i would say the comics you have to pick, if you don’t know there work then it is a gamble. I recently went to see ralphie may, which was good but not as good as I expected. as far as the club goes, the waitstaff does an excellent job. I can remember when the previous owner ran the place you would wait forever for service. now there are plenty of staff and they are on there game.

This club has a wonderful atmosphere with some top level comedians visiting periodically. I’ve never had a bad experience at the Comedy Connection and the current owners seem to be progressing on the quality of booking. Looking forward to coming back.

Wow, what a great place to see a Comedy show! Seats were first come, first serve for the 12⁄31 Jim Norton set. The line moved quickly and the bouncer was very un-bouncer like, very friendly and courteous. The seats weren’t jam packed like other comedy venues. I was sitting next to the largest dude in the place and everyone had plenty of room to move around. We were near the front, but looking around, there wasn’t a bad seat in the house. Service was incredibly good. We had 4 or 5 drinks each and the waitress never let us run out. The food is basic finger food and Sisco frozen apps, which is OK if you need a bite to get by. Forget Boston, I’m coming here from now on.

I love the Comedy Connection If you have a night off come to the Connection & you’re assured a quality comedy experience. The shows are top notch. The staff is professional & dedicated to maintaining the best comedy environment possible; for both performers & audience alike. The club is an excellent mix of nationally recognized acts & rising regional talent. Friday nights provide an excellent bargain. See the 8pm show & you can stick around for the 10pm Hardcore Show! There are occasional Groupons that you can take advantage of. Keep your eyes out for those! If you’re a foodie, I recommend eating fresh caviar out of a fish’s cloaca. Suck it right out. Chew it & swallow! But they don’t serve that dish at the connection… that’s just a personal recommendation from me to you! The menu is satisfying & promptly delivered. But there are no exotic fufu dishes. The location is convenient, right off the freeway, & parking is ample. The RI Connection is the home of a strong comedy community where lovers of laughter regularly gather. It is a staple of the New England comedy scene & unparalleled in the access it grants. Want some quality time with your favorite funny people? Come see why The Comedy Connection is second to none!

I have been here numerous times and each time the comedians are obviously a little different so do your research before to make sure it is the type of jokes you like. Example: I am sick of the pot smoking jokes so I check out who is coming and pick based on that. Last night I was so pleased with the comedian, Leonard Outz, he was hilarious! The opening host I had seen 6 months ago when I went there and all of his jokes were the same so just be aware you may have a lot of repeats in the beginning if you frequent this place. They then had another comedian before the main act and he was great! If you are looking to just get away from the stresses in life, why not go to this comedy club for a few hours? The prices are reasonable as they are always on groupon and the drinks are excellent if you are looking for those fun, fruity drinks or tasty martinis. Had the pretzel martini and the expresso martini, both tasted just as described and they aren’t weak drinks at all. For $ 9 each not a bad deal and you get 2 drinks free with the groupon! The venue is basic inside, seats are not very comfortable but that’s not what you are there for, the entertainment is great, parking is plentiful, and the drinks are perfect. I can’t comment on the food because we ordered the buffalo chicken pizza but they brought it to the wrong table, we thought the waitress just forgot, when it was on the bill she immediately got the manager(wasn’t necessary as we weren’t upset, how could we care? We just laughed and had a great time no need to sweat the small stuff). They had given it to the wrong table and that table just ate it haha! He immediately gave us a voucher for a free app which I thought was a really nice gesture. Definately will be returning soon!

Great comedy club! Seating is tight, but the tickets are inexpensive. There is a full bar, pub food, and a variety of acts — from big names to up and coming locals — plus special shows, too! Definitely a different and fun night out!

The Comedy Connection is a great place to escape a run of the mill night out and experience some great comedy. The Connection features top notch A-listers, but also spotlights up and coming local comics. The Connection is owned by two life long Rode Islanders, and these guys know what they’re doing. They’re always on site for all of the live acts and are eager to ensure you have a great experience. They have a great pub food menu and a slew of beers on tap. They also make great use of the venue when comedians aren’t playing — for instance, every Tuesday is poker night. All in all, you won’t find a better comedy club in Rhode Island.

