We arrived at five. Not too busy, checked out coats and were seated immediately. As we were seated we were greeted by jessica, she ran through the specials, and took out drink order. We decided to skip an appetizer and just order out meals. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu and my wife ordered the filet. First the chicken was served on a bed of rice pilaf and was very tasty. Nice creamy sauce over the top added a nice creamy texture. The filet was cooked perfectly and was served with some mushrooms and onions sauted this was also accompanied by some steak fries. Jessica was very attentive and made casual conversation. She was spot on with the water refills and anything else we might have needed. Pleasant experience and if I am ever in town, will definitely come back again. Tip, come early as we were leaving … Amazingly 40 minutes later, the place was beginning to pick up. The views while dining are very pretty. I would recommend to stop in if in town and give it a go.

The brunch here is by far the best in the city. Great variety and fresh take on classics. Their filet and cod for dinner is wonderful too. Love the huge bar area… so welcoming after dinner to sit, have a grass hopper, and listen to music.

The view is spectacular from the entire dining area. When I say spectacular, I mean it rivals some of the best restaurant views I have ever experienced. The service was excellent and the manager even accomodated our large party’s use of appetizer coupons. I’m sorry to say the quality of the ribeye was not excellent, but the prices were fair. Overall, I was pleased with the experience.

What a wonderful evening with the ribeye cooked to perfection, the bartender with real skill, and our server, Patty, the right mix of fun and professional. This is a great place

In Iowa City for business, I wanted a road trip and dinner and Timmerman’s fit the bill for a destination. I was seated at a four top facing the lake /river even though I was alone. My waitress was friendly and chatty. I ordered an Iowa pork chop with baked potato, side salad, and a Tanqueray martini. The pork chop was succulent and perfectly cooked with a sweet side of simple apple sauce. The bill came to $ 25. Twenty. five. dollars. It is possible to pay that much for the martini alone in Manhattan. I was charmed by the whole 1960s Middle America charm. Definitely recommend.

One of our favorites. The view of Lake Lacoma and the Mississippi are unmatched. Owners Mark and Gary are hard working local boys who worked their way up from being service staff there. The New York strip is excellent. Service is top notch. Cloth napkins, yes. Heavy tableware. And dare we mention Dubuque area’s sassiest bartender, rene? Ambience is a throwback to the rat pack era. Love it.

Had good meal with our sons celebrating our 45th anniversary. From the baked Kasseri to the Oyster Rockefeller for appetizers… ribeye and mahi mahi all the way to New York Cheesecake and Lemon Marscapone the taste was great, presentation eye appealing and service by Jodi icing on the cake, so to speak. Surprisingly living within a 30 minute drive it was our first experience and not our last. If you want the prime rib come early!

I went here for mother’s day with my family. The service was stellar, great view, and huge selection. There was a constant long line to get to the buffet but you don’t have to wait too long. The prime rib was terrible the last 2 times I’ve gone here though. Both times it was cold and tough, impossible to chew through. They need to get better cuts of meat. Definitely make reservations and get a seat near the window.

First time here on Valentines Day. The first thing they brought us was water and a slice of delicious corn bread. We ordered the small portion of onion rings. The batter was light and crisp. We asked for ranch, but came with a cheese type sauce. It was so good we didn’t need the ranch. We had our salads, which was pretty standard, and shared a bowel of french onion soup. It was one of the best we’d had. Soooo good. They served crusty rolls with it, which were also good. My husband ordered the sweetheart special, which was a 10 ounce sirloin and 1 lobster tail. I had shrimp and steak. His lobster was good, my shrimp lightly breaded and fried, which was also good. The steaks were of fantastic quality, but found them to be very under seasoned which left me feeling disappointed. I always say if the steak is good enough, I don’t need steak sauce, but found myself asking for the A1. My steak also arrived undercooked. Ordered it medium and arrived medium rare. She took it back and the cook threw it back on the grill and came back cooked to the correct temperature. The waitress was on her toes and did a good job, despite how busy they were. I did however, have to wait about 10 minutes for a refill on my pop. All in all a good experience, we will be back, but I will not be ordering a steak for the lack of seasoning.

Absolutely amazing, classy and beautiful experience. Great atmosphere, service and food to die for. The staff is wonderful! You can tell they love their job. Can’t wait to go back. The views from the dining room are breathtaking. There’s a reason they’ve been in business so long. They CARE!

