There is a new owner and management. The menu is very expansive. The lunch menu has increased to two sides. You know longer get fortune cookies and an egg roll cost a dollar. But the eggroll is definitely worth the money. The food is more upscale than before and very delicious. It is also noticeably less salty and the previous owners food. If you want hot all you have to do is tell them how hot.

New ownership, TERRIBLENOW! AVOID. Gone cheap, no flavor. Kung Pow Chicken, few peanuts, little chicken, bland flavor. Wonton soup, half the won tons, bland, basically broth. Fried won tons-small and terrible. Low Mein noodles with chicken-oily as can be-no flavor; Spring rolls-TINY! about a quarter the size they used to be, more of a breading than a traditional wrapper, almost no filling, maybe about a pencil diameter. Pork fried rice; ok, again no flavor. Overall; TERRIBLENOW!!! Won’t ;last a year as-is. Need to find a new Chinese restaurant in North Dunedin.

I’ve been here half a dozen times for lunch. We found out that there were new owners and looked at the new menu online. The prices are a little higher and the lunch combo now requires a choice of soup or egg roll not both like before. The portions are smaller. The shrimp, scallop asparagus in black bean sauce only had 2 shrimp 2 scallops tons of asparagus and mushrooms but no flavor. This used to be my favorite Chinese place. I’ll give them one more try(maybe the cook needs more practice)

New owners calling it the Ivory Chinese Bistro. Updated and very expanded menu. Had lunch twice recently and wow, great flavors. Food is fresh, portions are very generous. I cannot wait to try a lot more items. Looking forward to next visit.

We passed by this restaurant on the way back from Palm Harbor and decided to have diner. They seated us on a large round table with a nice lazy Susan to share meal. Our server informed us that they just have a new management and promised us that the dishes are more authentic Chinese. After browsing through their menu, we decided to order some authentic dishes: grouper with spicy XO sauce, seafood fried rice with spicy XO sauce, wasabi shrimp, crispy tofu with garlic, baby bokchoy with garlic sauce, sweet and sour chicken, sizzling beef with black pepper, seafood tofu claypot, and beef chowfun. Yes, we were hungry! In case you are not aware XO is a cognac brand. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food there. Everything tasted good and authentic. The dishes were not too sweet or salty. I personally found the crispy tofu, beef chowfun, grouper with XO sauce, and fried rice in XO sauce to be really exceptional. The wasabi shrimp is OK. So yes, we will be back in the future!

Ivory has gone way downhill with the newer ownership, even though prices have gone up. The food is less fresh and tender, and the service is off and on. Just ordered $ 30 Peking duck delivery at home, waited an hour for it and they delivered it without any pancakes her onions! Called and waited another 20 minutes where those to arrive, although everything else was of course cold and old by then. They were hardly apologetic at all on the phone, just saying«we’re doing our best», and offering no credit or compensation like a professional restaurant would in order to keep you coming back. Although a long time Ivory user, we will be finding a new Chinese restaurant in the area to give our business to.

Have to downgrade from my 5 star review — no longer my fav. They have spruced up the décor but the food isn’t as good as it used to be. Also, smaller portions and slight price increase no longer make it the awesome deal. They still have the best Hot & Sour soup. It was great while it lasted ;(

I don’t know if they came under new management or what happened, but it hasn’t been very good the past few times that I’ve gone.

Some of the better Chinese in the area. The eggplant is magical as is the moo goo gi pan. Good service. They put a little chip appetizer out. Reasonable prices. A bit of a confused ambiance.

