I sampled the meatball sub and a couple slices of vegetarian pizza. With terrible reviews, the bar was set sufficiently low and I’m pleased to report that Vocelli’s of Edgewater surpassed both my expectations and weekly sodium requirements. Like many men of a certain age, I’ve had better, but I’ve also had a lot, lot worse. So roll the dice with $ 12 or whatever, don’t expect too much and you’ll be fine.

We’ve ordered here before and weren’t overly impressed, but for a quick delivery, was fine. Tonight we got a large pizza for the kids, and a meatball sub on ciabatta, and a chicken parm sub on ciabatta for my wife and me. It arrived very quickly(a plus) but was absolutely terrible. The pizza was almost fully cooked on half of it, and completely undercooked on the other. You could taste the raw dough flavor. The subs were also horrific. My wife’s meatball sub literally had one, maybe one and a half meatballs sliced into 15 – 20 very thin pieces spread across a 9 or so inch large roll. Subway’s 6 inch probably has triple the amount of meatball on it. My chicken parm was inedible. I had exactly two small chicken tenders sliced in half lengthwise(so 4 half pieces total). They were soggy, mushy, and flavorless. The banana peppers I had on it were soggy and obviously not fresh. I literally had two bites and threw the rest in the trash. I called the store to complain, which I truthfully never ever do, and the manager was combative and defensive. On the pizza, he said«well it went through the oven, I don’t know how it could have been undercooked.» On the meatball sub he said they recently changed to bigger meatballs so it needed to be cut to fit. I’m totally OK with that if you actually put a decent amount of meatball on the sub. We didn’t make it to talking about my chicken. I offered to bring it back in to have him look, to which I would have done except he told me best he could do was offer me 20% off my next order. I’ve eaten at restaurants ranging from fast food to fine dining, and at the slightest hint of a problem, managers have immediately remedied the dish and deeply discounted the price if not comped it completely. I’m not looking for a handout by any means, but it MAY have made the difference of us thinking you were just having an off night versus, your food is bad and your customer service is equally bad, making the decision very easy for us to never go back again. Highly do not recommend this restaurant.

OK… once again a mushy, watery salad and a cold pizza picked up from Vocelli. We gave them one more chance after the same experience a few months ago and they blew it. This place is awful! I’ve had better frozen pizza.

Another Saturday night pie ending up in the ol garbage. We ordered two medium traditional crusts. Considering all the pizza deals out there, they were not offering anything substantial. So these two pies cost about $ 28 without tip. One was deluxe with red onion, olives, spicy sausage, mushrooms and green pepper. The other was sausage, mushroom and extra cheese. Compared to a Pizza Hut Supreme, this pie was anemic on the toppings. You’re not offering a deal and than you barely sprinkle on the goods? It didn’t help that the crust had such a fat rim that it covered a third of a slice further negating the amount of toppings that could be placed on the dough. Ordering extra cheese is a joke. Whose to say someone actually does a double dose? Not these teen chefs. We attempted to pull off some toppings from the other slices to beef up the ones we were going to eat, but after all that, it just wasn’t worth the calorie intake. Now I know why I have never ordered from this place before. My intuition this time was spot on, except of course for my brief lapse in judgement Saturday night. I blame it on the wine.
