Impressed with the fresh high quality food prepared with care to presentation. The jalapeño margarita was without a doubt amazing(only problem, my glass had a hole in it… kidding! I ordered a second). Guacamole was fabulous with just the right spice. The zoodles were awesome and the kitchen had no problem preparing them without bacon. We were too stuffed for dessert but might return just for the Carrot Cake. If I haven’t convinced you EATTHERE!

Family of 4, 2 teenage boys and 2 that are gluten free. This joint rocks it on every level. Drinks, beers and food. Rustic and refined with incredible flavor. Not much of a wait on a Saturday night. When I come back to this town I will eat here again — you should too.

We loved it so much the first day we came back again the next day. Outstanding food and service. Great steak and fish taco. Pizza is the best in town. Must try.

The food was good. No question about it, very innovative dishes. The pork tacos & margarita pizza were phenomenal. My only complaint is that I don’t live closer.

This is one of the very best restaurants in Durango, and by far my personal fav! The specials and appetizers are usually where I find my very favorite items but the roasted poblano chile on the menu is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. My carnivorous husband even orders it, sans meat! The cocktails are equally amazing and dessert never disappoints. Great atmosphere and friendly staff, in the heart of downtown.

Amazing food!!! Thank you Unilocalers, you were right! Went in with party of 7, had great service and the best food I’ve had in a long time. I’m from Orange County, CA so I’ve had some of the best restaurants and was totally blown away by a small local spot in Durango. Must tries are the Mac & Cheese, stuffed poblano chile. Love the atmosphere too. It’s an element place but they were accommodating to the 2 kids in our party. Next time I’m in town il coming back here.

We had a lovely dinner here last night. Started with drinks. I had the blood orange margarita and my husband had the regular. Mine had a touch too much orange, but both were strong, well mixed, and smooth. We started with the queso fundido which was fantastic with loads of poblano peppers and served with chips and got bread. Yum. Missing a little bite(maybe goat cheese? Or seasoning?) but overall delish. We shared a pizza with sausage and salami(no pepperoni, which was odd, but the salami subbed in nicely). Well cooked, not enormous, but more than enough with drinks and the dip. Our waiter was courteous and seemed to know when to be there and when to disappear. The ambience was lovely and overall made for an excellent experience. No complaints at all. Knocking off one star because $ 80 is a bit pricey for dinner, especially if you’re splitting an entrée. But would still return again with big smiles on our faces.

Great place with awesome food, atmosphere and drinks. You may be curious why I am giving it 1 star then. The answer is simple, extremely rude hostesses. As a local we frequent Chimayo often, but not without often run in with a rude employee. The most recent time we wanted to go to Chimayo to have a couple of drinks prior to our diner reservations else where(5pm on a Friday). Upon arriving we stood in the entrance for about 2 minutes with not host. We noticed about 5 – 8 people sitting and enjoying drinks and pizza so we went ahead and sat down at the high top tables next to the bar(I am not 21 but the rest of my party is so we didn’t sit at the bar). soon after sitting down a host approached us and said«Hello have you been seated?». We replied with«no we have been waiting and all we want is to have some drinks». The host preceded to tell us that the high top tables are for dining and walked away disgusted without giving us a solution. I understand we may have been at fault seating our selves but the attitude we received was not needed. After we ordered our first round of drinks the host walked up to our waiter and said«really only four drinks and no food»(I overheard this as I was going to the restroom). Now on edge I watched this host parade around the restaurant gossiping about us coming in to only get drinks as if she was annoyed by our business. I am very disappointed by the recent service and hope that next time will be better. Ignore any grammatical mistakes/errors, I typed this in a hurry.

