Steak ‘n Shake

You only get one star right from the start for totally ignoring us for the first 10 minutes while we were sitting at the table. Numerous tables were dirty and piled with dirty dishes. The tables were not bussed during our entire visit. Lots of employees running around but not a one really doing anything. Food was good as usual but the staff leaves lots to be desired.

We have been visiting this restaurant for at least 5 years now. With the exception of the one time my husband tried the chili… we’ve never had a bad experience at this Steak n’ Shake. Maybe it’s because we really only come in after 11pm, but Theo, Ashley and Joshua always get us taken care of quickly. We’ve never had food come out wrong, and they are speedy with the refills. Sadly, we have «cheated» on this SnS with others… but always end up back here because the others just don’t compare to the great service we get at this place!

Slowest service in the world… been here for over an hour and still haven’t received our waters! I hope the food is still worth it to come here. Will try a different location the next time we’re craving Steak n Shake. Management team, you really need to do something here…

Food was cold and fries were as hard as rocks. Waitress only came back to give us the check. Food orders were mixed up and we were told to rearrange them ourselves. We even had to wait 15 minutes to pay the check. Parking lot was full of dirty diapers and milkshake cups.

Do yourself a favor and NEVER step foot in Steak n a shake on Sawmill! I got the worst food poisoning in my life there last year and I haven’t been back until today because my husband had a gift card and we wanted milkshakes. First of all the waitresses was crazy and there was hair in my husband and daughter’s food, My daughter’s brownie Sundae was hard as a rock, my shake was flavorless and it was a chocolate Nutella shake according to the menu but came out like vanilla with 1 tiny chunk of Nutella. The waitress got a big attitude when I asked her about the shake. She did offer to add Nutella to it but I told her don’t bother and she got nasty and said «well I tried to help you, not my fault if you don’t want help» I wasn’t even worried about it which is why I didn’t want it remade but that made me mad. Plus the place was FILTHY! I was talking to My daughter trying to see if her sundae was ok to see if my younger daughter wanted one and when she said it wasn’t good the waitress was behind me and I didn’t even know and she freaked out and said «you just need a manager since everything seems to be soooo wrong» I told her that her nasty attitude was the problem! Manager took the food off but I absolutely hate feeling like people think you’re just trying to get free food when it wasn’t the case! Never going there again!

Sorry but I have to say but today I m so disappointed almost everyday u buy a steak burger this morning was bad drive thru person need to learn how smile serve a cook food coz my food was smelling means I don’t know but I m so pissed

I’ve stopped in here before when I was out ‘n about. Usually used their drive-​thru for a quick shake or bite to eat. This time, I actually dined in. Restaurant was clean and very busy. Looks like the place is frequented by teens, young families and youth soccer teams out celebrating with their families. The staff were quite attentive and patient with my making a selection. I went for the garlic double steakburger and fries for $ 3.99 and a fountain drink. The burger was tasty. I am glad that I did get the «double» because their burgers are not very big. I enjoyed the straw fries which are not heavily salted like some fast food place. Definitely a fun place and will be back again.

This dining establishment has changed my world view and made me realize that God is real and in the form of a Frisco melt.
And the employees! No, I mean the angels of God! They have grown near and dear to my heart.
The arch angel has been bestowed with the name G. He skills at waiting our table proved to be impeccable. GIVE THIS GOOD MAN A RAISE!
All in all, this fine establishment not only is close to my home, it is close to my heart.

For what it is — a semi fast good place they do a good job with low prices. My husband is obsessed and after a night out its a royal with cheese only… Everyone is polite and our orders are correct and the fries are hot. Plus it’s cheap. Don’t forget to tip the wait staff! It’s a tough job dealing with drunks and teenagers!

Have never had a bad steak and shake experience except for the wait during late night… until today.
I was excited as this was the fastest I’d ever received my order. I had a taste for this and drove a long way for it. Where do I begin?
Let’s talk about the positively worst steak and shake I have ever had. They wrapped my Frisco melt in paper, so the sauce was all over the paper, but hardly any on the sandwich.
The fries were horribly stale. And the sandwich wasn’t even cut. I would rather wait for a sandwich at 2am at the Pickerington location than ever eat here again.

