Love it here. But kitchen seems more interested in the take out window. Instead of bar and tables. Staff works extra hard. But something is lacking. Probably management

We stopped in for dinner after attending the fair. The service was fast and friendly. My wife ordered the chicken parmesan and I ordered the veal parmesan. The chicken was OK and the veal was a little over cooked. We were both disappointed in the sauce. It was completely bland and tasteless. The red sauce turned us both off to the possibility of a return visit.

One of the house specialties is eggplant served with prosciutto, mozzarella, and basil. I requested that they make the same tower of food but with veal rather than egg plant. The chef gladly obliged and it was absolutely delicious. I wish I had taken a photo. Our server, Tracy, was fun, efficient, and made us feel like we were visiting her home.

Awful food and awful service. Rude people. Never eating there. Found a fly in my pasta

Ok, so the pizza is pretty decent, so it’s nice for takeout when I’m not in the mood to cook. But most of the rest is pretty«meh». Mamas«special red sauce», well, it really isn’t. I was hoping the homemade noodles would be a cut above, but no dice. I have found the service to be spotty, even when it’s not very busy. Hostesses act like you are interrupting their important conversations. Maybe if you have little kids and don’t care much about flavor you will like it here. I’ll stick to takeout pizza.

I have been to their Carver(LUV!) and Plymouth locations, too. I went there for lunch recently & sat at the bar with my girl friend. We both had the eggplant Parmesan & wine. It was very nice and comfortable; the bar tender was right on it, and the food was delicious and hot. I only wish I had their recipe. For what it is, my experience was really a 5-star. But it’s not super-fancy or necessarily gourmet. But a great place to go for when you just want to get together with a friend & have a reasonably-priced meal & good by-the-glass wine selection. Oh — I forgot to mention, the portions are big too! :)

Call me crazy but I enjoy my pasta with a decent amount of sauce. I’m Italian and that’s how I like it. In my opinion, at Mamma Mia, they don’t put enough sauce on their food. If you request extra– they charge you 50 cents for it. What do you get for an extra fifty cents? Like a big soup bowl of it or something? No. An amount so miniscule… I wonder if they don’t actually give you any extra sauce… but just charge you 50 cents to punish you for asking, lol. Well here is my 2 cents– Maybe it’s just me, but when I am paying for a couple dinners and drinks and politely request a little extra sauce, on food that needs it, I think it would make people happier if you don’t charge them extra for a tiny little bit of sauce that the food was lacking in the first place. I mean, just put enough damn sauce on the damn food & I won’t have to ask for more. And not to mention, if you aren’t a «regular» here… you are basically ignored. Our wait person was far too busy chatting up a storm with the apparently«regular» local people, or people she knew, or whatever — to check on us– and we had an issue with our food, take a guess what it was– not to be redundant but, yeah– not enough sauce. She never did ask if we needed any grated cheese which we had to go find on our own– or if everything was okay after she served us, not to mention, our drinks were empty. Too busy chatting. When she did finally come over we ordered more drinks and she took away the utensils. When she returned 5 minutes later, plates still sitting there, she asked if we were still working on our food? Yeah lady, I’m eating it with my hands. Just irritated with the whole experience… «sauce fee». terrible service & I’m sure much to my dining companion’s chagrin– I mentioned several times on the way home that I wished we just stayed home instead. Hey Mamma Mia, was the extra 50 cents you charged me worth the unhappy customers and crummy review?

To start and give myself a little credibility… I have been in the restaurant business for over a decade. I also frequent all of the Mama Mia’s locations and have lunch or dinner at one of them at least once a week and have for 5 years. Hanover for pizza takeout, Kingston for a cocktail while waiting for pizza take out, Plymouth for bar lunches or sit down dinner and Carver for sit down dinners. I personally have been eating at the Kingston location for 28 years. We are obviously loyal fans. I have a hard time writing this-but considering how quiet the dining room was last night and how disappointing our experience was-maybe they need a little constructive criticism from someone in the business. I have only been to the Marshfield location a few of times since it opened and each time it goes downhill. The pizza is always good. No complains there. The staff is always friendly and helpful. My big problems are with the bar and the sauté cook. The bar is too often out of signature drink ingredients. For a recent example-last night they gave our large party the signature drink menu and almost ALL of the items were made with apple cider. After we all took time to chose which cider drink to try-the waitress came over to tell us that the bar was out of cider. Really? Then either run to Star Market and pick up a few gallons or stop pushing your signature drink menu. If apple cider is your signature drink of the month-shouldn’t someone be keeping track of its inventory? Next-and most frustrating… whomever is making the sauté items on Tues/Weds/Thurs nights needs some serious re-training. The garlic in the only 3 sauté dishes we ordered tasted rancid. The sauces themselves were watery and other than bad garlic-tasteless. These are dishes that are ordered with regularity at Plymouth and Carver. All 3 of our chicken and seafood dishes were inedible-but as we were being taken out we decided not to embarrass the invitee by making an issue out of it in front of the group. I LOVE the other locations and will continue to frequent them, but so far the Marshfield location is disappointing and forgettable.

