Worst service. Our appetizer came within 5 minutes of placing our order. The waitress never poured out wine. The food was good it need to work on these service.

Wonderful restaurant. We ate out on the terrace next to the fountain. Lovely, affable waitress(Debbie) who was very knowledgable and friendly. Fantastic service. Come here. if you have the chance

Very nice restaurant. We ate in the tavern on a Saturday night. Korean ribs and a burger, shrimp cocktail was excellent. Nice service. On the expensive side.

Enjoyed everything about this meal. Gorgeous setting, friendly service and great food. We started with the arugula & asparagus salad and the smokey blue cheese from Rogue Creamery. My wife loved the salad and I really enjoyed the cheese, which comes with generous portions of crostini, local honey and apple compote. For dinner, we had the fettucine with rabbit sausage and the seared scottish salmon, also both excellent.(Make sure you’re hungry if you order the entrée-sized portion of fettucine!) We supplemented dinner with a half-bottle of Pouilly Fume. I thought it was nice that they offered half bottles. As it happened, we had just come from a visit to a nearby winery, and splitting a whole bottle of wine would have been aggressive. The half bottle was the perfect amount for us and we made it last through dinner. The restaurant itself is very pleasant. Thought it’s a bit cramped in some parts, the patrons are all friendly and the wait staff was unfailingly friendly and polite. Attire is «smart casual.» I did not feel out of place with a nice pair of jeans and brown shoes.

This place was great… its upscale but cozy, intimate, & relaxed. The food was great. The menu is limited but more than adequate. We ordered martini’s– very nice, fish — superb, and dessert– amazing. It’s pricey dinner for 4 was $ 250.

My husband and I went there tonight for dinner. I wanted to bring half of my dinner home for my daughter. When we opened it, we saw that the side dish was missing. I called them, and they insisted on delivering fresh side dishes to our home. The meal was incredible, and to top it off, the service was even better.

Excellent dinner. If you are lucky enough to get a reservation– you might want to request a table downstairs in «the tavern». Although it was the end of April, it was still quite chilly. They had both fireplaces going, which just added to the overall charm. The cuisine was delicious– and the service was extremely attentive. We had the wedge salad(the Chef here uses real Maytag Blue Cheese). Yum! For entrées we had the Scottish Salmon, and their famous meatloaf. For dessert our server suggested the date cake with salted caramel gelato. It was so good, I found myself spooning up every last drop of gelato. On our way out, the manager took a moment to ask about our experience and we made sure to compliment the cuisine and the service.

I went to 1770 house for the first time and I was very glad I did. It was my Husband birthday and I wanted it to be special. It was so charming and decorated beautifully for the holiday. The menu was limited but the steak was outstanding. I would recommend it and definitely go back again.

A cozy yet elegant little gem! We dined in The Tavern, although the menu items are exactly the same as in the other dining room. Everything we ordered was delicious — most of the stuff we ordered was classic American and they fortunately didn’t mess anything up! There’s a lot of history behind the building, which adds to the uniqueness of the place! And they were featured on «Barefoot Contessa» so how bad can that be ;)

The food is good! I was there two years ago and the food was much better. The tavern is the way to go, the 1770 meatloaf is very good! We stayed at the inn, much to be desired. We brought our 4 month old baby and the heat was very spotty(cold for an adult). The breakfast in the morning was very nice!

just ate there and had their prix fixe. this was the second time I had been there. Like last year, I ordered the chicken dish as my entrée. And again like last year, I was disappointed. The chicken is bland, tough and flavorless. The spinach was too salty and the mash was forgettable. My partner had the fish and was wowed! My suggestion is — if you’re gonna serve chicken do something with it, instead of just serving a piece of meat that has no personality! Think it’s my last time eating there and I’m sad about it. BTW dessert was a letdown as well. on the bright side the salads were excellent.

Over rated, over priced. We were seated by the back door, don’t let them sit you there. So funny how you may not — have the meatloaf upstairs??? I guess it’s whom you know, wink, wink. The young hostess was dressed for the Pow Wow and walked by 10 times to see how far along we were. If you want to make your place feel la de da then treat your guests, all your guests well. Don’t sit a sweet couple in front of the main door. So wrong. P. S. the food is nothing to write home about. Oh and can not believe how many people were on their phones. Sad.

Ive been coming here for years! My favorite waiter Carl left years ago! But service has not slipped! Duffy & Trefeny have been a delight. Excellent friendly smiling service! Always excellent recommendations, and inside tips about what to order or drink. Comfortable & Cozy atmosphere! I always feel like I’m at home here. The Lamb is not to be missed if its on the menu. The Kale Salad is Heaven. Fluke Crudo is local fresh melt in your mouth sweet fresh fish. Lovely combination. The new winter addition of Chicken Parmesan is cooked like a schnitzel with a yummy marinara sauce and plenty of cheese!!! YuM The Burger i have voted the best in New York! Secret combinations of meat make up this melt in your mouth burger. They are famous for their meatloaf which delivers Moms best version. Potato Mash and gravy to top off the perfection. The only lack luster here are the side dish of spinach which is bland boring and tasteless really! And the manager who seems to be new this year is arrogant, unfriendly and rigid. Sadly he has no connection with the customers. He never smiles, he walks around with his nose in the air, and quite frankly puts a friendly cozy restaurant in jeopardy of becoming a place people will not want to dine in. He literally makes you feel uncomfortable. Please put a smile on that face or kick him to the street! Tell him to lose the suit and his unhappy face! Not appetizing.

