As much as I love this place for there pasta this is the second time I have found hair in my pasta while I’m half way done. It sucks to know I need to find another place to eat pasta.

We use to frequent this restaurant often, the dishes are average for Italian. This restaurant many years ago use to be hopping, but they waited to way long to update the place which they finally did recently, at least to some extent. They got new carpet and cleaned the walls some, but the area around the windows is still really bad. There always seem to be a dead bug or two in the windowsill and its just not a clean feeling as so many of the booths sit adjacent to a window!

Overall, the food is good and like all other in the franchise. The service, however, was atrocious. We came with a 95 year old mother. We had to wait for over half an hour to be seated. maybe they couldn’t help that part, but the hostess knew this, and I was surprised they didn’t make an effort to get us seated sooner. This was just the beginning of some of the worst service I have ever experienced, and we have traveled all over the world and eaten in all price ranges. We are very, very tolerant, so I’m not a nit picker. The hostess, named Nada or something(never spoken so we could fully understand her).took our names and acted like we were totally inconveniencing her. Finally, after being seated, our waitress came about 10 m, minutes later. I don’t know her name. She was young with short, dark hair. She asked if we wanted a drink. We ordered one glass of wine and asked if we could order our food at the same time, explaining that our mother was 95 years old and didn’t have that much stamina. She bluntly told us we couldn’t order our food at the same time as we ordered our food and said she would be right back. She came back 12 minutes later. We gave our order and waited… and waited… and waited… and waited. after another 15 minutes, I went to the hostess and very politely asked if our waitress could put in our order(she hadn’t yet. I was seated where I could see them put in the orders).I said maybe she had too many tables or was new. The hostess said she wasn’t new and would send her right over… another 15 minutes went by. I went to the hostess again and pleaded for her to check to see if the order went in. she rudely responded as if I was bothering her. Another 15 minutes went by. I went to the bartender and asked for the manager. he pointed to the hostess, who was sitting at the bar laughing with friends. that’s when I got mad. I asked her to get me a waitress who would wait on us. she came to the table and started arguing with me, saying they were behind. I thought she would have helped if that were the case. helped the staff. she started arguing with me, and finally I said: «Quit arguing with the customer and do your job. Get it done!».Finally, another young waitress came with a great demeanor and took the order paperwork, put it in and got us our meal. I was shocked at how we were treated, and we decided we would never go there again.

Sorry I was so hungry I didn’t get a photo. I started with their $ 4.00 Margaretta with sugar on the rim. Perfect. For my salad I had the Caesar salad. For my main course; chicken Parmesan. Today I will eat the left over linguine with tangy Marianna sauce. I thought the service was great as well. Thank you for a great meal. XOXO

Well, I have to say this is a surprise. Normally California — especially the Bay Area — offers up nothing but great eats. Not this time. The food was a bit overpriced, expected in California. But for the quality, I felt a bit ripped off. The salad I literally looked up online and came if for especially(some steak salad thing with field greens) actually didn’t come with field greens, it came on iceberg. In their defense, they did attempt to correct the issue but who serves iceberg in California? Even after bringing me a pile of spinach to make up for their lack of field greens, the salad was a disappointment. The service was fair, no one seemed happy to be there. My husband ordered chicken Alfredo and that tasted like bottled Alfredo sauce. We ordered calamari too and that was alright. Frozen rings dropped in a fryer, it was ok. In any other part of the country this would be a three star joint. But when the bar is as high as it is in this part of the state and country, I am giving them 2 stars and that’s generous.

My business colleagues and I wanted Italian, this got mixed Unilocal reviews, but decided to try it. They were undergoing renovations on the outside parking area, so was hard to find and maneuver into the parking lot. I arrived early so hung out at their bar with the locals– Happy hour $ 3 Sierra Nevada on tap, nice bar tenders, talky locals –score!!! Colleagues arrive and we get seated, décor is a mix of comfy Denny’s-Esc booths and an Italian garage sale, more family dining style than intimate date night ambiance shall we say. We came for dinner and Italian food, so what the heck. We had salads and calamari to start, ok nothing special, calamari was crispy/semolina breading I believe, marinara sauce, house salad ok. I had the veggie manicotti with the3 sauces, pesto — was creamy, ok would have been better if it was your std olive oil garlic Parmesan basil pesto, white Alfredo sauce– this had to have come from a processed pouch, cuz this was not homemade and not good, and a red sauce, which was the best, chunky tomato rich flavor. Veggies were fresh with zucchini squash spinach, pasta was soft and tender. Dish was ok, would not order again. Colleague ordered the mussel and clam linguini, had a taste, good wine sauce, seafood was tasty, pasta tasted out of a box. Other colleague got a pizza, now that looked GOOD! Crust was crunchy, dense and good. Toppings were meaty saucy and cheesy, probably best dish in the restaurant. Their menu is so long and diverse, everything from pastas, meat, seafood, poultry, combination dishes, osso Buco, don’t know how a kitchen can focus on everything, perhaps that’s why the dishes are ok and no spectacular. Wait staff are polite friendly and helpful. This is an institution in Dublin, but perhaps the menu needs a weeding and facelift. 2 – 3 stars on the food, if you come here, get the pizzas, stay for happy hour, 3 – 4 stars in the service and staff. 2 stars on the noisy open Chuck-E-Cheese environment and décor

If this is Italian, then the chefs had better go back to the old country for an immersion course in flavor. We had the chicken marsala, the sausage lasagna, and some other easily forgettable entrees that left us wanting for real, authentic Italian food. This was as Italian as a Betty Crocker cookbook recipe from the 1950’s, and quite frankly, no where near as flavorful as Olive Garden restaurants, God help us all! And the prices weren’t cheap for the quality of the meals. The calamari appetizer was very good as was the bruschetta, but then it was all downhill from there. The wine selection was slightly south of adequate. We won’t go back!