I am so HAPPY that I got to eat at Timmerman’s again last weekend! This place is really fabulous! I was hesitant to try the Prime Rib again because the last time I had it the au jus and piece of meat were both very salty, but I am a PRIMERIBJUNKIE(there, I said it!) so I just HAD to go there… and I am so glad that I did. This time the Prime Rib was on point. Sublime, really. Everything was perfectly delicious and the service was very good. Each trip to Timmerman’s is an experience.

Blast from the past supper club setting with great view of the Mississippi. Consistent quality fare that is reliably good though sometimes overly salty. Good service.

We went here for Valentines day because it is the nicest place in the Dubuque area there is to take your special girl. The waitress staff all make you feel like your worth a million dollars and you matter and the food is amazing. One of the specials was swordfish so I got it cause I have never had it before and it was great. There steaks are the best around and the ice crème drinks afterwards are well awesome, can actually taste the booze. Our bill was $ 88.00 which hey is well worth it for a nice night out. Oh and Jody got steak and shrimp was was awesome.

Definitely the old supper club look. They have the original advertisement and menu from the 1960’s on display. I wish they would remodel to all the mod 60’s look and get rid of the gazebo and lattice. Food was average, but the view amazing of the city. Book a reservation before dark.

Staying in galena we decided to head out for a sunset meal. Food was very average. The wife liked the fried chicken. Our server wasn’t great. Views were good. We saw some bald eagles. I don’t think we’ll be heading back.

I have been visiting the Galena Illinois area now for many years. Timmerman’s Supper Club in East Dubuque has been on the radar to try for some time now. I enjoy the experience of «Supper Clubs», generally dark rooms serving large portions of meat and potatoes. This place did not disappoint! Huge glass windows frame the Mississippi River with the lights of Dubuque Iowa in the near background. The view is one of a kind. The«Supper Club» vibe is what this place is about. People congregate at the bar before dinner for a Manhatten or two. They have smiles on their faces and enjoy conversation prior to being called to fullfill their reservation time for dinner. To explain… the bar is a meandering oval shape… very large. No matter where you sit you have a view of everyone. Very cool. I had the Prime Rib and the GF had a Rib Eye Steak. Both cooked as ordered… medium rare! The mood at your table is unique. Your eye continues to scan the food, your drinks, the movement in the dining area, the sound of conversation and the subtle clatter of forks knives and platters. Then you remember the view. Take a look!

Great service, great view, OK food. I arrived Sunday at noon without a reservation and was seated within a few minutes. I had one of the best tables in the house, along the window overlooking the bluff and the Mississippi River. I was greeted by my waitress before I even sat down. She took my drink order and explained the Timmerman’s legendary Sunday breakfast buffet. I visited the buffet and had water and coffee on the table awaiting my return. Nice! The food was plentiful but standard fare for a buffet. The scrambled eggs were cooked properly but had a lot of salt in them. The bacon tray had both crispy and limp bacon. There was an omelet station and a ham & roast beef carving station. Plus a wide selection of salads, fruit, and desserts. No one would go hungry here. I am looking forward to a return visit to try some regular menu items. I give Timmerman’s Supper Club my clean plate award!

Well, Timmerman’s is unlike anything we have in California where I come from(that I know of) so I don’t really have anything to compare it to. It seems like it was«the place» to be back in the day, when men donned smoking jackets and the ladies wore beehive hairdos and white gloves. Now you have your modern-day Americans sitting around in jeans, their Sunday best, and even biker leather but I can see why the place is still popular. While visiting we decided to take my future mother-in-law to Sunday brunch, I learned that in Dubuque this is the place to go to if you want to earn big brownie points with the in-laws. But seriously, the brunch was funky yet good, I can’t say that I’ve ever seen so many jello salads in one place since I was a Mormon living in Utah but the food was delicious and at under $ 10.00 a person how can you beat that? My future brother and sister-in-law took my fiancé and I there for a regular Monday night dinner and it was fantastic again. We started out with drinks at the bar which were good and the service was great. I see below that somebody had an issue with the prime rib, honestly I have to say it was probably the best I’ve ever had in my life, «like buttah.» I didn’t understand what people meant when they talked about prime rib melting in your mouth until I had dinner there. The view of course speaks for itself, they could use a little update inside but with the view outside who cares?
