This is the third time that I have been to Rebecca’s and two of the three times the food was just so-so. Im the past 18 months or so they went thru some renovations and I believe they changed ownership which I think has led to the lackluster food. This time I got the ropa vieja which was too chewy in my opinion. In addition the service(although our waiter was very pleasant) was very slow to the point that we even skipped dessert because the dinner was taking too long.

2⁄59 $ for a prefix. Valentine day. Bill came out to 187.00 they add on tip. Now they just hand you the bill they don’t tell you that it’s included in the price so be careful that you don’t over tip. No drinks mind you. It’s a BYO. NOTHAPPY ! So disappointed, this food has not taste at all for spending that much. Its like city prices. First check the water I remember years ago I came here and the water had black things in it and visible lint floating around. And here we are years later and you would think they would remedy the problem by now. The appetizers were tasty. But that’s where it stops. Beans had no taste they were watery. Rice is dry. I was disappointed and more so because of the price it was definitely overpriced. I went to the city prior to coming to this place. It was a three month wait for this restaurant. I had appetizers salad great entrées. Too dirty martinis. And our portion of the bill was 170 including tip. Now I won’t mention the name of the restaurant because this is not a review for them. I just don’t understand how they would charge so much and I receive so little. I’m going to give it three stars because the service was very hospitable. But needless to say I will not be returning

Me and my boyfriend have been wanting to try this place for a while, however somehow things just seems to get in the way. Tonight we were trying to decide where to go to dinner so we gave them a call to ask if they were taking walk ins or only reservations for tonight. I didn’t set my hopes high, but I did expect a more porofessional answer than I received. The person who answered the phone laughed at my question and to be quite frank was extremely snotty for lack of a better word. Needless to say our desire to ever try this restaurant has gone. I understand this is a higher class restaurant and it’s a Saturday night, but a simple«no, I’m sorry it looks like we’re booked for the night» would suffice. If this is any indication on how they treat their guests, I say steer clear.

I have been to Rebecca’s many times before and this is the first time I am slightly disappointed. The menu was prefix for $ 59 pp, but we were charged $ 55 for extras.(black beans, maduros and WATER). Not an I and gratuity. Which isn’t really an issue but a heads up would’ve been nice The waiters were a bit frazzled or new, I ordered a coffee with dessert and it was brought out a while after I finished eating. The waitress was nice enough to put it on the house. The terrace has been covered recently, and it was a nice touch but COLD! They have a heater but it didn’t seem to warm up enough. My husband made reservations on open table for 5pm, and I had called to see if we could move it to 6pm; they said they were completely filled. So not true! Another couple walked in at 5:50 and were seated immediately because there were over 10 tables available. While I understand they expected high volume, I was annoyed that I had to rush. Lastly, they now have a wine menu which isn’t really advertised and I wish I had known because we brought our own bottle. They took the cork and couldn’t recork our bottle so we had to leave it behind.

It gets one star for the freshness of the shrimp. But still very disappointing. I ordered Havana Shrimp that was suppose to come with salsa. But when the food was delivered at 9:50pm(order placed at 8:10pm) there was so salsa or sauce of any kind but just grilled shrimp and rice. For $ 27!!! It’s NOT worth it. I will NOT be ordering from this place again.

I vowed to only give positive reviews but! Went to go eat on Old River Road and Rebeccas«valet» service said we couldn’t park in a legal and public parking spot. The excuse was that they hold it for the delivery guy. It wasn’t the driveway. It was a space next to the driveway, a small space, but I drive a FIAT :). I know to keep driveways clear, especially ones that are posed like yours(no parking). I wasn’t trying to park in the driveway. I wanted to park in the curbside spot next to it. Thank you for your reply.

Ambiance and service are great, but food leaves much to be desired. The Ropa Vieja was very chewy and rubbery like, and Lechon Asado lacked flavor until I drowned it in mojo. These are simple dishes that any hole in the wall on Bergenline execute for $ 6 dollars. My suspicion is that it was prepped poorly or microwaved or something. The Empanadas were delicious and desert was great which was a relief . Maybe they should use those fancy light up menus in the kitchen so the cook can see what they are doing

Hit or miss… good attempt at mom and pop cuban food. Lots depends on where you are sitting. If you get the side room or back its very disappointing. Food is at times great.

Unexpected find in Edgewater NJ. Very romantic, ambient décor, it is a great date place. Service is superb. Food was good to very good. The pulled pork was amazing. It’s BYOB so go prepared!

Food and service were honestly amazing. The vibe there is quiet and is perfect for a date night. Only thing I didnt like is the fact that even with my own bottle of wine that I brought, I was charged $ 25 for a pitcher of sangria with only soda and some fruits added to it.

Way overpriced. Menu needs work. Doesn’t make sense. Ordered some braised pork and thats literally all I got. For $ 30. It needed some kind of bread or tortilla. Boring food if you ask me. Took forever for our water glasses to be refilled.

An incredible experience. The atmosphere makes you not want to go home! The skirt steak is like eating meat candy!!! But most of all the hosts, Richie, Avi & Jesus make you feel right at home and delight you with their amazing cuisine. Pick yourself up a good red and get ready to get your taste groove on at this wonderful restaurant!

