I came here when The Stone Grill first opened.(this was when they only had pork on their ACYE menu). We tried the thick five layer, thin five layer, and a few marinated ones(one was coffee marinade). All of the meats were pretty good. The grill they use cooks the meat very slowly– so eventually they did change us to the metal one that did cook it faster. I also liked that they had different side items to eat with it: steamed egg, corn cheese, soybean soup, they had some fried fish pancakes and tofu, and other usual banchan(like kimchi, bean sprouts). The service was pretty good though– all friendly, all seemed to be pretty skilled servers.

It pains me to give a 1 star because I was really wanting to like this place. We go to Korean BBQ all the time and wanted to try this one out. First off they were very pushy with their menu when we ordered AYCE. We almost had to fight them to order the meat we wanted. Then they brought us out awful brisket. Literally awful. I guess they could tell it was bad because they later brought out totally different looking brisket and said something of the effect … The first batch was bad. This was after we refused their trying to push pork on us. Guess they realized when we wouldn’t budge that they had to bring the good stuff out. Well then why did they bring it out at all if they knew it was bad? We felt they kept trying to make us order pork and we aren’t big pork eaters. Just felt awkward. Servers seemed not to get along either. Something just isn’t right with this place.

Nice layout and good vibe. Food is typical Korean bbq, pricey but good for groups. Not somewhere I would frequent, the flavor a were just not there

The Stone Grill is a new Korean BBQ in Duluth that’s been open for less than a year. It’s located in the same shopping center as Super H-mart on Pleasant Hill Road. This place offers a la carte entrees, combo for various amount of people, and unlimited Korean BBQ. The unlimited option is $ 25.99/person. Almost all of the combos and unlimited come with the same type of meat and side dishes. I’ve been here 3 times within the last 2 months and I always leave this place very satisfied. My favorites are the Premium Pork Belly with Chef’s Special Sauce, Premium Beef Cube, and Premium Briskets. Unlike Iron Age and Star Daepo, the briskets here are not fatty at all, which I really like. I also really like their Salted Steam Eggs. I’d have to say, it’s the best I’ve ever had compare to other BBQ places, the saltiness is just right. The wait is never too long every time I come. Service is always awesome and very attentive even when they are super busy.

