A healthier alternative to fast food places out there. Salads are always fresh, crisp, and absolutely huge– they overflow off the plate. Sandwich options aren’t bad either: the oven-roasted turkey panini I ordered had juicy, tender, and unprocessed meat wrapped in a soft warm pita, and the falafel wrap was chock full of veggies although a bit dry and lacking some kind of sauce or dressing. If you’re inclined to try some unhealthy options, the fries and baklava aren’t bad but not particularly exciting. Overall, the highlights are definitely the salads, of which there are numerous choices. A pleasant spot to grab an inexpensive and healthy lunch.

It’s your basic, run-of-the-mill made-to-order deli style place serving up paninis, wraps and salads. Where it excels is the access to quick and dirty mediterranean flavours when you’re in this part of town — moderately priced($ 6 – 9) fare but they give you a big serving. It’s a worthy alternative to the other fast food places nearby. We stopped by here the other day after scouting out some stores nearby for a light dinner with baby in tow. The space is large with plenty of indoor/outdoor seating and at the time we came, a bit unkempt — stacked up plates near the garbage area and missing flatware. However, the food was spot on! We ordered a falafel wrap with fries and a oven-roasted turkey panini with a side salad. The panini is more of the flatbread variety(think pita), but packed full of their(they claimed when we asked) in-house roasted and cut to order turkey breast. Their claims were substantiated — the thick sliced turkey was surprisingly juicy and didn’t exude that nitrate emitting processed stuff you usually find elsewhere. They do not skimp on greens… and true to their name, both the side salad and falafel were filled to the brim in nice quality mixed greens. The falafel itself wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was made fresh to order and piping hot out of the fryer(I’m guessing). Fries were also freshly fried… but seemed like they were of the generic processed kind. Well, it’s «fast» food, right? Complaints? The falafel wrap was a bit underdressed(i.e., dry) — I usually like a bit more tahini sauce, but it was still tasty. And the side salad was a bit overdressed. My advice, ask for more/less sauce of even try to see if they’ll give it to you«on the side». Overall, great experience for what it is and a welcome addition for lighter fare if you aren’t craving a greasy burger or some fried chicken. 3.5 stars. Just a few other notes: They do have free wifi. I did notice some discrepancies between the prices on the wall menu and the laminated ones lying around. But in general, you should be able to escape for less than $ 10 out of here. It seems like the better deal is the $ 5.99 Gyro w/fries and a drink or the $ 5.99 build your own salad. FWIW, kid specials exist as well… but we didn’t explore them this visit.

Since Doc Greens has some really bad reviews in addition to some really good ones, I went there a couple of times before writing my review. Just wanted to make sure I got a thorough experience. Doc Greens has some unique selections, their concept of mixing your salad for you in a bowl is cool, the sandwiches are delicious, and the price is A-Ok. I’ve been very pleased with the ability to customize the offerings. And, the food is quite fresh. There are some complaints on here about freshness, but I didn’t experience any issues in multiple visits. One of the other reviewers mentioned that Panera has better menu choices than Doc Greens. Wanna know why? Panera food is LOADED with fat and sodium. Doc Greens food is actually, really, honestly, pretty healthy. So, comparing these two restaurants isn’t really fair — of course the fatty, salty food tastes better. That’s why we’re all obese. My one issue with Doc Greens: what on earth are you supposed to do with your dishes when you’re done? I’m baffled.

I adore Doc Green’s! :) I have tried their salad(sans meat), their California chicken panini, their turkey club wrap, and now their sirloin panini. I have loved each item. I am having trouble deciding if I love the wrap or California chicken more, but I ADORE their food. Their honey mustard dressing is sooooo tasty! Their greens are fresh, their toppings are fresh, their food is just tasty. I’m curious about the 2 bad reviews on here, because I’ve now been there multiple times and never seen limp greens. Their food tastes very fresh, their salads are huge, and I really like and recommend this place. Although, the one bad review, I think I know the woman you’re talking about, she always forgets my croutons and I have to remind her :/But besides her, the other people are friendly, conscious, and do a great job. And seriously, the food is TASTY: D

not as good as Jasons deli. I got the bbq sandwich along with chicken broccoli soup. The salads also looked good. The soup which was broccoli and cheese was too watery. The sandwich was good but a bti soggy. Salads you can add meat or just get one with meat for 8 – 9 dollars.