I attended my friends Bday brunch party here. The food was excellent I had the chips with fingerlicking good guac. Followed by Cameron Verde and it was excellent, spicy, tangy and brought to life my tastebuds. The ambience with the indo-caribean music was perfect and put everybody in party mode. I am from newyork but I would cross the bridge for this place again. Also the bar had good choice of alchohol, nothing too fancy but good :)).

I’m sorry Rebecca’s! This was not a place for me. The service was phenomenal, we came pretty late but they served us anyway. The décor is very elegant, definitely a perfect date spot. These are definitely NYC prices but the food was only OK. Cuban Croquettes-6/10? These were ok, they were minced little sausage shaped croquettes which had a pre-chewed feeling. The taste was very subtle and unconvincing. I think these needed more seasoning. Jerk chicken-6/10? The chicken was OK, the price was not($ 23 for three small chicken breast fillets? with some seasoning on top, nothing fancy?) the rice and beans were good, nice chewy texture and well balanced. The fruit salad(mangoes, and pineapples) were great to provide the juicy part of the chicken dish, but i definitely expected the chicken to have a little bit more juiciness, flair or flavor other than the surface spices. Not very well marinated but wasn’t completely dry bricks so I can’t complain too much Pulled pork dish-7/10 BF ordered this, he said the pork was way too oily and the only thing saving it was the tangy sauce. I thought it was delicious so I would give this a 9⁄10. Desserts-8/10 It was late and we had a drive back so I ordered a Cortado, it was very sweet but pretty(came in a champagne flute, layered) I think I came in here expecting the heavy, flavorful, saucy cuban food I’m use to in NYC and left slightly disappointing. I will not be returning but if you’re looking for a fancy dinner date, to drop a lot of bucks this would be the place for you. Cheers, Cyn

Dined here on a Saturday night for dinner. I was underwhelmed and won’t be returning. Nothing bad just nothing special. I had the ropa vieja and wasn’t impressed(it tasted like very fatty poorly trimmed beef), bf had churrasco which was incredible. We shared a salad for app, it was good. Presentation was beautiful of all items. What will keep me from returning to this establishment is the service. I believe the bread basket should be brought out ASAP, ours didn’t come until the app arrived. No one checked on us and asked how the food was, if we needed anything the whole time. Water glasses were never refilled and I had to ask twice for more. I just felt like we were an afterthought.

It was difficult to figure out the star rating. For the options in Edgewater, the food is a solid 4. Compared to NYC, the food is a solid 3 star. The plating was a bit dated but the portions were generous. Décor was nice. Service was super friendly and attentive. On an impromptu date night, I thought cuban food would be a fun choice. We came Sunday night and it wasn’t crowded at all which was nice. It has a quiet yet upscale vibe. We sat in the small secluded room to the left and opted for a table taking advantage of the huge repurposed church(?) bench next to the wall which was a bad choice because it forces your body to sit all the way back and I had to kind of awkwardly lean forward to get to my food. You can’t adjust or move the bench but you can adjust the table if you need it. I like the menu options though wish they had more for vegetarian eaters. I picked the mango salmon and The Husband picked the skirt steak. We didn’t get any starters because the price tag surprised us a bit. That’s okay because with the sides we were both stuffed. I do kind of regret not getting something plantain — chips, tostones, maduros. I was craving them. The Husband loved the skirt steak. He recommends medium. He chose dirty rice and it came with yucca fries & an onion cilantro«salsa». The dirty rice was really good — super flavorful. The yucca fries were good but a touch dry and were aching for some kind of dipping sauce. The onion cilantro salsa was my savior. I got the mango salmon with a side of the yam and it came with a mango«salsa». The salmon was perfectly cooked medium well. But the salmon was not seasoned at all and while not overly fishy tasting, the quality of the salmon may not have matched the price tag attached to it. The salmon relied on the mango sauce on top for flavor which wasn’t flavorful either. The sweetness of the mango«salsa» and the yam were delicious but overpowering the entire dish. I recommend getting the flavorful dirty rice as your side to add some much needed savory element. I stole The Husband’s onion cilantro salsa and put it on top of the salmon and it was perfection together. I asked for an extra side and ate the entire bowl with my salmon. So, in conclusion — if you live in the area and want a nice, more quiet, romantic place with attentive super friendly service, come here. Don’t expect the best Cuban food of your life. But you’ll get good portions and tasty food.