I like The Stone Grill. This place has a nice atmosphere, one of the best among Korean BBQ restaurants in metro Atlanta, with tasty food and terrific service. I’d put this place in the same tier as competitors like Oh! My Samgyupsal and Myung Ga Won. Admittedly, it doesn’t top my favorite Korean BBQ places(678, Breakers), but it’s still very good. I’d choose it over a «budget» Korean BBQ restaurant, such as Star Daepo, if you’re seeking a nicer ambiance and I’d choose it over popular spots such as Iron Age or Honey Pig just because it’s less crowded and you get better service. The restaurant opened September 25, 2015 in Park Village, the big shopping plaza with Super H Mart. If facing H Mart, The Stone Grill will be to your left. The business presumably got its name from the stone heating elements used inside the restaurant’s grills. The interior features stone walls and granite counters and tabletops. Grills are installed into each table and each table is outfitted with its own ventilation hood. The restaurant isn’t huge, but it’s spacious enough. I guesstimate the dining room can seat around 70 – 80 customers, either at small round tables that accommodate up to 4 – 5 persons each or at long tables for bigger groups against a single wall banquette. If it’s busy, smaller groups may have to share one of the long tables. Like most Korean BBQ places, you’ll leave The Stone Grill smelling like cooked meat. The smell that lingers on your clothes isn’t as bad as other places, but it’s still there. To date, the only place I’m aware of where you do not leave smelling is Breakers. At dinner, pork items include different kinds of pork belly(thick five layer, thin five layer, marinated five layer, a «ninja» cut, and a salted thick cut), pork neck, spicy pork, pork cheek, and marinated pork rib. Beef items include brisket, bulgogi, wine steak, jumulleok(short steak marinated with sesame oil), and seasoned cubed beef. Chicken includes chicken bulgogi and chicken teriyaki. An order of one of these meats costs $ 16.99 to $ 24.99. Combination dinner sets(one of which hilariously is called the«One Cow Set»), designed for anywhere from 2 to 5 people, run from $ 69.99 to $ 149.99. Along with a variety of meats, these sets include side dishes. At both lunch and dinner, they offer a cheese fondue for $ 32.99. Hibachi options($ 28.99-$ 32.99) include squid, pork belly, and baby octopus. There’s a la carte entrée versions of mul naengmyeon(Korean cold noodles) for $ 9.99. At lunch only, the noodle menu is expanded, and lighter meat dishes, bibimbap(Korean mixed rice), soups/stews, and hot pot are available. With the exception of the fondue, hibachi, and hot pot, most lunch entrees are $ 9.99 or less. Beverage-wise, you can get Korean soju, wine, and beer. Yes, they have an unlimited all-you-can-eat(AYCE) option for $ 25.99. This is what we ordered. It comes with: * «The Stone» — premium salted thick pork belly * Pork belly marinated in chef’s choice sauce * Thick pork neck * Premium paper thin pork belly * Five layer pork belly * Premium brisket(beef) * Chicken bulgogi(marinated) * Boiled corn(and melted) cheese * Steamed egg * Soybean paste soup * Korean cold noodles The meats are unlimited, but some of the sides are not. You only get one of the corn cheese, steamed egg, and soybean soup per table. You only get one of the Korean cold noodles(miniature size) per person. Also, there are some traditional Korean banchan(side dishes) which are complimentary and unlimited, but must be requested. Selection may vary, but for our dinner, it included kimchi, spicy pickled bean sprouts, broccoli and other veggies in gochujang(fermented spicy sauce), and a mayo-based noodle/veggie salad. Instead of the meats being served in set courses, we got to pick and choose which meats we wanted. This means, unlike other places, you don’t have to try everything that’s included on the unlimited menu. If you want to gorge on 2 or 3 particular types of meat, have at it. We wanted to try everything, so we went down the list, one by one. I enjoyed everything. My favorites were the first two items: «The Stone» and the pork belly marinated in chef’s choice sauce. In general though, I thought all of the meats were good quality and satisfying. We each got a sauce tray which had 4 sauces: a salt, pepper, and oil mix, ssamjang(Korean thick spicy paste normally used for wraps), chili sauce, and a tangy Thai sauce. The latter two are uncommon at Korean BBQ restaurants. The tray also includes raw cucumbers and carrots and pickled white daikon radish slices. The steamed egg(gyeran jjim) was among the best I’ve had anywhere. The cold noodles, served with vinegar and spicy mustard, were excellent. I would return for the noodles alone. We had complimentary bottles of Maeil Biofeel, a Korean yogurt drink, to end our meal. Service was great. Thank you to hostess Cyndi, manager Tiffany, Song, Janet, and especially Ellie, who cooked most of our food.

We decided to go out and try a new spot. My friend ordered the kimchi bibambop and I had the bulgolgi bibambop. Both of our dishes looked exactly the same with the exception of the veggie/meat. There was very little bulgolgi in my dish but I loved the presentation in the skillet. The black mushrooms were very flavorful. It came with miso soup but it was barely warm. The toppings came with spicy squid which is different and haven’t seen offered in other spots. The cinnamon drink was complimentary, cold, sweet, and palette cleansing. The hot barley tea was perfect for the cold weather today. The service was perfect today but we were the only table there. They were fully staffed so I’m not sure why it was so dead and I’m also not sure why they didn’t have bbq today. They said they weren’t «prepared» to serve bbq and they specialize in bbq so it’s a good thing we weren’t craving that today.

My first experience 3 weeks ago was much better than last thusday, service was slow and the disj of the day was a bad recommendation bt the watress, the good part of it is that the manager was always asking and checking on the table . Will give it a try again.

