I received a call from Rick, CEO of Zippy Shell, shortly after posting my reviews of my Zippy Shell experience. He inquired about my experience and what led to my poor review of them. I explained essentially everything I have written here and on the delivery review(posted in the Orange County location). He was very empathetic towards my situation and recalled that incident the day of my move as well as he was made aware immediately of the mistake. Apparently they have a 2% ‘mistake’ rate and I just happened to be a lucky one. Rick apologized several times and made it very clear that his company was at fault and wanted to make it right. He gave me an open ended question with«what can we do to make this right?». As I mentioned in my other review, I don’t expect cross country moves to go 100% smoothly, but once a mistake is made, I expect the rest of the move to be tediously monitored. This was not the case for me. As I wrote in my review, Zippy Shell had agreed to compensate me the difference for the movers they cost me to have them sit around and do nothing while the shell was late($ 300). I proposed to Rick that they pay for all my movers both in Durham and in LA. He agreed immediately and promised a check for the remainder of the movers would be sent out to me. He called the very next day to let me know it had been put in the mail. A few hundred bucks doesn’t really matter to me but I felt the open ended question alone spoke volumes with how apologetic he really was. He also recognized where his company went wrong and ‘fixed’ the problem internally. He reported that they are making strides as a whole company to streamline their communication better between warehouse deliveries and customer. I can only hope these changes can improve their customers’ experience. With that said, if you do choose to go with Zippy Shell, make sure you get double/triple check all your dates and times with your coordinator and get it in writing. Feel comfortable with your coordinator and make sure they are responsive to you. Communication is essential! If you’re not, request another coordinator! Also, make sure they lock up your stuff before it leaves your possession! They’re supposed to provide a lock or you bring your own. If something does goes wrong, you can be reassured they take feedback seriously, which cannot be said for a lot of businesses. It is very clear they care about their customers’ experience, their local warehouses, and their company. I am thoroughly impressed with Mr. Rick and his efforts to ‘make things right’.

Zippy Shell was recommended by one of my clients. I am a local Real Estate Broker and she raved about the service. Little did I know my husband would want to by a new home this year and a month later I found myself needing to call Zippy. Jerrie was very professional and attentive to scheduling and the delivery drivers were pleasant. I will recommend Zippy to my clients in th future!

The customer service was great! They give you an individual to speak with and coordinate your move who is the point of contact throughout the process. They were able to work with me around a price that fit my moving needs since we were only moving 3 hours away, but had a week in between our move out and move in dates. The drivers of the shell trailers called to make sure we were home before delivering and to make sure we were done loading before pick up today. We have yet to see what the delivery will be on the back end, but by how things are going, I’m sure it will be great! The best part about Zippy is they deliver door to door automatically and include insurance and a weatherproof container system. Communication, communication, communication — so important and gets this company 5 stars!
