We went there for lunch buffet and service was not expected as we thought. We waited for almost 20 mins and no IDLI came out plus they were out of Naan and pakora when we went to buffet table. My friend said its a good place but in RTP area I think I can try something else.

I went here last night. I liked the idly sambar. The naan was absolutely amazing, as was the butter chicken and chicken biryani. The paneer wasn’t my fave and it was a bit chilly in the interior, but overall it was a great dining experience.

Pros — the food I had — coconut chutney, peanut something, a red paneer dish and the cabbage were super delicious. — I liked the Sri Ganesh religious peices. — I even liked the incense. Cons — not enough vegetarian dishes. — two tvs playing different music at the same time creating a very unpleasant caucaphnic effect. — odd service, did not pick up plates, didn’t bring out ticket — 91 health score

Service: 3 Food: 4 Ambience: 3 Date/Time: 11/27/20147pm This restaurant offers a main room with booths and tables and 2 TVs playing channels of the native culture(at the time it was music videos) and is located in the shopping center at the corner of Hwys 54 and 55, across from Walgreens. Nothing really fancy, but good food. I did notice, however, the santitation rating was an 86.6 which is a little worrisome, but so far, no food poisoning :-) We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Kadai Chicken with a side of Garlic Naan and a Samosa appetizer. Everything was really very tasty and perfectly spiced! The service was a bit lax, especially with only 2 other tables filled. The server was quick to take our order, but didn’t do much to come back and check on us, even when paying. However, he answered questions and made suggestions, so I give it a 3 for effort. I would definitely recommend it for the food and may come back to try the lunch buffet to get a taste of their other dishes. The server said the Sat/Sun buffet was $ 11.99 which is pretty decent considering the pretty long buffet table they had set up which would seem to fit quite a variety.

Very good Indian food. If you really looking for something which can satisfy your craving to have spicy Indian food, you can try this. We had goat biryani and fried fish. That was good. And you can get really nice Mirapakay Bajji… You should try it…

Our team goes sometimes for lunch. 15 of us, they have two large tables in the back room. Chicken biryani is quite spicy. Plenty of choices on the buffet even for vegetarian.

I’m always a bit disheartened when friends suggest this place for lunch. The interior is dated, with duct tape on the seats and industrial plastic on the tables. The food selection is narrow, especially veg options(are there any?). The sauces aren’t bad and there are some spicier dishes, which I appreciate, but there is only so much chicken I can eat.

Ick. Came here on finding that India Gate is now closed Saturdays. Thick plastic covers on the tables– kind of like the plastic slipcovers old aunts used to have on their living room furniture. No air conditioning on a 90-degree day. No background music. Staff weirdly continually pacing really close to the tables, circling like sharks but never doing anything helpful. We tried in vain to get 2 iced teas. 2. With ice. Tea. Finally got 1 without ice. And a Sprite we didn’t want. Without ice, which we would have wanted had we wanted the Sprite. Food was mostly ok. Big buffet but no vegetables except fried potatoes. Would have likded some saag paneer or mixed vegs or something. Butter chicken & chicken vindaloo good; biryani oddly crispy, naan hard. Loved the sign asking that people not use any more cutlery than necessary. No need to come back.

Do not ever come here. Walk in and first thing I noticed, the AC was not on. The temperature had to be in the high 80s, which was not a good thing considering it was in the 90s outside and I needed to cool down. Waiter seats us down and gets us water and menu. I ordered the kadai paneer as the waiter recommended it. My friend and I waited for half an hour. There were only the 2 of us and yet somehow the 2 dishes ended up taking so long. When it came, I noticed the bowl was tiny and somehow smaller than the rice. My friend wanted rice for her dish, and had to ask 3 waiters for rice. Because somehow they didn’t understand and would just walk away. What type of service is that? She has a mild palate and therefore drank up her water quickly. She was visibly sweating and didn’t eat with her hands on her cup, obviously wanting water. Despite the 4 waiters around the room, no one bothered to refill until we flagged them down. Food was ok, but the price was pretty high for such a small bowl. After we finished, we wanted dessert and asked the guy for mango ice cream. He couldn’t understand what we were saying and kept murmuring to himself. Please speak louder. Turns out they didn’t have any more mango ice cream. Ended up paying $ 15 for average food, terrible service, and clothes soaked wet from sweat due to the heat in there.

This is one of the regular places that my co-workers and I go to for lunch. Two of them are Indian so I trust their judgement on good Indian food. We always get the lunch buffet. The choices are kind of limited for a buffet but what they’ve got is quite delicious. I’m a big fan of their Chicken 65. It’s always cooked perfectly has the right amount of kick to it. Of course, their buttered chicken is also excellent. I usually get some on a bed of Jasmine rice. I love the Paneer as well, it kinda tastes like tofu to me. Every Indian restaurant should have Biryani and their chicken Biryani is pretty on point.

Wow what a surprise. Tried the chicken vindaloo and was rewarded with waves of flavors. Hot yes but magical.

I’ve only come here for the lunch buffet. Taste-wise, it was pretty good; I’d imagine that ordering dinner here could be very excellent. But, unfortunately, the buffet has an extremely limited(and entirely brown-colored) selection. No spinach or any green vegetables. No rice pudding. Nothing but the most basic curries and other brown-colored meat and veggie dishes. It’s a little depressing eating here.