Apparently when the restaurant is «slow» the servers don’t have sections so we essentially had no server. We ate on a Friday night(a slow night right?) and they set up our table with everything BUT the meat. They(as in several of the servers) forgot the orders and forgot 4 more times SOMEHOW. Halfway through our meal, the employees decide to sit down and eat/relax with a restaurant full of people still, you know, there. We ended up changing out our own grill when it was burnt. One server handed my friend a bowl of raw meat and walk away without a word. I saw the manager pour a full pitcher of water on a super hot grill at the table beside us for some reason(they were not happy either). The sides were not tasty(no garlic, kimchi, or bean sprout. Just a bunch of sauce, cucumber, and onions) or filling and that was the majority of our $ 160+ meal. At a kbbq joint, you pay for good service and good sides or else you might as well grill at home.

So this restaurant seems to have a tip share system where the servers are not designated sections, and instead serve tables in a «free for all» fashion. Ergo, the service was not only TERRIBLE, but essentially Non-Existent. Now, I’ve been a server before and I’m not the type to jump on here and grill a place with a bad review for a server that was sub-par. Just to elaborate after ordering the«Unlimited» option my table had to wait 20 minutes just for the first batch of raw meat to come out. When I asked a server what was taking so long, it was evident that they had just forgotten to ring in the order. Needless to say, no one came by after that. We complained the manager and since we are«kids» in her eyes(We are in our mid 20s) she wouldn’t even take us seriously. Rant aside, the food itself is just«okay.» The meat quality is «okay» and everything just tasted«okay.» I’d avoid this place at all costs if I were you.

I heard about this new restaurant from a friend, and after seeing a few reviews on Unilocal boasting of a Korean beef rib cheese fondue, I had to take one of my besties there for a belated birthday lunch. It had her favorites: korean, meat, and cheese! The entire menu was pretty much her favorite foods. Things that we got to eat were: –corn cheese: melted cheese over a plate of hulled corn –steamed egg, korean style –korean kalbi(beef shortrib) fondue: yes I took a video, no Unilocal will not let me upload it. — — — - Corn Cheese: this is what it is folks. And it is GOOD. PROS –great amount: definitely shareable –good flavor: not super soggy which is what I’d expect from corn sizzling on a hot plate –lots of cheese: CONS –none — — – PROS –huge amount/quantity: it came in a stone bowl that was almost too big for the bowl! –while not the super silky version like the Japanese kind, this is still ridiculously tasty –not overly salty or overseasoned CONS –none — — — Kalbi Fondue: this was amazing. Total genius! The cheese is lumped on the side and then set on the grill with the meat pre-cooked. The order comes with a minimum of 2 ppl per order and dukkbokki is mixed into the ribs. There is a spicy and non-spicy version. Reviews said that the spicy version was super spicy so I ordered the non-spicy or the least spicy version. I would say that this was just nice for me personally. Two other friends ordered the spicy version and it wasn’t bad either! PROS –great quantity: definitely shareable among 3 people if they are all light eaters –crusty cheese! –very flavorful –the ricecake is also a nice break from just meat and cheese CONS –none unless you want something healthy, this is definitely a heavier meal I’d totally come back to try their regular korean bbq, but their kalbi fondue is pretty darn good. I just wish I could upload my time-lapse video to show you all how the magic happens! GOGOGO!

Tried here for the first time tonight after a long wait at Breakers and Iron Age. Very nice restaurant located in H– Mart. We all tried AYCE. Quality meat is good but mainly pork belly only one choice of beef which is beef brisket. Chicken Bulgogi is no taste and looked gross. The side dish and egg is the bomb but the variety of meat is not good enough to beat Iron Age. we get tired after a few round of pork belly, too much fat and the pork not marinated so it got bored after a while. Service is slow and our server is not communicating well in English. He tried to served 3 tables at the same time. I might come back to try different combo or pork rib cheese fonde but we would still go to other place for AYCE if the line was not too long. Maybe if they put more variety of choice of meat in the future. overall nice staff, you guys should try it.