Valet service at the front. This store is near archetypus, the café where hs/college students used to congregate. The restaurant is surprisingly smaller than I expected. We were seating in the back room, which had 5 two seater tables available. Was a bit too dark for my liking, but the illuminated menu made up for that. Book of Narnia, anyone? Anyway, we brought a bottle of red wine which was uncorked promptly upon seating. The waiters here are delightfully courteous, but they didn’t come back once to check on how the food was. Other than that, no complaints with the service. In fact, kudos to them for calling us patiently, time and time again to check if we would like to keep our reservation. We were 45 mins late! Yikes! I apologized upon stepping foot into the restaurant, which was gracefully taken. The guac with plantain chips were the best I’ve ever had. The plantain chips are so thinly sliced with just the right amount of crunch and saltiness. The guac lacked cilantro– much love, as I find cilantro absolutely disgusting. Make sure you order guac! Main course– SO had the skirt steak. He chowed down on that even before I could have 2 bites of my jerk chicken. Sadly, my chicken wasn’t really all that great– a bit dry and a bit too much cinnamon. The coconut yam that came with my dish was heavenly sweet and soft. The dinner experience was good, and I came out of there smiling. I’m not a huge Cuban food fan, but if I want some, this will be the place of choice! Also note that the valet is $ 5(so add some tip to that).

People were really nice and décor was awesome but food was OK. Nothing exceptional. Not sure why restaurants in Edgewater seem to have such high stars for mediocre foods. I see 4⁄5 stars and go in expecting great food but always get disappointed. YOUPEOPLENEEDTOEATINNYCFORAMAZINGFOOD and you’ll know what 4 – 5 stars food will taste like.

Came here during ramadan to break my fast. Small and quaint, ideal for a dinner date w a friend or the family. Started off with the plantain chips & guacamole. They brought out complimentary tostones which was nice. Chicken croquettes were also fresh and delicious, comes with a mayonnaise based dip. The waitress constantly refilled my water, which was a plus. MY cousin ordered the jerk chicken with white rice. The spices and flavor were great but it was a tad on the dry side.(Tender chicken breast is hard to come by) I ordered the ropa vieja… cooked to perfection. Due to the rain we couldnt enjoy the outdoor seating… but they DID however allow us to smoke there as opposed to having to go outside. So heads up to the smokers out there. As an avid wine drinker, I cant wait to come back with a bottle and try their sangria mix.(Mmmm hmm!) All in all, the food & service at Rebecca’s gets 4 gold stars. Me likey!

Very impressed. We made a last minute res on Friday night. Started with the plaintain chips with guac. Guac was very fresh, well-mixed to a whipped texture. Plaintain chips were thin, also very fresh. We got the churrasco with dirty rice and salsa, the lechon asado with dirty rice and garlic sauce, and a side of coconut mashed yams. The meats were perfectly cooked. There wasn’t a dry piece of meat. Portions were also big and we ended up having some leftover to take home. Both the lechon and steak reheated beautifully in the microwave. Note: the pork chop is advertised on the menu as taking 40 – 50 minutes. We were really hungry and didn’t want to wait. When we arrived around 8, half of the back was full. By the time we left, the indoor tables were almost all full. We got our food and check in about an hour. It is BYOB. They carry 3 – 4 wines from a NJ winery for about $ 20 each. Valet: $ 5. I’m not sure if the valet is only for Rebecca’s, but when we came out, the valet was nowhere to be found. The restaurant called him and we probably waited 5 minutes and he drove back. Our car was right next to the restaurant.

Great Food! Very small. Amazingly fresh guac, with plantain chips(cut the long way) was gooood! Got the grilled double cut pork chop! Wow! It was huge. 45 minutes to cook this beast, but worth the wait, hanging with good people made it easy! BYOB. Nice experience and the waitstaff was very good!

The best thing about this place is the BYOB. The outdoor seating is also nice, weather permitting of course. The food was okay, but nothing to rave about. It did a VERY long time for the food to come out, which was not a problem for us because we were enjoying our wines and not in a rush. The wait staff was not very attentive though — it took multiple requests to get more water and they never fixed our wobbly table. There were about 4 different wait staff that came to our table throughout the evening, so the service felt extremely disconnected. Some of the staff did not appear to be well-trained and seemed as though they would rather be some place else. Also, they advertise their guac as the«best in the tri-state»… I would say that it probably is not even the best on Old River Rd. All in all, it was oooookay, but not worth a second trip.

Made reservations for two on a Sunday evening. Here is a rundown of my highlights: –Near Edgewater Cinemas so perfect for Dinner and a Movie date –Outdoor garden in the back with(faux) babbling brook sets romantic ambiance –Courteous waitstaff –BYOB! My not so favorites of the evening: –They ran out of plantains chips so we had to settle for home-made tortilla chips, which were considerably bad. It was very greasy and had little crispiness. Just a disappointing substitute and pairing with some delicious guacamole. –Mango glazed salmon was dry and the mustard-flavored dressing on top of the salmon should have been avoided –We were running late for our reservation so did not have a bottle of wine. We opted for a selection off their wine menu but they ran out of that too. :( I ordered the Lechon Asado with morro. Real shame that the dish was mediocre. It was missing some salsa de cebolla(onion dressing) or something to bring the dish to life. The proportions were generous but I’d be happier with tastier menu options with more flavor. All in all, I can see myself going back there solely because of the pros listed above. Their waitstaff were very kind(and apologetic for the inconveniences), it’s BYOB, near the theaters, and the outdoor garden is ideal for a date. However, I may limit my selection to the Guac and Plantain Chips… assuming they have not run out of plantains! :( P. S. They don’t do the prefix menu for dinner anymore. This is only available for their brunch menu now.
