I’ve passed by this shop hundreds of times, but just could not give up my high-end Austin salon and my big bushy hair. Went in to Sophie’s for a consultation and the owner, Lisa, convinced me to go short. I am petite and 63. Why didn’t I do this earlier? She knew exactly what she wanted to do and I love it. Can’t remember the last time I walked out of a salon and wanted to try on all my favorite clothes and earrings. I feel like a new woman! It’s in also a lovely old house, intimate and comfortable. Great folks and customer service!

I took my wife in to get an updo for a wedding. Everyone was accommodating but her hair turned out pretty bad. She showed the stylist a picture of how she wanted it done and the stylist seemed confident that she could match it. What was intended to be a natural looking style ended up being frizzy, hard and looking nothing like the picture. Since the wedding was happening shortly after the appointment we had to accept how it turned out and head to the venue. UPDATE — The owner of the salon could not have been nicer about the whole situation. She took care of us really did her best to make up for everything.

I haven’t had the pleasure of going yet, however the owner is very kind and hospitable. Per the review stating STRICTNOCHILDPOLICY, apparently they welcome children’s appointments, just ask that they are not left unattended during yours, totally understandable and reasonable seeing most hair appts could easily stretch into hours. Thanks Lisa for the clarification! I am so Sorry for my hasty response!

STRICTNOCHILDPOLICY If you are looking for family — friendly stay away. I drove my mother to her hair appointment and sat in the waiting area quietly with my well– behaved four year old. While waiting, I witnessed a lady come in with two quiet boys, perhaps seven and nine, who sat down and opened their books to read. The staff told her that no kids were allowed, but since it was her first time she could have her appt. It made her uncomfortable enough that she left. When my mother’s hair was done we told the owner that if quiet children were not welcome we would not be back either. She suggested we switch off watching them to come to appts separately. I think most parents have to bring their children on some errands! I often see patients with small children and they are always welcome at my office. To be fair, Jessi did a good job with our hair and it is the owner’s policy. But parents, don’t give money to a place that fosters discrimination. Can you imagine if they had a no senior citizen policy?

A very good salon. I’ve been going to Ely — she’s very good and lovely to talk to. Wish they were open on Sundays!

I love this salon! The owner and the stylists that work there are very dedicated in making the haircut/color work for you, your hair and lifestyle. The lively and warm atmosphere of this salon makes one feel like you are spending the time with your best girlfriends. I always enjoy my time there.