I think this place is the best overall Korean BBQ in Atlanta that I’ve been to so far. I think the meat quality is pretty high for what it is. We ordered a combo thing($ 70) that came with thick and thin pork slices as well as thick/thin beef pieces, which is meant for 2 – 3 people. The pork wasn’t overall fatty like some place and neither was the beef. The plate came with 3 whole pieces of those mushrooms you get at Korean BBQ places(don’t know the name). The combo also comes with egg soufflé thing, miso soup, rice(upon request), and cold buckwheat noodles at the end. The noodles come in a small bowl about the size of the miso soup, which I think is fine b/c most people are too full to finish a whole bowl anyways. They provide onions and salad and each person gets something similar to a bento plate consisting of 4 types of sauces, a few slices of radish, and carrots and cucumbers. I thought the presentation of all this was very nice opposed to just having separate dishes and bowls. You also get kimchi and bean sprout kimchi. The service was friendly and helpful. There wasn’t one guy dedicated to cooking our meat. Whoever walks by just did it. The locations is pretty huge with regular tables and a section with grilling tables. They can probably fit 70 or so. The design is very nice and modern and can appeal to any people groups but they serve all the traditional Korean dishes reeking of garlic. It’s beautiful. Overall, I think it’s the best Korean BBQ place in Atlanta to this point.

My boyfriend and I mainly came here to try one thing we’ve been seeing float around social media… the Rib Fondue. All the images of our friends posting them made our mouths water and made it a mission to go and try it out. The Stone Grill is in the Super H Mart Plaza on Pleasant Hill, next to Raku. Very easy to find. Service was great, majority was staffed by young, english speaking waiters and waitresses, with the exception of maybe one non-english speaking.(although she was super nice and checked up on us anyways!) When we took a look at the menu, there was a lot to offer, AYCE kbbq, a la carte items… but we were there for one purpose, and that purpose was for the rib fondue. The menu says it serves two, but the waiter said it could serve 3. When it came out, to be honest, I had my doubts of it actually getting us full, because it was just a couple ribs and cheese.(they also give you rice if you would like) But it was enough for us two, not sure about 3 though, unless you all want to be hungry afterwards. It’s an amazing sight to watch the cheese melt, then dip the sauce covered rib in the melty goodness. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Westerners might find the idea weird though, ribs… dipped in cheese… but Koreans love their mozzarella cheese on everything! Don’t hate until you try it! And the cheese helps with the spiciness. Speaking of spicy, the«regular» was SOSPICY! But SOGOOD! Although it was really tasty, it was very hard to tough through and finish because it was pretty damn spicy. That’s probably my only reason for giving this review a 3 instead of a 4. Our waiter was kind enough to tell us next time we order it, just ask for it to be even less spicy and they will save your taste buds from the fire. I’ll have to come back to try the actual KBBQ, but I do like this place.

BF is my eating partner in crime and I found people posting a cheese fondue dish that looked TASTY! I thought it would be something you ordered on the side to share, but it’s a two person dish. Thr waiter told us that it was hugeee, enough for three! No. It was decent. It’s more like anju aka Korean drunk food. It was hard to eat it as a main meal. So we ordered rice as well. The dish is ¾ cheese and pieces of braised spicy pork ribs that the waiter debones in front of you. It’s good, just doesn’t hit the spot. Everyone else was eating AYCE and I’m thinking of going back. However, I wouldn’t order the fondue dish again. That egg side was legit though.

I came here on several occasions and I’ve always been pleasantly satisfied with the good food accompanied by the friendly service. If you go during the week, there’s a better chance of getting a table. On the weekends, it’s quite packed and busy. There’s more pork than beef on the menu but they also have a several non-bbq options such as their kimchi&dumpling hot pot as well as different variations of bibimbap. The cheese fondue with ribs was delicious! It’s a lot easier to eat when you take the bones out and just mix the cheese up with the meat. It’s a lot more filling than I thought it would be. You can also adjust the level of spiciness for the ribs as well so that’s a bonus for those who can’t handle their spicy. The meal finishes off with a serving of cold noodles and a serving of sweet rice drink. Overall, great service and great food is what keeps bringing me back here.

