I had to go to T-Mobile today during lunch, and decided to get a quick bite to eat; you know kills two birds with one stone. I needed something quick as I had to get back to work, but I hate crossing the Camp Creek Parkway because of the horrendous lunch-hour traffic. This limited my lunch options to the south side of the freeway. Taco Bell and Popeye’s were easy to eliminate as both are inferior substitutes for Moe’s Southwest Grill and KFC respectively. I did not have time to try the Ultimate Bar and Grill and bar food is usually disappointing. The hotels nearby also probably offered food, but it is always overpriced. This Is It! BBQ& Seafood looked appealing, but I was not sure what the pricing, food quality, and wait time would be on a whim. This left me with The Big Apple Bagels. I have to admit, I did not know this was a chain when I walked in, and thus it lost some charm, but they did serve lunch and served me pretty quickly. I have to say that for a place in south Atlanta, it is in immaculate shape. I ordered the Mediterranean Veg-out sandwich combo. In hindsight, I may have tried a different sandwich, as the bagels were a little dry and they put onions in this sandwich. It was still a good sandwich just not an amazing one. The nice part about the combo is you can get 3 mini muffins in place of chips. I absolutely recommend this option as the muffins are phenomenal. I tried three different flavors and they were all delicious. Expect to pay about $ 8 for a lunch combo. If there price point was $ 1 – 2 less for lunch, I would probably be frequenting this place more often, but I might stop by for some more muffins. Overall I would rate this place about 3.5 stars, but I am feeling generous so I will round up to 4 stars.

This is all you need to know about Big Apple Bagels. Do they have any locations in New York? SURE! Where you ask? Marcy, NY. Marcy, NY? Never heard of it? I can’t blame you… it’s in the middle of nowhere near Utica. Never heard of Utica? I understand… I haven’t found a good bagel in Atlanta. A reminder of that came the other day at work when someone brought in a bunch of overpriced disgusting Einstein Bagels. Nasty. This place is no better than Einstein. Oh, don’t tell me Goldbergs either. Yeah, it’s a step up from Einstein, but come on. Ess-A-Bagel…Absolute…H&H…come to Atlanta, please. Even toasted, these bagels were soft. They were also stark white. Strange. Even our«everything» bagel was stark white. Ever see a stark white everything bagel? Speaking of stark white… customer service? When I walked in there it was like they’ve seen a ghost. Am I really that white??? I was literally just stared at… no ‘can I help you’, ‘what would you like to order’…nothing. Just stares. I’m sorry for interrupting your day, but I’m here for some bagels, can anyone help me with that request? After I told him the order, he was still obviously shocked and disgusted by my appearance and said in an annoyed way ‘ah…what did you want to order again?’ «What did you want to order again» were the only words I heard during this visit besides barely getting the price out of him. After they made their«eggs poured out of a bag and microwaved» bagel sammy for me, I was handed the bag with a look of indifference in the«cook’s» eyes because obviously the shock of my ugly ass was still floating throughout the store. At least their day had nowhere to go but up after I left the store, consider it a favor.