Best vegetarian meal in ages. Up there with big-city cuisine, in a friendly atmosphere with plenty of fresh air from the open front of the restaurant. Delicious, creative, generous portions, completely satisfying. I highly recommend Chimayo for vegetarians. We ordered several things. Favorite was Stuffed Poblano Chile with mushroom, zucchini, corn and tres queso filling, pepita crust, Chimayo red pepper sauce, crema, served with saffron rice, black beans and house coleslaw. This alone is worth dining here. Even if you’re a meat fan, try this. The chile was fresh and delicious, the crust crunchy and flavorful(unlike the«chile rellano» you get at a typical Mexican or Southwestern restaurant), and the filling super-yummy — and plenty of it. Cauliflower«Steak» — pan-roasted cauliflower, sauteed veggies, parmesan & oven-dried tomato vinaigrette — was unusual and yummy, cooked to a perfect texture. Roasted Brussels Sprouts, cranberries and toasted almonds(without the bacon) — a huge portion that was more than 3 people could eat. Delicious, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just until done(no soggy mush here) They were out of the butternut squash risotto cakes(which the waiter raved about). Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable without being syruppy or obsequious. My only complaint — the place is very noisy — even when half full. On a busy weekend night, probably would be too loud for me and definitely too loud for older folks. Highly recommend this place for vegetarians. Hope they find a way to reduce the noise.

One of the better meals we’ve had in a while. I had an amazing mushroom and caramelized onion pizza, and my wife had a great poached pear salad. For dessert we had a wonderful pear and cranberry tart. We’ve only got 3 nights in Durango this trip, but we’re already planning to return tomorrow. For tomorrow I think the mushroom pizza needs a repeat, but I’m eager to give the cauliflower steak a try. A tip: sit at the at in front of the kitchen. You’ll spend the evening drooling over all the dishes you see being prepared.

Terrible. What a horrible experience. I do not recommend this place. Walked in at 9:15 on a Friday night and was skeptical as the reviews aren’t that great but thought I’d give it a try. Take this in to consideration: It wasn’t even busy for a Friday. We were greeted by the host right away and she sat us in the bar are at a high top after giving us an eye roll when asking us where we wanted to sit. We sat for 20 mins and were never greeted again, no waitress/waitor.NOONE came by our table to take a drink/food order. Several waiters walked right by our table after serving food right next to our table. It made us so uncomfortable that we got up and left. I don’t even need to say any more. Absolutely terrible. I will never return. Ever.

Gave this place a chance since the Irish Embassy Pub was only serving brunch and my parents and I were ready for lunch! We were seated promptly, given menus, and served a pitcher of water for the table. My dad ordered the Machaca scramble, my mom had the steak tacos, and I ordered the pork street tacos. The food took quite awhile to come out, to the point where we were going to flag down our waitress and ask what was going on. But just as we were going to do this she came with the food :) I LOVED the pork tacos. The plate comes with two of them that are STUFFED with delicious, spicy meat. Topped with fresh avocado and pico de gallo and only a tiny bit of cheese = PERFECTION. On the side they give you a delicious mixed kale salad/slaw. I was so ecstatically happy with my order that I scarfed it down in minutes. The steak tacos are a favorite of my mom’s so there were no problems there. The meat was tasty and the side salad was fresh. My dad enjoyed his scramble but said the eggs were a bit undercooked in some parts which gave them a weird texture. The interior of the restaurant is chill but also classy looking which I enjoyed. There were so many great options on the menu that I’m definitely looking forward to coming back here again!

We were just shopping our way thru Durango and decided to break for lunch. Chimayo caught our eye, and after a few things on the outdoor menu caught our eye we decided to venture in. Comfortable and tastefully modern design without looking like they tried too hard. Our server was pleasant and helpful. We had Mahi Tacos, the BLTA Pizzetta, the Margherita Pizzetta, and the Mac and Cheese. Portions were generous and the food was excellent! We wish this restaurant was in our home town of Prescott Arizona so we could return more often.

Hubby and I wanted an early dinner upon our arrival in Durango, and this was one of a few restaurants that was open that didn’t seem too touristy. The service was excellent, but there were very few patrons in the restaurant at the time. Sean, our server, was prompt and friendly, and very helpful in providing hubby suggestions for beers. Hubby ordered the beef tacos and he said they were definitely good. I ordered the poblano cheddar burger, which was very juicy and tasty. The happy hour Cabernet Sauvignon was mediocre, but the price was right.

If I lived here this would be one of my favorite restaurants! We had brunch on a Sunday and it was fantastic! We asked for ranch dressing or Blue cheese and they don’t have them which I love because it makes me try something different! They offered instead their creamy cilantro; can I bottle it and take it home? Service was great and atmosphere was comfortable and stylish!