We showed up with a party of 8 on a Saturday night that turned into a party of 11. The hostess was absolutely delightful. The wait was a long time but she checked in with us regularly and made the wait bearable. We had been working all day and we’re super hungry. The waiter Anthony did a great job making sure we had drinks and plenty of bread. The food was outstanding. No complaints from anyone and we all took home a bix. The portions are huge. I had the Gnocchi Barese. Delicious spicy sausage. So good I ate the leftovers for breakfast. My husband loved the spaghetti with meatballs. The meatball had delicious flavor. Would definitely go here again.

I wasn’t convinced I was going to like Frankie, Johnny, and Luigi Too when my father-in-law suggested we go to dinner here tonight, but I was very pleasantly surprised! What struck me first was the old school atmosphere. I feel like most restaurants are either chains with strict and hideous décor guidelines or painfully hip spots that take the minimalist feel a bit too far. FJ&L has a real old school appeal– you FEEL like you’re in a real red sauce place. It’s not the hippest looking restaurant, but it feels warm and you can tell it has history. I really like that. The menu has about a billion and one options on it– a death wish for someone like me who has a hard time choosing when EVERYTHING looks good, but I eventually settled on cacciatore because I can’t resist the combo of chicken and sausage in red sauce. Man, was it good! I’m not usually an Italian fan but the food was good, piping hot, and enough for more than one satisfying meal. I took ¾ of my meal home with me. The service was fine; our waitress was attentive and kind and made us chuckle a couple times. She filled water and cleared plates– I had no issue with the service! When I agreed to come here tonight I didn’t think I was in for anything very special, but I was pleasantly surprised and would love to come back to try other parts of the menu :)

This place would have received another star had it not been for the lousy service. I suppose there were issues with the computer system or maybe because it was a holiday and they were under staff, none the less, it was not a great experience. Let me start on the positives of this place… The Pros: +Seated immediately, had we needed to wait, I think I would be officially over this place, but luckily had a seat ready for us. +Hot bread, just had dinner at Amici’s and their bread is lousy, it was cold and hard and not tasty for an overpriced pizzeria. at least this place had soft, hot bread and great garlic spread which was a good thing as I love bread, especially if we’re at an Italian restaurant… c’mon. +Prices were fair, not over priced for pasta or pizza. +Food was very tasty, the pasta was delicious and the pizza was really good, very satisfied with the food and the portions. The Cons: –Service was slow… inattentive…had to repeatedly ask our waiter for refills, the remaining order, the to-go boxes, the check, the receipt… c’mon. It was NOT that busy. –Location…hard to find, the other person that joined me could not find this place, it’s in an odd spot and the lack of signage is weird, where’s the sign? No one would even know this place is here if driving by… get’s lost in a residential area and gas station. All in all, would love to come back because the food was good but don’t think that will happen because of the lousy service… the search for a good italian place continues!

If I could give this place a ZERO I would. Let’s start with the service. I went there with a party of 10, no one showed up with water. Finally a so called waitress shows up after waiting 12 minutes with a menu and an attitude. No apologies for her tardiness. I ordered a Birra Moretti but tasted more like seltzer. Asked the tardy waitress the problem. She took it away and never returned with a replacement until I reminded her 18 min later. We hadn’t even placed our order also! Disgusted, I told the waitress and the manager that if their service was bad, then their food is just as bad. Managers response– he shrugs his shoulders. Go here if you have some time to kill waiting around for service. No restaurant is worth waiting for if you have employees like this.

Classics Italian restaurant with delicious food. They serve large portions which I find awesome because that means I have lunch the next day. There pizza dough and crust are fluffy and crispy and delicious. They give free bread and a garlic butter that is bomb and I always ask for some to take home. The seafood pizza is very yummy, not too salty with the right amount of ingredients. I love their pasta as well, especially the bolognese and alfredo. The service is decent, it can sometimes take awhile to get the attention of your server, but that is also dependent on the time you go and the section you are seated in. They do not have consistent good service. There dessert menu is so good, the tiramisu is superb.

Met some friends here for an early dinner. Had not been here in over years and realized why I haven’t. Service was decent, restaurant was overall clean. As for meal, that is where I was heavily disappointed. Ordered an Italian soda with some half and half. Make sure you tell your server that you don’t want the cream chunky(bartender did not make it right, not that the cream was spoiled). Ordered the creamy chicken lemon soup was way to salty, and lastly the Ham and cheese calzone was okay, but ham was overly salty. Overall, the dining experience wasn’t that great and I probably will not be going back. Better Italian restaurants to visit in the Pleasanton area.

