Old school diner feel. Great prices and huge portions. Their pancakes are thicker than normal and they have a homemade cinnamon syrup that’s fantastic!

Bottom line it’s a greasy spoon… cheap, fast, ridiculous portions and average food. The place is always packed on the weekends. My egg Bennys wasn’t anything special the gf loved her omelette, overall it was good for the price.

Great food and lots of it. If you are traveling to the North Shore make sure to stop here on your way.

Pretty good diner fare. Stopped in at 10:00am on a Sunday and all the tables were full but we were able to grab a seat the counter right away. I had the spinach omelette, spinach feta and tomato with hashbrowns on the side. I requested to have cheese added to the Browns and it made a world of difference. The omelette was over done, you know when it gets sort of brown and dry? Yeah, like that. Still edible but just ok. Companion had a patty melt and said it was ok, a little low on flavor. Huge plus that it’s dirt cheap and hella fast. Would come back if passing through and needed a quick bite but not wowed.

I’ve never had faster service at a breakfast joint before. This place was faster than McDonald’s drive through and it caught me off guard. The food was pretty good as well. They use simple ingredients and produce pretty good food. Their French toast is almost like French toast and a pancake had a baby, but it’s tasty. I think I ordered their gyros scrambler and it comes with a side of tzatziki sauce which actually went super well with the mound of potatoes, onions, gyro meat and eggs. I’ll for sure be back here again the next time I’m in town. Great service and food.

Uncle Loui’s is a must stop if you are visiting Duluth, MN. They serve great breakfast all day long as well as lunch and dinner options. The stuffed Blueberry French Toast is my favorite dish on the menu. The pancakes are huge don’t make the mistake of ordering too many, did that once. Be prepared to wait, sometimes even outside on the weekends when looking for a table, they have plenty of seating but even more customers. If you are in the market for a good breakfast that wont break the bank, look no further than Uncle Loui’s Café.

Really great food, quality service and fine atmosphere. Had a marvelous time and my only complaint is the coffee was weak that day. I’m honestly guessing it was something unusual and no one working there was drinking any as it was later morning(10AM.) Highly recommended.

The service was very fast and really friendly. The food was delicious! We had breakfast there and it was exactly what Café food is supposed to be like. The hash browns are so good. Add onions!

It’s good, but the line is usually way too long. Don’t try it in the winter, or you’ll be waiting outside. You have to try it once for a Duluth experience, but there are other breakfast places with quicker service.

Amazing food, diner atmosphere, and great service! We visited While on vacation in Duluth and came to the«best breakfast place» in Duluth according to some friends. We were not disappointed. It was busy, but the service was fast and we sat down almost right away. Since we’d heard the French toast was the best, we both ended up getting that. My boyfriend got the stuffed French toast and I got the regular but both were amazing. Love that it’s made with pancake batter so it’s like a pancake-French toast love child! The stuffed French toast looked and tastes amazing. Everything else was pretty standard diner breakfast food but in the best way. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot!

We stopped here based on our local friend’s suggestion. Crazy busy, but worth the wait. The pancakes are fluffy with a unique flavor and the cinnamon syrup is fantastic. My food was a little cold though so the butter didn’t melt on my pancakes. My SO had the Gyro with the soup of the day, he enjoyed both. Service is top notch here, lots of hustle with friendly smiles. Prices are extremely reasonable, under $ 20 for both our meals. We will certainly be back next time we are in town.

Stranger from out of town, found this place on Unilocal while a family member went in for surgery at the hospital next door. Clean, small-town atmosphere inside, like they have regulars who stop in for breakfast and the paper every morning; a paper which they kindly offered to me to read while I waited for my food. I had the three-meat omelette and it was quite delicious — perfectly done and tasted great. The toast on the side tasted fresh-baked. On top of it all, the server was incredibly attentive and quick, never leaving me waiting for a refill on my drink or the check when it came time to leave. Would highly recommend this place again.

I always eat breakfast here when in town!(I cannot believe I have never written a review?!) Here is why you must try it: 1. the food is delicious!!! 2. it has the old school diner feel(very small inside, so expect to wait on weekends) 3. you get a lot of food for a reasonable, cheap price 4, it’s a hidden gem and hard to tell from the outside it will rock your world I almost knocked a star off for my horrible experience last month. We were there with a group of 7, so we expected to eat at separate tables. Luckily we were able to find 2 right next to eat other after only waiting for 5 minutes! The waitress was at our table immediately taking drink orders. She was so sweet brought the kids some color sheets. After our food order was taken, someone dropped the ball. It was 30 min later and everyone around us seemed to be getting their food and leaving.(tables turn quick to kindly let the next guy eat). The waitress blamed the cook, but I think she did not put the order in at all. We felt bad we were holding up 2 tables and the kids were hangry! So, we said that we would have to leave if the food did not come soon. Miraculously, it arrived within minutes. Then I was in heaven, because it was tasty! I took half of it home and will still go back for the food!

Giantest pancake I have ever seen. Good service. The pancakes & French toast didn’t blow me away but it hit the spot. Mmm, carbs… We arrived around 11:30 am on a Tuesday after bailing on Amazing Grace Café(where I know they have good food but the kitchen was«backed up» and the seated customers were about to burn the place down. Seriously. I think one had a pitchfork.) There were a few booths available at ULC(that stands for«uncle loui’s café», which took me way too long to figure out… :-/). There was no wait at all. Also notable — they know how to make bacon CRISPY, if you ask for it. Mmm, bacon…

Well I understand that Uncle Louie’s is in the greasy spoon category. But as I watched the cook place raw meat and eggs on the grill then put cleaned cups and dishes away never once changing her rubber gloves I became concerned. I gave Louie’s three stars because the breakfast food was good. Don’t sit where you can watch the cook.

Awesome little place, very out of the way. Set back from the normal tourist areas but the food is great. Traditional dinner setup and it’s very fast paced. Made it there for a late breakfast and the service was really good. Be careful of timing, the lines can get long which I was surprised at. Good coffee and plenty of it

Not only is this place incredibly inexpensive, it’s delicious. 1– Service. Yes, it’s not great. But what do you expect with a place that gets super packed and is lower priced than other brunch places? 2– Food. Everything is tasty; the French Toast is a great place to start if you don’t know what to get. Side note: if you’re on a diet of some sort… do not come here! Their portions are pretty large for the price, and they’re very greasy as some other Unilocaler mentioned. I can’t help but feel 5 pounds heavier leaving. 3– Ambiance. It’s got a small town feel to it, which I personally enjoy more often than not. If you’re unsure of where to go for breakfast in Duluth, I’d suggest starting here. I’ve definitely had my eggs come out wrong, or undercooked, or some other small issue that probably could’ve been fixed had I spoken up. To others who say their food never came or something was undercooked… maybe you should just say something and they’ll be more than happy to remake it! Not ideal, but a solution.

This place looks like a dive, but it is a fantastic greasy spoon where, for less than $ 10, you will receive enough food to feed a starving village. It tastes great and has that small town, local feel.