I have been going here for many many years and since they moved I feel like the quality has really gone down hill the last time I went here was about a month ago and I ordered the chicken parm eggplant and meatball trio it was generally okay the sauce was actually pretty good however the eggplant was soggy but it was not the food that made the service bad it was the amount of flies in the restaurant. There must have been at least 10 flies lying around my table of 10 the whole entire time we were going out for my grandmother’s 86th birthday and were constantly shooing flies away. when we asked the waitress why there were so many flies she responded that they keep the back door to the kitchen open I am almost positive that would not be okay with the board of health it was disgusting trying to eat and having hovering over my food. It was the second time I went there and had a fly problem I definitely will not be going back again.

It was our first time at this restaurant and we were excited to dine there and to listen to the phenomenal singer, Tony Cerbo. We had a great high top in the lounge area and the waitress was really wonderful as she explained some of the menu items and never hurried us. We began with the Chicago Pizza which I thought would be a deep dish but it was still on the thin side, but tasty. Our entrees which consisted of eggplant and veal parmigiana were good although my eggplant was somewhat undercooked and rather thick. The surrounding patrons were so friendly and positive that the evening became a really special one! We look forward to returning to listen to Tony Cerbo and to try a few more menu items.

I dont know what happened to this place! Used to be great, has a decent reputation. I guess the other locations are decent. Took us FOREVER to get seats at the bar, which the bartender kept making space for people she obviously knew. She ended up waiting on us, and the two women bartenders were all over the place. not nice, and looked so unprofessional and dysfunctional. My salad came out with my entrée, the behind the bar area was a mess and the blonde was ADD. I overheard other people saying that she looked brand new. And when I asked, she said shes been there since the begining. The red-haired woman was fake and mean. She had no personality and my drink she made me was HORRIBLE. So horrible, that I gave it back and asked for a beer. The one other time we ate there, we sat in the dining room, and our server was clueless. Food was terrible. Tasteless and cold. The manager, a very young looking girl wasnt very pleasant, didnt offer to correct it or remove it, or apologize. She was sweaty and clearly overwhelmed.

This is a long overdue review being written. I am literally baffled as to why the previous reviews for this place are so negative !! My boyfriend recently moved to marshfield right down the street from here. We have visited every restaurant in this section of town and it has gotten to the point where I no longer waste my time going ANYWHEREBUTHERE. Every item i have tried(mamas chicken wings, buffalo tenders, steak tips, all types of the pizza, specials like swordfish) have all RULED. always fresh always quick. The bartender Donna is a doll! She makes the best planters punch I have ever had hands down it’s honestly and truly delectable and refreshing !!! We are new regz at this joint and i don’t see it getting old anytime soon !!!

Consistently good food. We get pizza take out often(love their margherita pizza) and also eat in the bar area sometimes. It can be packed and hart to park, especially on the weekends. The saltimbocca is delicious! Expect a wait and sometimes slow service but great food.

Updating my review for the new location in brant rock. Haven’t dined in yet but the take out is still just as good. Will continue to get take out and venture inside to eat sometime when it’s not crazy busy. Parking can be a pita for take out, though.

This place is always busy! Not too crazy about the dinner dishes. The pizza has been constantly good but the dishes I’ve had were mediocre at best. Drinks are well priced and good. The waitstaff at the bar are pretty nice. The bar area is spacious but a little too dark for my liking. Its a great place to meet with friends for a few drinks.

We are just leaving here and are beyond disappointed! We love all the mamma mia’s locations but the service we just received was unacceptable. My mothers dish came out while everyone else was almost finished eating! we stopped the manager on her way by to tell her and she was not very friendly or accommodating. Also, my pregnant sister ordered shrimp primavera and she only got ONE shrimp on her dish! We are normally very understanding customers but nobody apologized for the ridiculous delay on my moms dinner or the complete lack of attentive service– the staff knew that we were disappointed but they were afraid to apologize, which made the situation even worse– we were not looking for anything removed from the bill, we just wanted an acknowledgment and apology! Very disappointing and we will definitely not be back.