DUNEDIN, Florida — Debbie Abramson ordered a Chinese food delivery from Ivory Mandarin Bistro and says the peanut sauce chicken and vegetables dish called«I Don’t Know» on the menu arrived with a questionable consistency. «I noticed the texture of the chicken, it was not normal,» said Abramson. «In fact, it was worse than spongy and I knew something was wrong.» She says it’s not the first time she’s had a bad experience at the restaurant. The Ivory Mandarin Bistro was closed after failing a health inspection. WTSP «I saw a roach by where I was sitting in a booth. And of course that was alarming. I don’t like roaches.» So Abramson asked 10 Investigates to check out the kitchen. State records show Ivory Mandarin Bistro was shut down as an emergency closure for two days beginning Sept. 10 with 27 violations after someone filed an anonymous complaint about grease icicles from the hood dripping into the woks. The complainant went on to say two softball-sized toads where underneath the wok burners feeding on an infestation of German cockroaches. A health inspector sent in to investigate the next day discovered live roaches and the accumulation of grease on food contact services and pooling on the ground. So 10 Investigates stopped in to check on conditions now two months later. Owner Puguh Sutahan was at first reluctant to allow our camera in the kitchen. «Today we have so many things going on, maybe we can do another time,» said Sutahan when we first arrived. But after about an hour of waiting he eventually agreed to allow us inside. «I have no problem,» he said. Inside, we immediately started spotting some repeat violations this restaurant was warned to correct on previous inspections. Among the issues, raw meat stored in the walk-in cooler in nonfood grade plastic to go bags, an open employee water bottle stored right on top. Employee personal items — a hat, keys and cigarettes — were stored in and around the bowls. And while we didn’t see any toads, grease was still dripping down under the cooking equipment. «We do cleaning every day,» said Sutahan. We also spotted evidence of remaining insect activity finding a dead roach on the floor in the middle of the kitchen. Under the ice machine we found a single live roach. It’s no surprise — roaches are attracted to grease and the standing water we found dripping underneath equipment. Plus the back kitchen door was wide open allowing vermin easy access inside. But perhaps most disturbing was what we found in the employee restroom right next to where food is made. There was no soap or paper towels for employees to wash their hands, usually considered a high-priority violation on official state health inspections. The owner asked employees to correct the issue right away. He says despite the issues we pointed out the restaurant’s food is safe for customers. «It’s pretty clean and the food is great,» said Sutahan. And while Abramson has no idea what was wrong with her chicken, she’s not impressed with Ivory Mandarin Bistro’s history of recurring health code violations. «If they keep doing it they don’t care,» said Abramson. «It’s wrong to let that continue.» You can see Ivory Mandarin Bistro’s complete inspection history here.

I went here with my kids. They have really good sweet and sour pork, best I have had in Pinellas County so far. Their imperial duck was delicious and had just the right amount of spices. The crispy duck was really good with just the right amount of tasty duck fat. The ambiance was slightly low-lit, quiet and had nice décor. The waitress was friendly and we had a great overall experience. I will be back to try other dishes.

I went here with a group that was seated at 5 large tables. The restaurant had prepared a family-style dinner for us. Each table received appetizers, soup and 4 different entries served in large bowls. Everything seemed well-prepared and smelled good. The restaurant served fruit for dessert. The servers handled the large group well. They brought us boxes to divvy up the leftover food. However, after a second visit, I lowered my rating and threw out the leftovers. Check out the WTSP news video of their visit to this restaurant’s kitchen. Also, you might want to check the restaurant out: Florida inspection ratings:

I stopped in with a friend raving about this place, but unfortunately, the other reviewers were right. This once mighty place has really fallen. The service was always bad, but now the food wasn’t good enough to make the service worth it. It hurts me to say that my once favorite Chinese restaurant is now on my list of terrible dinning experiences. It’s hard to believe that the same hard working owners let their wonderful restaurant that used to put out the best and freshest food around, serve what it does today.

Bad. Bad.Bad. My wife makes better Chinese cuisine at home. Atmosphere 75 Old style Chinatown décor. Nothing fancy. Service 75 Prompt and courteous Food 70 Forget about it Value 70 Cheap and it matched the food Keep looking if you are in the mood for Chinese food. Nothing about this place rings right. It is definitely not a Bistro. It is an old fashion Chinese restaurant. The cuisine is mixed and poorly prepared.

I finally tried this place on Christmas Day and it was very good. I tried their seafood over crispy noodles, which was delicious, but could use a little more seafood. Then I ordered the pan fried dumplings, egg drop soup and a small spare ribs which we’re quite delicious. I highly recommend this place for good Chinese food
Do not go here ! The food is mediocre at best. My boyfriend found a piece of metal from a scrub pad in his food, he lost his appetite and wanted a refund. Instead they just gave him 10% off his untouched meal! Completely gross out from their food and the way they run business. Our first and LAST time there

I have been doing China Sea for delivery in the Countryside area, but because of the review of a fellow Unilocaler friend, I decided to try this. I was not disappointed. The Walnut Shrimp was very tasty. I’ve had this other places and it is up there with some of the best… with the exception of this little place in Marin County California. We also tried. Hunan Beef, eggs drop soup and krab wontons(apparently not real Crab but still tasty) They asked us how hot on a scale of 1 – 10 we wanted the Hunan beef. I asked for a 7 and it was not hot at all. Next time I will try 10, but feel like if what we had was a 7 I am going to need a bigger chart. So don’t be afraid to order high numbers. There was no heat. The delivery was fast. The food was very good. It was notably more expensive than China Sea so we will have to alternate depending on how skinny my bank account is feeling.