Steak ‘n Shake still holds up well when compared with all the supposedly «upscale» burger joints which are the current rage, and when you throw in the incredible value, they are still a winner. Always hot and fresh food served with a smile. Where else can you get such good service *and* freshly grilled burgers with hot crispy fries for $ 3.99? Skip McDonald’s, Burger King and other fast food joints and head to Steak ‘n Shake for a superior meal at a comparable price. No, it’s not The Refectory, but it’s good, cheap and consistent, and sometimes that’s all you need for a quick meal. This particular store is clean and well managed, and the wait staff is very friendly and polite. Those are the reasons we keep going back.

I am all about a milkshake to celebrate a simple, yet worthy occasion. Anything from promotions, to great news, to new accomplishments, I skip the bar and go straight for a milkshake. Steak n Shake is an easy stop and kid friendly, so periodically we stop in for a treat.
I am one to see the better side of things, and working in restaurants my entire career, I don’t expect much from chains like this, but GEEZE the service just never gets better.
Working as a waitress for many years I can tell when my table is being avoided because my check is less than $ 20. however being a waitress for all those years, I also leave great tips if you take good care of us. Forget the percentages when your bill is less than $ 20, never leave less than $ 5 if your server does an OK job. (words to the wise) However from management to service staff, over and over again I get an unexcited, slow, and borderline rude experience.
Long story short, I cant say I would recommend this location, but then again, maybe my expectations are too high. Needless to say, customer service is important in this industry, and it is not kind to ignore the mom who just wants an occasional greasy, sugary, fast food celebration. Cheers!

Grossed out. Waited 15 minutes in the drive thru which was enough to piss me off when there were only two cars in front of me. Watched a lady from the drive thru window in the kitchen stuff trash down in the can with her hands and go directly back to making food. My grilled cheese had some nasty, not bacon, brown stuff all over it, soggy bread. Whats with the creepy ORANGE cheese, doesnt look normal at all. Cold fries. Didnt even eat it. Won’t be back. I’m good on that one!!!

Since I moved here I was told I needed to try 2 things: Graeters and Steak N Shake. At least Graeter was fantastic cuz this place sucks. I was also told about Donatos, which I also dont have a taste for. I’m guessing Steam N Shake is like Donatos. I know the people of COlumbus have a love/​hate relationship with both places; either you love it or you hate it. Thats fair then. for me anyway. I hate it. Simply put… it’s not yucky but it doesnt taste very good.
First things first… you NEVER squish a hamburger patty until its thinner then a penny! Everyone knows that gets rid of all the jucies in meat! Shame! I couldnt taste the meat at all on that «burger»
I got the cheddar one. the one that has all that cheese. The cheese was yummy. The lettuce wasnt cleaned, the burger was… flattened…and dispite getting a double it was still thinner then a normal single patty elsewhere. Not to mention is came in styrofoam (something I hate on principle) but the container was too large for the burger and it was everywhere when I opened it. I think its worth noting that I ate my meal in the parking lot … I wasnt the reason the food was together. I put my burger back together easy enough, but the taste was more… well «where’s the beef?!» All I got was dirty lettuce & cheese. The shoestring fries… I could live without.

Good times with my NPT mates. Yuckin it up at a comfortable sit down burger joint with an interesting choice of steakburger/​sandwich/​hot dog/​salad options and shakes. Oh the butter pecan shake, how i love/​hate you.
Don’t forget about the 2pm-​4pm happy hour.

Ok so you might ask why 5 stars on a steak and shake??? Well ill tell you, the staff is fun, friendly and fast. We went black Friday for a midnight snack, we waited about 45 min to be sat, and that’s exactly the amount of time we were quoted. The staff was fast and efficient at greeting, seating, serving and cleaning up. They were so busy yet they were all smiling and joking around with customers.
I went back tonight with a friend and we had Joshua, a very tall strong built guy with a great smile. I noticed his personality on black Friday and was happy to have him as our server. He was poliet and professional yet comforting.
I find it odd that our two burgers came to the table before our shakes, but they made a good dessert to a quick inexpensive meal.

Frisco melt and cottage cheese. This place isn’t exactly a high ballin’ locale — it’s just a burger joint that sells some awesome shakes.

Cheap and easy as a whore.
