Walked in to check out the store on a recommendation from a friend and ended up spending close to an hour talking to the owner Dan Sr. Great higher end (REI type) store. Can’t wait to bring the wife by in the next few days to have her check it out also. Huge selection of sandals, sunglasses, board shorts, and general outdoor wear. Make sure you stop by on our next trip to Duck!

I’m not sure I can say enough great things about this place without sounding like a paid shill, but here goes…
This is one of my favorite shops in OBX — I liked the other review that called in a «mini REI» — pretty spot on — they have a great selection of activewear, great people working the floors, and if you’re looking for something in a different size or color, just ask — they might not be able to get it for you, but they’ll at least give it a shot. Everyone on the floor knows about what they are selling, from shorts to sunglasses.
I cannot walk into this place without finding something I fall in love with. They do not go for trendy cheap stuff — everything is high quality and looks great — their buyers have a great eye for items you can wear season after season. Also — it’s not just a place with summer items. I was lucky enough to be down here off-​season one year and picked up the best pair of gloves I’ve ever owned.
Take the time to stop in, you won’t be sorry.

Place was a really good find when visiting the obx. It is a must go for cool vacation gear. Not a tacky fly by night joint. They have quality stuff, in a nice location overlooking the sound. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and the owner was quick to give inside knowledge whats good to do while on the outerbanks. Try a kayak tour, it will be a highlight of your vacation.

This place is really cool! The shop is packed with surf and beachwear of high quality that should appeal to anyone. If you are looking for a pair of sandals, headwear, board shorts, beach adventure gear, a sweet pair of Vibram FiveFingers or a nice dive watch (I purchased 2), the friendly and more than capable staff can help you find what you are in search of.

What a great find in the OBX. Weekend with girlfriends, and while out shopping and playing in Duck, we lost track of each other. One gal found North Beach Outfitters, found the beach hat, casual dress and sandals she had wanted, and when we joined up again, she was raving about the store and the sales associates so much that we all wanted to stop in. Several more purchases later (they have a fabulous selection of active beach wear, dresses and accessories), we left with stylish additions to our vacation wardrobe — high quality at a fair price, particularly for a resort area. Owner Dan Lane and his sales associate made us feel welcome, and knowing that they are active in the community and that they support the military added to our positive experience. You can be sure we will be repeat customers.