So after hearing alot of good things about this place, i decided to give it a shot. I was extremely disappointed by the quality and portion size, i ordered a meat biryani and all i got was boiled rice with Bones! There was hardly any meat except one little piece, and when i say little! I mean smaller than my pinky! I payed $ 15 for boiled rice and bones! Im never going to the place again. The biryani was too salty and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I went in there with alot of hopes but unfortunately i wasted my money. Never again.

Very mixed bag. Wife had the chicken tikka masala which was bloody awful. I had the chicken jalfrezi which was bloody great. Naan was very salty. Onion pakora way over-fried with little taste. Curiously, as we were ordering the waiter was figuring out in his head what they actually had available to make in the kitchen. A party of 6 that came in after us tried to order at least 2 things which resulted a strange pause followed by a «we don’t have that». Oh… Carrots. Do try and cut fresh ones. When they’re crinkle cut and soft it does rather give the game away.

My colleague and I were looking for another restaurant when we came across Spice & Curry. We decided to stop in for dinner. S&C is a spacious restaurant that appears to offer an extensive lunch buffet, based on the buffet set up that I saw. We were there for dinner and saw several Middle Eastern families in the restaurant enjoying their dinner. I ordered the Chicken Roast, but was told it was not available. Then I ordered the Tangri Kabob, which I was again told was not available. Finally I ordered the same thing my colleague ordered, the Chicken Tikka Masala which was available. The waiter gave us a glass of water… no ice nor straws were offered. When my colleague ordered a beer, they shared that they did not have cold beer available. One of the waiter’s physically left the restaurant to get us straws… hmmm. Fortunately, the food was amazing. The Spinach Pakora was delicious. The Chicken Tikka Masala entrée with the rice and Nan were wonderfully exotic and tasty. I admit that I had prepared myself for disappointment simply based on the service… but the flavor of the food was pretty fantastic. I will not be returning to Spice & Curry in the future, but will say the food was very satisfying. Cheers!

Some Indian buffets tend to be overloaded with one peppery taste, not so at Spice & Curry, where each individual dish has its own delicious flavor. I have only been here for the lunch buffet(weekdays & weekends), so I can’t review something ordered off the menu. That said, what I have tasted is excellent. The place isn’t fancy — there are plenty of other Indian restaurants that offer more as far as ambiance goes, but the food is really good and that’s ultimately why I go so I’m happy. Price is reasonable, pitchers of water are on the tables — which is good. One funny thing is that the wait staff tends to ask all non-Indian Americans if they want soda as soon as they’re led to the table. I’ve been there many times and this always happens(heard it at other tables too, but not at the tables where Indian diners are). It’s not a bad thing, just one of those funny little things that stick with you. The food itself is 4.5 stars, I would score the restaurant higher, but I do have a few issues with cleanliness. The tablecloths are sometimes soiled — one group leaves and their dirty tablecloth remains(seen it happen more than once). I have also seen them leave the pitcher of water from the previous diners on the table for the next. It may or may not be untouched by the prior diners(most times at least one glass was poured from it by someone from the last group), but a fresh pitcher would be best. In those instances, ask for a fresh tablecloth and a new pitcher of water — the staff are good and quick to comply. The place is always packed, especially during the lunch rush, and on weekends it gets full and stays that way during the brunch /lunch time. So make sure you go early enough to grab a table, check the tablecloth and water — and you’re good to go. Absolutely give it a try — the food really is delish.

Just enjoyed a rather tasty dinner at Spice and Curry, Lamb Vindaloo and some Kashmiri Nan. Both were fantastic. Unfortunately, right before I paid the check I noticed a Roach on the table. Although I’ve heard that most restaurants typically have roach problems from time to time, it was a bit disturbing to see one in the actual dining room… on the table. Hopefully this problem will be a addressed. It’s a shame because I really enjoyed the food.

Not as good as it used to be. The Chicken 65 is still pretty good, but the rest of the dishes were lackluster, and for $ 10.95, it’s kind of a rip-off not to have any meat besides chicken.

Spice & Curry perplexed me. It is definitely not your usual N.C. Indian restaurant. While dining here I felt like I was in California or some other place with a lot more diversity than NC. The décor is minimal but bright, and during lunch they had Indian music videos and film clips playing on a large-screen TV, which helped to liven up the place. At least half of the patrons were Desis/NRIs, which is usually a good sign for any«ethnic» place, but I didn’t like the food as much as I thought I would. The lunch buffet introduced me to a few dishes I had never seen or heard of before. One was curd rice, which is(I looked it up) yogurt rice and a very popular dish in Tamil Nadu. I didn’t care for it too much. Another was a curry called Mirchi Ka Salan, which is evidently popular in Hyderabad. It was basically a light brown goo that I wasn’t crazy about. The sambar, greens with paneer, gulab jamun, and rice pudding were all good, and I overall I found plenty to eat, but the bread was BAD(not fresh and burnt/too thin in parts) and the buffet didn’t offer any pickle(although they did have coconut chutney). I will return at some point though because I’m curious to see what might be offered on other days and because I enjoy trying dishes from regions of India that are usually overlooked or not catered to in the typical Indian restaurant in the US.
