Love the show when you have a flat top Master working, food is really good get a double order of fried rice and you got a second meal to take with you.

Dining in has always been great. Nice waiters/waitresses and good food. However their take out service is always horrible. Have only had one time where my order was correct. Last night I had my final bad experience. Called around 7pm to order and was put on hold for over 3 minutes. Hung up and called again. Put back on hold. Host picks up and finally takes my order. I show up a few minutes later and there are three hostesses just standing around glaring at me. I pick up my order and it’s missing food. How is it that the wait staff is incredible but the hostesses are awful? I will now drive an additional 10 minutes just to get great service at Yama.

I stopped in to try them out for the first time. The host was really nice and told us about the happy hour pricing. I thought, ok seems like a go. We were seated at the hibachi style table and the floor on one side was sticky where you could see the stain of a soda from the last sitting party. I started to look around and noticed the floor had other areas of unswept food and was disgusted. If also didn’t help that it was dated inside. I decided to leave because if the customer area was nasty I imagined the kitchen would be the same… I can’t speak on the food.

Very disappointed. Not the Fuji we remember. Less than good service. Caesar Roll and Black Dragon Roll were served warm??? Def not Japanese Sushi Chefs. Dust on top of sushi bar. Gross.

I have had my share of Japanese restaurants living in Hawaii and California. I’m not a snob, but there are basic standards to the food I enjoy. This meal was cold for our entire table, except for our sushi which was luke warm because it had been sitting around after it was made. Our dishes were thrown on the table and our waitress was rude. As to the quality of the food, it was disgusting. We could have found better sushi at Safeway. So many details, small and large that make this place unpalatable and a remarkable disappointment.

We enjoyed ourselves !! Very friendly, professional & knowledgable server(Theresa) made our visit comfortable. We where a party of 8 and my son’s Birthday. Our friends first time here at Fuji, they where very impress, drinks where refilled without asking and no clutter on our table. This was our 3x here, but yesterday was very smooth and memorable one. To top it off there where very busy and we noticed that Theresa got another party across our table at the same time. She did great. We will come back again

I’ve been here maybe 3 times and I’ve never been disappointed! I’ve had the Hibachi experience all 3 times. It’s very fun and exciting. My friends and I love the yum yum sauce and always get quadruple the portions of it. The food is so filling that I can only finish half of the plate. We came at closing last time and the hostess seemed bothered we were there but oh well we had fun and I wouldn’t knock all of my experiences because of that one incident. It’s always been fun and a joy. The chefs are very entertaining and are very good at what they are doing.

I wouldn’t pay full price to go here. We used a living social deal. It is expensive and not very high quality. The portions are small for the price you pay. We do not recommend this place.

My friend had never been to a hibachi steakhouse before so I treated him to Fiji last Friday night. We had 8p reservations and got there a little early so went to the bar. I couldn’t decide which cocktail I got so I ordered two different kinds. They were both delicious and the bartender was real friendly. I was really impressed with the chef we got when we were seated. I thought he was really good and put on a good show while making everyone’s food. My friend loved it. He was really excited about trying to catch a piece of shrimp in his mouth(he had heard stories) and he totally was able to. I actually caught it with my mouth as well which I had never been able to do in the past so I guess this chef had real good aim. The food was really good as well. We were going to go out for ice cream afterwards but we were so stuffed that we decided to go home instead.

Only had sushi and apps here… The sushi is really good and fresh. It’s my go to sushi place. They have great appetizers as well! Highly recommend.

I often forget to review local restaurants, since we take them for granted. Just wanted to say we always have a good time and great food at our local Fuji in Edgewater. Many years ago we would drive an hour to Columbia for hibachi cooking. Then, Annapolis got some restaurants, but now we only have to go a few miles. The last two times we were there we had Leo for a cook and AJ for our server. They are both funny, charming, and quick with service. The owner even comes by to check to make sure we are having fun. The hibachi tables get a little noisy. Sometimes we just take a regular table and the food is still just as good from the kitchen. Thanks to the other reviewers suggestions of menu items to try.

This place is not only hands-down our favorite hibachi restaurant in town, it’s also our favorite sushi place anywhere in the area! Food and service are consistently good and the drinks are yummy! Keep up the great work, everyone!

Love love love this place. The staff is friendly fast and great all around. Udan was our hibachi chef and he executed everything with perfection. The flavors and flair were evenly balanced. My fiancé lived in japan for a year and he even said this was the best ever. Definitely nice for family couples kids or celebrations. Highly recommended and we will for sure come back lots!

Solid 3.5 stars. Came here from Odenton on Friday night for an after-work girls night. One of the girls I was with lives in the area and comes here all the time. She also swore by their sushi. I arrived after my two girlfriends and we were seated immediately at a table near the sushi bar. I’m not sure if this Fuji has the same owners as the ones in Waugh Chapel, but about 60% of their sushi rolls were exactly the same(names/ingredients). I ordered my faves– Dragon, Arrigato, Eel and Avocado, and ordered a Coconut Shrimp roll from their specials menu. All of my rolls were good, but for some reason, I really dig the Waugh Chapel location. It’s not the newer décor or more trendy atmosphere… the sushi is just better. Better presentation, better rolling technique(2 of my rolls basically disintegrated as I tried to pick them up and eat them). The service also wasn’t amazing. After our food arrived, my glass sat empty for a good while before the server came to refill it. We were also finished with our food for a good 15 minted before the server came and asked us if we’d like anything else. I would return again if I was ever in the area, but there’s no way I would drive from Odenton to Edgewater when I have phenomenal sushi right in Gambrills. On another note, if you are looking for a place to have a group outing, there is a large party room in the back of the restaurant.

