I was stranded in Duluth on business for 7 of the longest days of my life. My hotel didn’t have a kitchen so I was at the mercy of local eateries. Not only was the food lousy but I had to wait on line because of tourists. Out of desperation, I expanded my search and stumbled on New London, highly recommended. The #1 breakfast was most satisfying and the owner and staff was engaging and very professional. I wish I had discovered them before I got plastered with tourist food.

Stopped here for lunch today because the great experience we have had at breakfast. Still great food but poor service. The young men working were too busy chatting with each other or on their phone to provide good service.

LOVE the waffles here. I’m not a huge breakfast fan but I came here one morning with some friends after a night out. I was totally impressed. Will be returning. And it looks like they are even open during dinner time! score!

My wife and I like to try different, local eating establishments, and compare them, so as this morning we tried out this little place on east superior street. My rating.- Coffee is top notch for restaurants. My wife’s tea, not very hot when served, sent back, came back hot. Food taste and quality was pretty standard fare. My wife had what they call Red Fannel Hash, which come on a open face bun, hash, with egg on top. She ordered over easy on eggs and they cooked thru and hard. I had their # 2, which is(2) eggs,(2) bacon strips, hash browns and toast, with a jam or jelly mix, rhubarb and raspberry. The jam is terrific, hash browns was standard but very good and plenty. Overall mine was pretty standard fare, but still good. The service was great, above most restaurants. At the same time, we were sitting by(2) couples with(3) preschool ages, so it is a very noisy place. What the heck, it’s small, no place for the noise to go. I really don’t know how it ever got a 4−½ star rating.(3) star is my call. We will go back, but in the week time, when they won’t be so busy and the voice level should be lower.

First time for lunch, seems like typical small town café; nice, cozy quiet, friendly staff. Lunch was fresh and tasty! I would definitely eat here again.

Fantastic fritter French toast and a killer everything omelet started our day today. Delicious multigrain toast with fresh strawberry preserves. The New London potatoes were exceptional. Friendly service, too!

I LOVE this little gem of a café. We’ve ate there twice and both times it was very good. The waitress was so nice and helpful too. I will definitely make this a regular spot.

I love the food here!!! Yummy, tasty The service was quick though they were busy. A very good vibe & friendly servers I have given 1 less star than 5 as the décor could get some re-desgin.

Amazing food and reasonably priced. I love going for breakfast and getting coffee to go when I leave. Service has always been friendly. The only downside is sitting near the door in winter because it gets so drafty and cold.

Traveling north to Canada it was recommended that we stop here for lunch. I’m so glad we did. Just a small place off the beaten path but, great food. We both ordered the Walleye basket with slaw and fries. Lightly breaded fish, it was fantastic. Fresh brewed coffee is delicious. The service was outstanding. Wish we lived close by so we could eat here often.

Stopped here on a recommendation from friends who had been here once before. Great breakfast! Had the French toast which was great. Others in our party had the blueberry pancakes(very good — lots of berries) and another had a great cheese omelette. Good service, really a gem!

I was in the eastern part of Duluth and needed coffee, bad. I didn’t want to hit up a gas station and Starbucks was 15 minutes away. I drove by New London and saw a few people inside, I pulled a U’ey and headed in. It’s a smaller place, seating for about 30 and a bar-like area. I ordered a house coffee and an orange cranberry scone. Coffee was good and scone was amazing! They also serve hot breakfast, but I was in a crunch for time. I got a quick refill of coffee before I left too! The service was fast and friendly. Great place for a quick cup!

I came in based on the raving reviews of the french toast and the cinnamon rolls. Sure, the service is friendly and the coffee keeps coming and coming, but I was not blown away by the food that I had. I tried the New London Scramble, which granted was traditional and tasty, but unlike the others have mentioned, the french toast was lack luster and tasted similar to other diner fare. The scramble was portioned well and was served with a slice of buttered toast. Even more talked about than the french toast are the cinnamon rolls. I honestly didn’t see what the big deal was with the rolls. They are large with some nice and creamy frosting on top, but without the frosting the rolls are a little on the dry side and, to be frank, a little bland. Coffee is very good here, even the house brew. They have a chalkboard with the daily coffee roasts so if they have the cinnamon sugar brew on your visit be sure to try a cup or two; very robust for a flavored roast. Lots of seating available, including a dining area to the left that I presume opens up when it gets more busy, and they also have seating available at a small counter. When you come in the restaurant you walk up to the counter and can either ask for a table or place your take-out order. After your meal you bring your ticket up and pay at the register at the counter. Overall the service was friendly and the food was decent, but I wouldn’t rave about the bakery case nor the french toast. Convenient on-street parking(not as bad as some mention), so this is a good place to eat if you live in the area.

This place is fantastic! My boyfriend and I go here at least once a month for breakfast. The service is usually really good and they keep your coffee cup full. They will even give you coffee to go(for free) if you ask. It is really nice. The parking isn’t as bad as some others have said, it is street parking, and the most I’ve ever had to walk is half a block and it is way better than downtown parking. The café is fairly small, and sometime you have to wait to get seated, but never more than 10 minutes. But the wait is worth it, and it is a shorter wait than Uncle Lois or the Duluth Grill. The food is fantastic. I’m in love with their french toast, it is made with the best apple bread, so if is a notch above regular french toast. I also think that the new London potatoes are amazing. I really wish I could get my breakfast potatoes to turn out that perfect. My boyfriend enjoys all of their scramblers and omelets, particularly the Mexican Scramble. They also have a pretty good tea list, and it is made with actual HOT water, as most places only use luke warm water. I can’t say much about the non breakfast menu, as we’ve only ate there out of breakfast. brunch time once. If I recall it was pretty good, but not quiet as good as their breakfast! It’s been a while since we ate their for lunch, and I don’t recall what we had.
