Highlands At Sugarloaf

This place is not as safe as it looks being gated and all. Residence still get robbed. The staff in the office are rude and acting like the residence are invading their space if you have to use the conference room or the lobby area for whatever reasons.

Let me start of by saying this place was shown to us as a easy and friendly place by «amber» a front desk apartment rep.
We have been here for 2 months and its basically once your in they really don’t care. Before i get into the pros and cons i will state that the only nice and HELPFUL people I’ve met are «Shaunda» assistant manager and «maria» housekeeper. Oh and the maintenance guy, don’t know his name he is a white guy driving a mini golf cart in the community is a nice guy.
Pros:
–Restaurants near by.
–Units are new with upscale features.
–Free bagels & Starbucks coffee in the front while supplies last.
Cons:
–Free laundry? so the time to drop off laundry was from 9am-​11am and they changed it to 9am-​10am without any kind of notice left and the front desk or anything given out to the residents. When you ask them they tell you well going forward blah blah blah as if it was your fault to begin with, FBS. Customer service sucks and they need to learn how to speak to their customers.
–Garages. If your looking to rent on make sure you want it for at least 3 months because we were promised when we moved in that we could have a garage for only 1 month but apparently not they either deliberately lied to us or they just didn’t know what the F they were talking about. Any ways the «manager» doesn’t give a crap as it was their fault to begin with and they can’t do an exception with something they screwed up. Again, they are not helpful nor do they seem to care about you.
–Apparently if you send them a message telling them to fix a light bulb or anything really and you tell them SPECIFICALLY to call you before they come in they will come in anyways then call you. Front office told me that they could come in anytime that is reasonable to them and that if i send them a work order EVEN IF I SAY DONT COME IN UNTIL YOU CALL ME they will still come in and they have the right to do so if something needs to be fixed. Its called common courtesy to READ the comments and do as the customer needs not do whatever you please and then come up with BullShit excuses to say oh whoop i didn’t see that part maybe i should have called.
–The air system is somehow connected and smell like your neighbors kitchen if you live in the top floors, The mechanic that does this is a nice guy so its not his fault. If your neighbor is cooking guess what? you are not having the smell for dinner. Came in to our unit one night and it smelled like vomit the smell was coming out of the vents we have to open all the doors in the middle of 40 degrees and let it air out.
Overall the Community is a nice place but the front desk people need to change their attitude or find another job as the are not helpful or customer oriented at all. If your looking to move here you will like it as long as you NEVER have to deal with the front desk people.

Good:
I will skip all the typical balabalabala. Because you know for instance for a good place, friendly staff are required.
Extra stuff other places may not have
1. weekly valet laundry service
free but only once a week
2. quite new construction. Opened in fall 2014.
You very likely can move into a new apartment
3. Starbucks coffee at break room
4. printing at break room
5. location is perfect
If you are Asian, assi is 3 minutes driving away
if you are not, Kroger is 2 minutes driving away
You are in the middle point of Costco Duluth and Costco Buford near Mall of Georgia. Both 10 minutes away
Highway access is 1 minute away
6. weekdays junk foods and some fruits are available in break room for breakfast.
I checked it out and decide to pass. basically some bars, banana, apple and yogurts.
The bad:
1. When you need to do laundry yourself, avoid Mon, Wed, Fri because these are the days the lady do the valet laundry. All washer and dryers are likely occupied.
This brings inconvenience because there are only 4 pairs of washer and dryers.
If you don’t want to wait a terribly long time for a dryer like it happened once to me, try Tuesday or Thursday or Sat Morning before 12 p.m.
3. visitor parking space is very limited and badly designed.
not good when you are checking mails and doing laundry.
4. Wall paint feels too coarse to me
very minor, I don’t care too much.

I work with the people doing the construction on this complex and the appartments arw beautiful. There gated abd right next to the highway. All I have to say is that there a bit pricey