I have been to clubs in CT, MA, NY, CO, CA, NV, TX, FL and RI. Having lived in most of those places. The Comedy Connection is one of the best clubs in the North East. They bring in the best names in comedy to Rhode Island;(saw Dave Attell in June there) and are a strong presence in the comedy club scene. The building is very cool as it was a former bank, and before the show the comics actually wait in what was the bank’s vault. Lucky for us, they break this vault open each show with hilarity and comic genius. The staff members are excellent. The drinks are delivered quickly, and the food comes out pretty fast as well. If you are looking for 5 star food, I would not go to a comedy club, but if you are looking for some tasty treats to go with your beverage of choice, then the Comedy Connection has some great meals on their menu. The wings and nachos are great for only under $ 10. One person in our party went with the hummus and pita chips for a healthier option. The serving staff is actually really good at maintaining a low profile during the show as to not take away any attention towards the stage. The price of the tickets is amazing considering you are paying about the same as you would for movie tickets, and you get LIVE entertainment; and are able to have your adult drink of choice at your table. We met some really cool people from Mass. who were sitting at our table with our group. I like when comedy clubs have the tables that allow you to see people laughing across from you, it is better than sitting in a row like«theatre» environment. They had a pretty cool process for getting people in and out. You enter through the front door on Warren Ave, and then get to exit out directly to the parking lot. We enjoyed this immensely as we actually got to meet and talk with the comics who performed. That was a big plus, to interact with them on the Club’s patio on the side of the building. If you want really raunchy comedy go on a Friday night to the Hardcore Show. I have been twice, and both times I experienced gut splitting laughs. Cool place. I will definitely be going back!

The only reason I give this place a star at all is because the comics work so hard. Staff is terrible. Groupons are not honored.(I’ve been twice and each time is conveniently a «special event», and have heard this from 3 other friends who went on separate occasions as well). They have no understanding of customer service. Drinks are weak and expensive. Overall, not worth the money. It’s a shame, too.

OK, AMAZED at the the Cory’s rebuttal to the negative review, I feel compelled to write my own. We were seated to the far right in the Comedy Connection, the section was mostly empty when we arrived. The others that were seated after us never once called any of the staff over other than the wait staff. ALL of the staff had to pass our table to get to the section we were in and the only time I observed the security staff go over to another table was to tell THEM not to shout out answers to the comedian’s question. Why was I observing all this? Because I was so put off by our first encounter with security, I was not that interested in the comedians. I will say that when I tried to pull my chair back from the table, the table moved and spilled a drink. With the help of the staff we quickly cleaned it up and were seated again. For THAT disruption, I will apologize to anyone who was seated near us(again, very few as we were in a far corner and were not blocking anyone’s view of the stage). After the second interruption from Security, my wife asked for his name. His response — «My name is irrelevant». I don’t thing provoking anger is the best way for any security person to respond. And, by not giving his name, my wife had to write a review using physical descriptions… Unless the gentleman’s name really IS «Irrelevant’, I don’t think that was a good reply. My wife asked for manager at that point and stepped into the foyer to have both the manager and security do nothing to resolve the situation. When I joined them, there were five of us in the foyer, it was WAY to close. As I stepped past the manager to get to the door, he accused me of shoving him by saying«And I didn’t appreciate your shoving me when you walked by me». My IMMEDIATE response was«if I nudged you while was trying to squeeze by to get out the door, I apologize. I would NEVER intentionally shove ANYONE»(my exact words). ANYONE who knows me knows I abhor any kind of physical violence and have never and would never resort to it. Now standing with the door open, the rest of our party got out of the foyer. Because the manager was acting like a stubborn child instead of a club manager, I asked him how old he was, told him I didn’t think he should be left in charge, and let him know we would be reporting his behavior along with the security guy. To add insult to injury, we found out yesterday that the manager and security guard stood outside the venue shouting and pointing at the others in our party as they drove away. Who left these people in charge? As for the account of events that Cory got from his staff, I can only suggest that it was mostly fabricated or was actually some OTHER unruly party at the club that night. As I read the account, I just kept saying«They can’t be talking about us» until I got to the shove/surveillance video comment. I forwarded my wife’s review directly via Unilocal to the Comedy Connection, right after she wrote it. My comment in the forward was«Be advised this has been posted on Unilocal, your staff needs some work». From a customer standpoint, I still feel the same and won’t be going back.

We had a TERRIBLE experience at this venue last night. We went with friends to see a comedian that we are very excited about, and ended up leaving before we got to see him perform. Now mind you, we are a group of 50+ aged grandparents. Not rowdy at ALL. We paid $ 26 per person(a little pricey we thought) and got seated behind the entrance desk(Not very good seats at all). They made an announcement at the beginning of the show there was«no heckling» allowed, which we thought was unusual, but since we would never do that, we just shrugged it off. First comedian came out and started his act off by saying he had walked there from his job, and asked the audience what we thought his job was. Several people called out answers, but the bouncer came to us(as we were sitting right behind him), and told us we were not allowed to call out anything. We were stunned. We are far from rude audience members, and were quite put out by this. Then in the middle of the 3rd comedian’s act, the waitress asked us to close out our bill, as she was leaving. And note, the drinks were very expensive. Again… we were stunned and were trying to figure out what was going on, when the bouncer, a heavy black man with his security badge hanging around his neck like he thought he was a cop, turned around again to tell us «there was no table chatter allowed». Well, that was enough for us to ask for a manager. We got nothing but arguments when we told this young skinny red-headed«manager» that we were dissatisfied with the way we had been treated. He had no intention of trying to settle the situation, but was quite willing to let us leave angry and unsatisfied. The bouncer and manager stood there, both with their arms crossed, and argued with us about everything were unhappy about. We have never witnessed such disregard for paying customers. AND to top it off, we never got to see the comedian we had just spent all that money to see. Needless to say, we will never go back to this venue and will most certainly spread the word at how badly we were treated.