Very good, but expensive as hell. But all things are in E. Hampton. So if you want to eat out, you kind of have to bite the bullet and pay a little bit extra to enjoy what you’re eating. The guests are stuffy and beaugie, but what can you expect… you’re in the Hamptons. Don’t make the same mistake as me and dress casually. I liked the sea scallops with black rice over the stripped bass, but both were good.

This place has got to be THEPLACE to be… in the Hampton’s, if not the world, hands down. It has that quiet, quaint, breathe of fresh air type feel/exactly what we needed coming from NYC. Lets just say the 1770 House does not disappoint in any aspect. From the garden, to the rooms, to the service, to the restaurant(which is in a league of its own), my girlfriend and I couldn’t get over this place and immediately decided to book another stay before we even checked out. That says it all. Anyone looking to make reservations here and/or the restaurant, please don’t hesitate, just do it. Make reservations at The Tavern downstairs, and order the Burger, Meat loaf, and pray that they have the Fluke Taretar that night. All thanks to the phenomenal Chef, Michael! Thanks for a great meal! Also, big thanks to Randye!

The 1770 house is an Inn and restaurant. This review is for the restaurant. Its a very old building(dating from 1663?), which gives it terrific charm. The main restaurant has different areas you can sit in, so if its not terribly crowded, walk around to find your favorite room. There’s a rickety old staircase that leads to a cellar bar — very cool! Be aware you probably won’t get a cell signal down there, and there’s no TV. There’s only 3 – 4 seats at the bar, very small, but its fully stocked and if they don’t have what you want downstairs they can get it upstairs. There’s also several small tables for dining here as well. The food is very very good. Its pricey, but its also East Hampton. The service has always been terrific. The burger is absolutely fantastic, easily one of the best burgers in all of East Hampton. Like every other East Hampton place, its mobbed in season. Off season, its one of my favorite places to grab a burger and relax in the basement tavern. Street parking can be a challenge in season, so be prepared to walk a bit.

This is my new favorite restaurant(and hotel) in the Hamptons. Tavern– downstairs, it was a real speakeasy during prohibition– legend has it tunnels connected the basement tavern to other key spots in the town of east Hampton so the residents could come and drink without getting caught. Intriguing. The food is equally as intriguing with a decadent burger(get it with greyeure and Carmelized onions) the local fluke tartar was delicate and filled with flavor, topped with caviar, and the seared foie gras was perfectly done– I recommend having it as a dessert! Sweet but not too sweet. Fun ambiance down there too, I was concerned it would be claustrophobic with tiny windows but it was not at all! Now for the inn– the bedroom was big and nicely decorated with high ceilings and a big beautiful marble bathroom with excellent water pressure, rain shower and handheld. King sized bed with crisp linens. Truly the best of both worlds– authentic character with all top of the line modern amenities. Possibly the best part was the Innkeeper Randye. She is so charming, has wonderful recommendations of places to go, things to do and eat. She knows her audience well and tailors her recommendations to each party specifically. Getting to spend time with her was a major perk in our trip– she’s so much fun! We can’t wait to go back.

1770 is the real deal. Came here for restaurant week with my wife and father-in-law last weekend, so we got the nice deal for a prix fixe. The atmosphere here is fantastic and intimate, and really leads to an amazing dinner. +Atmosphere Beautiful. 1770 House looks like it was an old Colonial house which turned into a bed and breakfast of sorts, but for elegant dinners. The seating is spaced well, and it’s lit by smaller candles. The place exudes swag and a true comfort about itself. +Drink: Wine. Wine. Wine. Choose your poison, they have some great choices. +Apps: I got the 1770 House salad with a nice vinaigrette and vegetables, and it was delicious. I’m very critical of salads and their dressings, and 1770 did it right with a very nice, rich vinaigrette. +Entrée: Pasta, which was fantastic. It was hot, garnished perfectly, and had the right amount of flavor and a little bit of a kick, which I like. Believe it or not, even the Parmesan cheese tasted fantastic! THECHEESE. +Post-meal: Cappuccino. They did it well– sugar stick, strong, and hot. A perfect ending to any meal. What’s killer for this place is their prices: they’re without a doubt outrageous. Not only is it the Hamptons, but it’s also in a beautiful setting, which you pay for! We came here because we got the nice Restaurant Week deal, and I’m glad we got to experience it!