The pros: The«ninja pork’ was very tasty, with enough fat to tenderize the meat and add more flavor. Many of the accompanying dishes were good. The bulgogi that others got was well-reviewed. The cons: service was slow, not particularly knowledgable, and sometimes hard to track down. A somewhat complicated payment process was handled poorly. They seemed to have forgotten to bring out sauces to us. They had to be reminded twice to get us rice. The other pork dish was only so-so. The music was annoying.

Don’t go to late, they closed early. Last call was 10pm, sign and Unilocal had it 11pm. Sucks when you are driving to the place and they are closed. Most sit down Korean BBQ business’s would always accept customers even 30 minutes before they close. We will see what this new place got. I will check back in a couple days to update the review.

I am a huge supporter of local businesses. And Having eaten at many korean establishments from hawaii to nyc, I am truly dissappointed in this place. It looked so promising as we walked in for what appeared to be a recent grand opening. Aside from the new décor, industrial looking vent systems above each grill table, and granite table tops, the menu was limited and to my surprise they didnt serve much beef. The disappointment continued as we initially placed our order for a table of 6. We wanted to try their«unlimited» bbq and ordered 3 for the table and 3 bibimbaps for the rest of my party of 6. The waiter came back and stated that the entire table needs to order the same unlimited bbq! Meaning inorder to have 3 people order the unlimited bbq, the other 3 in our party had to also order the unlimited bbq(even my 98 yr grandma). I normally would walk out of any restaurant that has absurd policies like that! We even asked the waiter to just keep the bill seperate and they still werent going to accomodate. Instead they offered to charge ½ price for my 98 yr old grandmother. The unlimited bbq was very limited to mainly pork products. Thick sliced bacon, thin sliced bacon, thicker sliced bacon, thick sliced bacon in chef special saice… Whatever you call it. It was mainly bacon! Bacon 4 ways is still bacon! In all fairness the unlimited bbq also included choice of chicken two ways(spicy or marinated: both were flavorless) and pork ribs. No beef kalbi! All the meat except the pork ribs was FROZEN as they were placed on the grill. Very unappetizing to see your meats thaw out on the grill. I have never had frozen meat placed directly on the grill at any korean establishment or any restaurant as a fact. The only product that was thawed before being serviced at the table was the pork ribs. Thats not saying much as the pork ribs were«deboned» and looked more like mesentery with large pieces of cartliage and grizzle attached to the strands like pieces of pork. Even the sides that normally accompany a korean bbq was lacking in variety, flavor and quality. For example: for out 1 table of 6 ordering 6 unlimited bbqs; we received 1 tofu soup(about 10 ounces or less) and a steamed egg. And when we asked for another serving of the steamed egg, we were told we only get 1 per table. Maybe the key is to go as individuals so each person can get a tofu soup and a steamed egg instead of 1 serving size for 6 people. The ONLY saving grace was the dedicated service by our waiter whom diligently attended to the grill. Though service is only a part of the experience, we were there for food and left quite disappointed and hungry not to mention indigestion from eating mostly bacon. I would NEVER return to such a restaurant. Four stars for the server and a fraction of one star for food. If you are looking to mainly eat bacon, this place is for you! If you want serious korean bbq– Unilocal somewhere else.

New spot! Great venue. Spacious. Clean. Mostly pork on the menu. A couple of chicken dishes. NOBEEF. My boyfriend and I went for Sunday lunch. We wanted Korean BBQ but the options weren’t as generous. We decided to go for the meal which included side dishes and soup. The lunch price was good for what we had. My bf food came out and I had to wait because my ordered got mixed up. That was a little annoying because I was hungry. When the food came out, they forgot to cook it with the spicy sauce. It was good for what we had. The soup could have been a lot hotter. And they didn’t have a variety of drinks. No sake. Hite beer. I will go back but with more people.