This is a small place, however, isn’t comedy best served in an intimate setting… I think yes! The food is your typical, fast food pub grub The drinks can take awhile to get to your table depending upon the size of the audience, however, that’s to be expected anywhere when a place is busy. The waitstaff and bartenders are very friendly. As for the comedians… some of the local guys and gals are just as funny or funnier than the big national acts they bring down from the Wilbur Theatre in Boston. My favorite is John Perrotta… he is absolutely hilarious!

I love the comedy connection. Fellas if your looking for a great date night this is it. Laughing is a great way to spend a night. The comedians are varied. Some are well known some are not but everyone I have seen is funny. Usually the host will crack a few jokes then there is a warm up comic before the main act. Expect to be there for about two hours. It’s a very cozy place and the seats are close together. Pretty much every seat is a good one. The service is decent. They check on you often and keep your drinks refilled. They have a full bar and all kinds of funky drinks also. Food is typical bar food but quite tasty. I have had pizza wings and pretzels so far and all good. It can get busy so I recommend getting there early and getting your drink on and ordering some food at soon as you can. If your looking for a great night out this is it. If your a little saucy they also have a xxx comedy show late night. Go check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

About a month ago I went to see Joe Matarese with my girlfriend. I wasn’t specifically familiar with his work but I read he had big appearances on the Tonight Show, Comedy Central, X-Factor, etc. The $ 15 ticket prices and free parking were a nice change of pace compared to seeing a show in Boston or some other venues. My girlfriend is not a particularly big fan of very crowded places, and by the time the show started the place was beyond packed. Everyone was shoulder to shoulder seated on long benches, some people facing a bit away from the stage. I don’t mind crowds, and it usually enhances the humor at comedy shows, but I really had to wrench my neck and back the whole time due to the bench seating, our proximity to the stage, and the few inches between myself and 5 other people. Another negative includes the disgusting half-broken men’s bathroom, but not a deal breaker. I didn’t get any food or drinks but they looked like your average bar food and booze. The main show was very funny with good warm-up acts as well. Overall what really matters to me are the affordable ticket prices and hilarious comedians. I will be going to more shows for sure, I just may show up even earlier to make sure I get a seat where I don’t have to crane my neck the whole time(still worth it though).

I can not say enough good things about this place. The Comedy Connection is an old bank converted and right off the highway. It looks cool and it is cool. I started coming here for the stand up comedy class and now I keep staying for the shows. There is no other place like it in Providence and highly recommend it to those looking for something new. They serve food which you can eat while you watch the show and the bar staff is amazing! Try it for a special occassion or a date night and keep coming back for the good times and laughs.

Great venue. It’s small, but there really isn’t a bad seat in the house. We went to see Dan Smith. The host, Mike was amazing. I had no clue that he wasn’t the opening act because he was so hilarious. The opening act, Marty(Something) was also very funny. We paid about $ 15 each for the tickets. I think the price was very reasonable, and my boyfriend and I had a blast. We sat down with an empty stomach. The food didn’t take long(maybe 20 minutes). It was nothing exceptional, but we polished off the Big Meat pizza in less than 30 minutes. The fries are worth it, though. Keep in mind, this place does not really operate in favor of their food service. I noticed that by the vague menu and comments like«coffee is served only in the months of October — March». Barely anyone ordered much(food) other than fries and I was seated next to the service station(which is bad because I’m a server/bartender) and watched food sit there for 15 – 20 minutes before being brought to a table. My advice, don’t order food until after the opening act comes on the stage. The servers are too busy catching up on drinks to serve food and the hosts(who helped run food) were still at the door seating people. It took a really long time to get service because it was a sold out show and there were only 3 servers and 2 bartenders. They could have used one more of each. We were stuck waiting 25 minutes after the show to pay, even though we were ready to pay the minute she dropped the check. It’s not the fault of the waitstaff that it was so crowded, but better planning could have prevented their being understaffed. Bathrooms were quite clean. Beware ladies, only two stalls so there could be a line depending on when you need to go. Parking is limited, but free. If you come to an earlier show, you should be fine. We arrived 15 minutes early and got the last parking space. The location is easy to find and conveniently right off the highway. The pricing on the food and drinks were reasonable. Expect $ 4 – 5 on a beer and about $ 10 for a coctail. That’s about right for Providence. I really liked the mood of the place. It’s the best location I’ve been to in the area. You’d need to go to Boston for the next best thing.
