Bad Martha’s Brewery is a great addition to the Island! We came here on a Saturday afternoon in September. It was fairly crowded so the service was definitely slow but they were friendly, which makes up for it in my book. The brewery is right next door to a nursery so the seating area is really beautiful. They also have some games to play, like cornhole, while enjoying your beer. I had the beer flight and liked that I was able to select my pairings. I don’t remember specifically which ones I selected but enjoyed them all. I will definitely be back next time I’m on the Vineyard!

Fun little spot, pretty location and a great story behind it. I like that they offer cheese plates, charcuterie and veggie platters, along with snacks(the pretzels & mustard are tasty! Not sure which of their beers is in the mustard but I’d buy the mustard!) had the beach plum cherry today and it was quite tasty, as was the mocha stout. The island IPA was a little too fruity for my IPA taste but it was good. Def a good stop while on island.

Had an excellent time at Bad Martha’s celebrating the wedding of two friends in Edgartown a few weeks ago. Their beers are quite good(the honey ale was my favorite), the outdoor seating area is beautiful, and the bar staff were incredibly accommodating despite the prospect of serving – let’s be honest here – a group of about 25 extremely loud and occasionally vulgar old friends who were rapidly becoming more inebriated. Kudos for helping to make it such a great evening! I’ll definitely come back to visit the next time I’m on MV.

What a great change of pace for all the things that have come and gone over the years in this tricky corner in the upper section of Edgartown. My wife and I each tried a flight of beer to see what we liked and then decided on a pint of our favorite after that. She got the pale and I got the Orca… of course the Jaws reference influenced my decision but well worth it. Hope you check it out when you’re over here. Enjoy!

This place was super cute! I had heard about its opening last summer but wasn’t on the island to try it. Now that I’m here it was on my to do list. Love the atmosphere of the brewery! This place serves its beer in most of the local restaurant on the island, but worth taking a trip to the brewery. The beer I tried was easy to drink on a hot summer day, not too hoppy. Love the garden in the back you can go back there too just can’t take your drinks back there. Also like the outdoor games they have and the rocking chairs, makes for a nice afternoon stop on the island!

«Bad» is the key word here. Beer was fine, but bad service, bad attitudes and bad customer service was aplenty. There was not one employee, and there were several working, with a smile on his face, a friendly word of welcome or knowledge of the beers they served. My advice to the owners is to take the word«tasting room» off your web site because this leads one to believe you are going to get a little information about what you are tasting. Yes, they have flights for sampling all their creations, but the staff didn’t have any clue what was what. Please take a moment to train your staff about what they are pouring or at the very least write up a description of the beers for your customers to read. We heard a lot of folks ask the same questions we did about the beers they were drinking and they too were met with blank stares and shoulder shrugs from some of the most miserable servers I’ve ever seen. One customer returned her beer apologetically telling the bartender it tasted like soap because the glass wasn’t rinsed enough. He looked at her in disbelief for a moment and reluctantly took it and replaced it without a word. Bad Martha left a bad taste for sure.

Service was iffy here, but the beer was good and it was a nice place to hang out. Really nice patio seating outside. It was busy but felt spacious enough to relax. Charcuterie platters looked nice. For beer we really liked the porter. The smokey beer was nice, too. The strawberry beer was good for a hot day, refreshing almost like a lemonade. The bourbon beer was good but very strong, almost like having a shot of bourbon.

A very cool spot, fun outdoor games that pair well with beer. The ambiance was great and beer and food spreads tasty. However, the customer service was questionable-the staff was horrible and unpleasant from the moment my friends and I stepped in. When trying to figure out what beers I wanted on my flight I asked the bartender what the«lager» was and their response was«it’s a lager». I blank stared her wondering if she was going to go in more detail like most breweries would and then I asked«ok obviously it’s a lager, but what’s the flavor, how is it made, different hops, etc.» She just said it’s a lager and that’s all she knew and then aggressively gave me a sample. When we ordered a cheese spread, the spread was great and I personally like the gouda and cheddar with the mustard. However, there wasn’t enough bread/crackers for the amount of cheese. My friend asked for more crackers and the waitress came back with a napkin of 3 crackers and said this was all they would give her to give us. However, throughout the evening we saw other groups order the cheese spread and request more crackers and they were given a jar full. Lastly, there are two bathrooms that are not labeled male or female, and my boyfriend asked a waiter which was the men’s and which was the female bathroom, the guy was unfriendly and told my boyfriend there is a difference but it doesn’t matter which one he uses. And walked away. My entire group felt unwelcome at this highly acclaimed and recommended brewery. It is a shame considering we are all avid brewery goers as well as MV visitors. I hope they are able to learn from our experience with their staff and learn how to not ostracize certain groups. Our overall customer service experience brought this rating down from a potential 4.5 to a 2.

This place is worth the short walk from downtown Edgartown. Great beer and a relaxed, open-air space to sample the island’s newest microbrewery. Lots of adirondack chairs and rustic benches to hang out on. Just don’t come looking for a meal. It’s not a restaurant at all, although they do have a great cheese platter and a couple of other bar snacks. And when you’re done, there’s a huge amount of BMFB swag to spend your last remaining dollars on.

Gorgeous bar, gorgeous patio, gorgeous décor… Decent beer. They do most of their brewing off-Island in Ipswich, MA as the size of this operation can’t keep up with demand, but don’t worry — it’s still kinda local even though it’s not brewed on MV(Got to the place in Oak Bluffs for that). Bad Martha’s is great for kicking back with a flight or a pint, a cheese & meat plat and a group of friends. I love the bar as much as I love the patio spaces — it’s a big barn with a poured cement bar and a very easy, casual atmosphere. They’ve also got loads of merch if you’re into that(and into spending mad dough). As for the beers, they’re ok. My favorites are the Pilsner and the Coffee Stout. Both are refreshing and well-balanced. I’ve tried a lot of the others and they range from tasting a tad soapy to a tad rubbery thanks to the brewing process(and using chlorinated water — yuck!). The MV Ale is decent and I wouldn’t turn down a pint of their Summer Ale, either. Really, this place is all about the atmosphere and the idea — a great place to hang with friends and have a pint. Don’t miss the charcuterie plate, either!

There’s nothing better than to sit outside on a beautiful patio(covered with a gorgeous variety of plants and flowers, courtesy of the nursery next door) drinking delicious cold beer on a warm summer day…

Had a beer flight which was pretty pricey($ 9)The rest of the pints are between 5.50 and 6 which seems much more reasonable. Great brews we enjoyed the atmosphere. The brewery is only in its second season which makes everything newer and very clean for a brewery. Small but a ton of merchandise and the bar itself is a decent size. Bartender was also knowledgable.

Four stars from a non beer drinker says a lot. I enjoy stopping here tremendously. Despite my preferred drink being wine, I like the beer here. The rocking chairs, patio and lovely plantings all around make for a great day drinking stop on the bike route.

Nothing but great things should be said about this place. Pouring 10 beers, all(mostly) locally sourced but with one flaw — no kitchen to put out food — but I’m guessing the guys are working on that. Sharky’s nect door in case you get hungry but they DO have little jars of wasabi mix and mixed nuts. The beers are all tasty, cold, and crisp. Outdoor seating allows you to people watch while enjoying great local brews. They sell anything you can imagine with the name and logo emblazoned on it – coozys, beach balls, mugs, pint glasses, lip balm! These guys should do a great job and once they get a kitchen to churn out food, OffShore will have some serious competition(though Bad Martha’s beers, to me, are better than OSAs) Going back soon.