ALERT: New Korean BBQ restaurant. ALERT. And it’s GOOD. The Stone Grill opened last week(9÷29÷15, I believe) in the H-Mart plaza, next door to Raku. I saw pictures from a non-Yelper and knew I had to give it a try. That video of the melted cheese fondue? Omg. There are combos and other options, but there is also the AYCE option, which was $ 25.99 a person. The menu includes multiple pork cuts and chicken. No beef, but honestly? I didn’t miss the beef. Our server, Cameron, was very friendly and nice! He brought me hot tea, per my request(free) and our waters. After he served us initially, other servers stopped by and helped us turn the meat or adjust the heat, while stopping to make small talk. The lady in the front(I’m assuming is the owner) spoke only Korean and we had trouble figuring out what she wanted us to do. Thank goodness all the servers were able to communicate with us in English! I felt like our waters were full the entire evening(they kept bringing us bottles of water without us needing to ask). The manager came over a couple times to flip some of the meat, and made friendly small talk while cooking our food. I’m pretty sure I only touched the stove and prongs once the entire night. We got one of every kind of meat on the AYCE menu: Thinly Sliced Pork Pork Neck Chef’s Choice marinated Pork Belly(wine was flavor of choice tonight) THICK cut pork belly Chicken Bulgogi Spicy Chicken Pork Ribs My favorite was the pork neck, so that was all we asked for seconds of. The thinly sliced pork was also good — reminded me of the beef brisket most AYCEBBQ restaurants offer, but better. The pork ribs had a weird aftertaste, but the initial flavor was on point. I LOVED the wine pork belly — I’ve had it at multiple places, and I’ve never had it marinated so beautifully before. It was obvious that the pork hadn’t just been glazed with wine, but soaking in it for a good minute. Very tasty, indeed. The chicken was moist and tender, but I could have just done with one or two bites, not the entire serving. No gochujang here, but they offer this green sauce that they use a Thai pepper(I believe that’s what the manager said) and Sprite to mix up. Yes, it sounds odd but it was my favorite sauce and I just couldn’t stop. There weren’t too many banchan options, but they do give you radish wraps and some super spicy radish banchan. The salad was evenly dressed while the raw onions were just what the meat needed. The bean sprouts and the kimchi kept burning real quickly on the stainless steel stove, but I do like em crispy! A cool thing to note is the garlic that they cook in a small aluminum foil cup. Wait until the garlic is soft and deep fried to a beautiful perfection — let it dry before popping one in your mouth. YES. It was sad that they didn’t offer us the steamed egg(maybe it only came with the combo? Or on request) because that is one of my favorite parts of the whole experience. I wonder if they would have brought it out complimentary if I asked for it. However, they did bring out two bowls of cold noodles(I’m not going to attempt to spell that out), with the option of spicy or normal. I was glad to have gotten spicy, and it was delicious! I was pleasantly surprised, since in not a huge fan of cold noodles. Hours are odd right now, but Cameron said they are still adjusting and playing the closing hours by ear. Right now, they are closing their kitchen around 10pm, but they let us stay and finish our food until 10:40! Thanks guys! Oddly enough, I don’t smell like meat and grease. HOWISTHISPOSSIBLE? The only place I smell the meat is on my hands. Because, well, I use my hands(with chopsticks) to grab food. Mind blowing. I’ll have to ask HOW next time, because there will definitely be a next time. Ironically, it is noted that 4 workers came over from Iron Age(pun most definitely intended). Cue the downfall of Iron Age and the rise of the Stone [Age] Grill. I’m laying on the couch at home now and I’m SOFULL with a little heartburn… but I am happy to have taken the plunge. I hope everyone else will experience the acid reflux with me(just kidding), although I worry at how they will be able to handle sudden popularity overnight… A great, new(and better) alternative to the usual AYCE Korean BBQ restaurants in Duluth.
