My fiancé and I personally loved this place when we were on our way home from the beach. We both got subs, which to be honest were somewhat bland, but all they needed was a little cheese and they would have been perfect. But the service was amazing! Very friendly, very fast service. Everyone we saw was greeted and treated like a friend as soon as they walked in the door. The man at the counter even ran out after us and gave us free slushies, which was odd considering we were very quiet and kept to ourselves. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be visiting this sub shop again!

I found this place very bland. The chicken salad was literally just chicken with mayo on it. It would have been so much better with some onion and celery chopped up into it. My husband described his steak and cheese as «meh», but 2 stars because my mom’s salad actually had fresh veggies, which is somewhat hard to find at a lot of the local sandwich shops. I might give it another go with a salad, but I probably won’t be ordering a sandwich from here again.

Terrific local pizza /sub place. I order once a week and its always great. The owners are also community minded donating time and food to Duxbury High School sports. Nice people to do business with.

I make a trip to Benchwarmer’s a point of my travel home. I’ve lived in some great sandwich cities, New York, Philly, Chicago. Nowhere have I found a steak and cheese as good as the one at Benchwarmer. Granted — perhaps those other places didn’t have a long sand beach to walk down while you enjoyed your sandwich to the cries of jealous seagulls. Regardless, the sandwich holds up against just about any city sub.

Speaking strictly about the pizza, Benchwarmers is a winner. Thin crust, great sauce, and realy tasty Italian sausage. Best NY style pizza in the area.

I might be biased, as a friend of mine works here, but I really enjoy Benchwarmers. My turkey sandwich was delicious and was just the right size. Service was great, the owner is awesome, she made good conversation with us and was pleasant. Only thing: don’t eat inside the restaurant. Take your subs to the beach or something, because the seating inside is a bit cramped and uncomfortable. Overall, thumbs up on Benchwarmer Sub Shop!

Having frequented Benchwarmers Sub Shop over the years, today will have been our last. We picked up cheeseburger subs on the way to the beach only to find that the subs were cold and initially we thought they had forgotten the burgers… we had to search through the bread before we found a little meat… not sure if there was any cheese. So basically, for $ 9.03 you got a sub roll with a smattering of lettuce and tomato. The sub roll has also changed from the last time and was not a typical sub roll. In my opinion, Benchwarmers Sub Shop does not warrant any stars!

One of the best cheese steak subs I’ve ever had!

I tried Benchwarmers for the first time and was not impressed. The tables were dirty and very cramped and the quality of the food was not good. I ordered a «chicken cutlet» sub and what I got was two small chicken fingers(obviously the mass-market frozen variety) in a close-to-stale sub roll with a spoonful of canned sauce and cheese that was barely melted. I would not recommend it as there are other options nearby if you are hungry.

Upon being begged to try it again by Bob S. I did so yesterday. I stopped in for a slice and a steach and cheese. It was a tad better than my recollection. The bread and pizza tasted fresher than my memories held. It’s hard to respect a place selling pizza that doesn’t make it’s own dough. Still pretty mediocre. I bumped them to 3 stars but they still keep their fail rating. Head to Duxbury Pizza if you can make it there instead.

I’ve been going here for years and I think I’ve always ordered a Ham and Cheese sub. It’s always good. Then again, it’s really hard to F*** up a ham and cheese sandwich.
