you want catfish, OC place has it fresh at least. Anything else, hit up T&D. This place most likely won’t change due to the older people coming in daily for lunch and satisfied with reheated food. I’m sure enough money flows. These are the country folks just looking for someone to wait on them while they have ice tea and bland food. By lunch time, this place is packed and they will most likely expand at some time and by then, hopefully the flavor and freshness will get better. If anything, order things that have to be made fresh. Anything breaded besides fish will be coming from a bag of frozen food as well as the burger patties. It wouldn’t take much time to tenderize some beef, bread it and fry it. It’s simple, same as making a patty by hand or even pressing it at the bottom of a circular container already wrapped in plastic wrap, pop the patties out, stack them and making them that way to order for a perfect shape. Salt and pepper goes a long way.

I went here back in April for dinner with my parents. It was okay. Nothing special. The food was good, not great. The service was great. The people working here looked like high school students, but for a Saturday night, they were nice and not rude.