Wow, I was simply shocked at the low quality service and food I encountered on my first visit to Doc Greens. I was hoping for a place like Chop’t or Green Tango, but this definitely wasn’t it. I ordered a mixed salad with Salmon — I wasn’t sure how many toppings were the base rate and the woman helping me wasn’t sure either, so I was very surprised when I was charged for an extra topping on my limp greens. Also, I asked if she could chop the leaves or at least mix in my other toppings but she said this, for some unknown reason, was simply not possible. I watched the grill as pieces of chicken(for my friend) and salmon(for me) slowly heated. The lady slapped the piece of chicken on my salad before it was heated all the way through. When I pointed out that I’d ordered the salmon, she looked at me, said«Oh yes» and proceeded to simply remove the undercooked chicken from my salad with the same spatula she then applied my salmon with. Her colleague gave her a slightly concerned look, but she simply shrugged her shoulders. Thankfully I don’t have a food allergy, but I know restaurants are never supposed to have different meats come in contact with each other, either directly or with a utensil. I was pretty put off by the lack of care that went into the preparation of my food. I don’t need you to love what you do, but just do it right, especially if its food and my small salad costs over 10 dollars. It was around 1145 am on a Saturday — the place was basically empty — and while I waited for my salad, I went to wash my hands in the bathroom. It was absolutely disgusting. Toilet paper everywhere, no paper towels, and the sink basin was a mess. I could hardly believe the lack of cleanliness.

The area around Streets at Southpoint is starved for restaurant choices, especially around lunch time. Even so, this would be my last choice after giving it a couple of tries. Souper Salad around the corner has better soup choices and what seem to be healthier, vegetarian choices. Doc Green’s seems to treat salad as a carrier for chicken — mostly fried at that. Doc Green’s salad items are supposed to be very fresh. I would suggest that they fire their marketing folks for over-enthusiasm. I found things on their bar that were well past prime. Although perhaps not as varied, Jason’s Deli has a fresher salad bar than this. Their sandwich choices are limited as well to a few mediocre selections. Panera, just down the street, has this place beat in that category as well, especially for their pannini. If you’re willing to travel, there are other sandwich places that easily trump this chain. Try Merritt’s on Columbia at Fordham Blvd in Chapel Hill for incredible sandwiches including bbq and amazing BLTs(I dare you to finish a triple). Or try Sandwhich, which is off West Franklin St., for really unusual international sandwiches and some of the best soup I’ve ever sampled at a restaurant. Life’s too short to settle for mediocre!

As counter-order sandwich places go, this is among my last choices. There’s not a whole lot of comparable alternative in the area, but I’d recommend heading down the street to the Southpoint Panera instead. Their stuff is all right, particularly the salads. I hear tales that their ingredients are fresh, but I’m not sure what that entails since it certainly doesn’t taste fresh to me. More often than not things tend to be lukewarm or half-heartedly put together… I’m not impressed with their sandwich making skills. The prices are manageable and the service fast. Stay away from the mac & cheese.

Though they’ve got a handful of locations in Georgia, this is their only NC store. It was happily recommended to me by a friend of mine. When we used to live near Patterson Place, we’d frequent J&J’s for big salads or warm sandwiches and gab; and now that we’re both in the Southpoint area, we have Doc’s as a swell stand-in. You order at the counter where you can choose from an array of salads, wraps, sammies, and even a few served-hot items. The turkey breast and portabello paninis are both tasty. This place also makes an excellent to-go option for quick, convenient take-out without fast-foodiness.

The salad bar here is awesome, and the paninis are as well. The broccoli and cheddar soup here is to die for, as is the Doctor Fiesta Salad. All of the ingredients are fresh, and they have good hours. The staff is extremely friendly; a definite place to go when trying to eat healthy.

Lunchtime tends to be pandemonium, there are a lot of businesses around here and clearly not enough choices to service all of them. Doc Green’s has a deceptively healthy name, but the food is not what I would call particularly health conscious. I agree, lettuce IS green, but the herbivore theme kind of stops there. For example, fried chicken tenders are an add-on for most items and mac & cheese is an available side to your salad. Still, you can create a nicely outfitted sandwich, panini or salad or select one of their menu items if you just don’t have the mental energy. If you are in the area and need a bite, it isn’t bad.

Came out smelling like onions but the food was decent. California chicken panini was crisp and happy, avocado is always a happy addition to any sandwich. They had a nice variety of sandwiches(paninis and wraps) and salads that I’d like to try if given the chance. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and cheesy but served lukewarm. Minus ½ star for the destruction of my favorite comfort food. :) Minus another star for making my clothes smell like onions — YUCK! Round up and you get 4 stars. :)