This review is strictly for the server A.J. Unfortunately this place has gone through its share of employees. And it’s obvious because they’re just awful. Tonight we came in and weren’t greeted and a young girl finally came up and took two menus and just started walking. We weren’t sure if we should follow her. She turned around and said«follow me.» But it was just so weird she didn’t say hi or anything. Anyway back to AJ. Couldn’t have asked for a worse server. I unfortunately have had him as a waiter a few times but tonight was the all time worse and i feel management should know. The entire time we were there he continued to disappear to the bathroom. Which in turn made my meal cold. We never got waters refilled. My friend wanted to order more drinks. Overall the experience was awful. AJ is not meant to be in the restaurant business. But I know they’re struggling for help. We left him $ 0 tip and hope he knows that if he wants to make money he needs to do his job!

I have been to this location 3 times. Time 1, slow service, time 2 great server, time 3 awful service from waitress to manager. This is a favorite restaurant for my parents, and they say the service is hit and miss. Last night Kelly was our server, but it started negatively before Kelly got to us. We arrived, party of 4 plus hichair. They took 10 min to set up our table and sat 2 parties in front of us. Got seated, ran out of crayons and kid cups, bummer. Still high hopes. We ordered, bread came out very slow, 3⁄5 waters were delivered(so slow), milk that I ordered never came(until mid meal). I could go on, but end result is our server was not interested in serving us to an acceptable standard. The food was good, but slow service. I am sure we will go back and I hope to amend this review.

First off I don’t like pizza and it doesn’t like me. However, strangely enough we had this pizza on the same day as our wedding after all the stress was over. At that point I was hooked. They make their own crust, use very little sauce and use lots of mozzarella cheese. It is a very simple pizza but with lots of flavor. They also have a really good house salad and their Italian dressing is really good and tart. They serve warm bread rolls with an herb butter too. They also have excellent lemonade. We had dinner there tonight and it was wonderful and did not leaving me wanting for more. We went home with a pizza box for tomorrow. There prices are very reasonable.

I ordered a take out — small pepperoni and bread sticks. By the time I got home and began eating the cheese off the bread sticks just simply slid off and wasn’t cooked. There wasn’t even any browning of the cheese, which would indicate it was cooked until it melted. It seemed that the bread was microwaved so the cheese melted enough to just cover the bread. The bread was hard and no garlic flavor at all. The pizza was okay. Overall experience is disappointment. It was my first time trying it but I wont go back again. Bread sticks are simple, how can it go wrong?

So as an update we called our credit card company today and they said that if the restaurant would fax them a copy of the voided receipt they would reimburse our credit card today. We called the restaurant today abs spoke with the manager and she said there is no record of the void in her system and she could not help us but she reiterated the fact that we forgot to mention they paid for our bill! Again we offered to pay our bill and she refused to let us pay! No one asked for that but once again the manager is missing the point! They are clearly not focused on customer service but are focused on making sure there point in clear they followed process and did what she could do!!! I will NEVER come back!!! I am on phone with their corporate office hopefully they can help

I want to like this place but their dishes have been bland. If you go, stick to the spaghetti, lasagne or pizza. Had dinner with a group of 4 the other night and all the food was bland. No seasoning. It didn’t scream Italian. Crab cakes were not crisp, full of mayonnaise. Salmon was dry, risotto was mush, veal parmigiana sandwich was not edible. The caesar salad tasted like watered lettuce and romaine with a few tiny croutons and the wedge was the same but just with blue cheese and 2 pieces of bacon. A real Caesar should be fully coated with creamy dressing, lots of freshly shaved Parmesan, cracked pepper, large croutons, and an anchovy! All of this food took a million years to come out too. I mean, the place wasn’t even packed. At least put some love into it. My sandwich came out so soggy. Was it really veal? I could not identify that meat. I wish they would serve it open faced– 1 side with a crisp parmigiana the other with the sauce and cheese. Fries were definitely the frozen kind. Had a frozen then flash fried taste. I had to send it away. I didn’t even order anything else. What was the point? The bread and the calamari was good. Sometimes even that is hit or miss. Our servers were very friendly and prompt with filling up drinks. FJL, you’re a neighborhood joint and I want to love you but you make it so difficult!

I wouldn’t normally choose FJL because their offering is so broad I worry that nothing will be truly special. However, after calling every 4 star Italian place in a 15 mile radius FJL was the ONLY place that had manicotti on the menu. And my friend was turning thirty and wanted manicotti. So we went. She was very pleased to see they used the crêpe vs tube pasta and gave her the sauce she preferred. Clearly full fat ricotta so all was good! I had a garlic and tomato pesto pizza. The garlic was generous and fresh not to biting. The pesto good but a little more than I prefer. The crust was well baked. No real complaints. Our server, mike, was polite and funny. And asked my friend if she wouldn’t mind them singing happy birthday to her. That was nice! The ambiance is so so. Nothing very nice. Family place not so much a date.