This used to be a family favorite but the service has been awful the past three times we have been there. They must have had a management change or something.

The location is great, parking is easy, it never seems to be over crowded, and the food and service are great. Unless you’re sitting in the hibachi side of the restaurant, it’s very quiet and you can enjoy a nice dinner and have low-level conversations. My wife and I are both fans of Fuji Japanese Steakhouse, for different reasons. My wife loves sushi and I really do not, but Fuji Japanese Steakhouse can accommodate us both. We generally sit at a table instead of the sushi bar, or large 12-person hibachi tables where they cook in front of you. This allows her to still order her sushi rolls, and I can order a filet and shrimp combination entrée. The meals always come out piping hot and delicious, and the serving portions are quiet large – I almost always bring a box home. Unlike Sakura, Fuji gives you both fried rice and lo mein with your meals. The house salad with ginger salad dressing is absolutely a must. The vegetable tempura was great, good variety and lots of dipping sauce for a reasonable price. The Red Dragon Roll and the Hawaiian Roll were excellent. So many flavors and textures. If you like spicy the Red Dragon Roll is great. I prefer sweet tastes, so the Hawaiian Roll was my favorite. I will definitely get that again.

I haven’t been to a hibachi grill in forever, so I was super excited to grab a deal for Fuji off of Groupon! We drove down from Columbia on a Sunday afternoon and it turns out we were the ONLY people in the restaurant for our entire meal! It was a little weird at first but we started to feel like VIP after a while ;) We ordered drinks(unsweetened tea for him, Sapporo for me!) and a sushi appetizer for each of us(admittedly, we were a bit hungover and this was our first meal of the day!). It came with two pieces of each: ebi(shrimp), sake(salmon), yellowtail(hamachi), and maguro(tuna). We wanted to get a taste for their seafood in case we wanted to come back another time for sushi and we were very pleased! It tasted very fresh and delicious. For our hibachi entrees, he ordered salmon and shrimp with the shrimp appetizer and I ordered salmon and chicken. Before our food was cooked, our server gave us soup and salad to nibble on. The salad wasn’t some out-of-the-bag iceberg lettuce, which iI was so grateful for. The sesame-ginger dressing was super addictive. Afterwards, the hibachi chef entertained us like the whole table was filled, even though it was just us! He was funny and told us a lot about the best way to store seafood, haha. Our meal included our chosen proteins, fresh fried rice(or white if you want), vegetables(zucchini, carrots, mushrooms, onions) and lo mein noodles, which I’ve never had at a hibachi before but they totally made the meal for me. Everything was amazing! The salmon, chicken, and shrimp had a distinguished grill flavor and our vegetables and rice were rich and buttery. The portions were huge and I had enough for lunch the next day. The entire experience was satisfying and fun, but at the end of our meal, I couldn’t access my groupon code on my phone because there was terrible service in the hibachi room, so our server packaged up our leftovers and told us to go to the hostess desk in the front to get our check, where she would apply the groupon discount. When we went up there, the manager was there, who told us our groupon wasn’t good for carryout orders. She must have seen our bag of leftovers and thought we didn’t eat in, but the staff told her we did. She was pretty peeved for the rest of the exchange, for whatever reason. She asked us our server’s name and where she was(umm? how am i supposed to know?) Regardless, we paid and left, and I would come back again. She was SUPER weird, but the amazing service and tasty food is enough to bring me back!

I bought a Groupon here for my husband and I to dine with on our Friday date night. When we have hibachi food, we usually go to a place near our home, however the coupon offering made the deal irresistible, even in Friday traffic! Fuji Steakhouse is a good half hour or so from our house with no traffic, so a Friday night was a little over an hour. So glad we made the trek down. We were greeted warmly by the hostess who showed us to our seats. The seats were a little on the close side, but I moved the one chair over some and it was all good. Our waitress was awesome. Normally, it seems like it’s one dish after another, but she brought large bowls of steaming soup and gave us time to actually digest them before bringing a lovely bowl of salad greens with a spectacular sesame flavored dressing. Really appreciated not getting the bowl of ordinary iceberg lettuce out of the bag! :) Everyone ordered and the chef came out and went over our orders and how we wished our beef cooked. While we were disappointed they didn’t have our favorite appetizer of chicken liver, we really loved the addition of hibachi cooked noodles! They were fantastic! Fried rice was served in a bowl and we liked that because it allowed us to use our chopsticks for the entire meal. Sauteed veggies accompanied the meal. Yum yum sauce and the brown sauce for meat were poured and they didn’t disappoint. Both hubby and I ordered scallops and fillet medium rare. Normally when we go to our other restaurant, it seems like we get shorted on steak and scallops because everything is whacked up and they start from either end of the table. In this case, the chef seared both the steaks and scallops whole. He cut each fillet and gave it space on the grill so that YOURSTEAK could be served to you. Really liked this. Same for the scallops, but he left them whole which worked out so much better because not only did you get the same amount as everyone, but they were still juicy and succulent. Waitress was on top of things… she kept glasses filled and moved empty plates from the table… you hardly knew she was there! We were very pleased and would certainly drive there again!
