Mesquite Grill

We have been going to this place since we happened upon it 2 yrs ago… it is a great place with delicious food… servers are always friendly & meals are always hot & served in a reasonable timely manner. We took friends last time & they are hooked like we are… highly reccommend it.

This place was great when my wife and I started going about a year ago. There has been a sharp drop off in the service the past few months. The food is still good but I will not be returning not even for take out. Inattentive servers and rude when you call for take out.

I went in today 5÷30÷2015 We went in around lunch time, it was full so we sat in the back, no one greeted us. We sat ourselves, a gentleman gave us our menus, and never said hello. After several minutes he never took our drink order, or asked if we were ready to order by then the lunch rush had slowed down. We moved to the front and we were greeted by a lady. She took our drink order, and our meal order pretty quickly. We waited for a long time after that for our order. I ordered the Turkey burger and my colleague ordered the catfish. Upon receiving my order I took a bite, and the bread tasted funny. I turned the bun over and to my surprise, I found lots of mold on my bun. I immediately let the waitress know and instead of making me a whole new burger she sent it to the back and all they did was switch out the bun. I was horrified. The waitress charged me full price for the meal. I paid the tab, left a tip and left. Needless to say I wont be eating there again. .My colleague was also displeased with the catfish as it was extremely greasy. Please think twice about eating here if you are in the area.

Casual restaurant. It was packed when we first got there around 8 pm on a Friday, but quickly died down. We went with a group of 7 friends. Drinks and food arrived shortly after ordering and were exactly what we ordered. The food was fresh and good. Service was average. Nothing bad, they were available when needed and we were served quickly. Under $ 15 for a good dinner for one.
We had the brisket nachos (GREAT!), queso (good), and chips and salsa (average).
The fajita plate was good but I should have ordered queso on it to make it even better.

I stopped by with my husband on Wednesday 7÷23÷14 during lunch hour. It’s a busy time, the place was packed with no where to sit. We stood by the entrance for a few minutes none of the staff came up to us so we went to the very back of the restaurant. We saw one male waiter and we asked if we could sit at the bar since those were the only chairs available. He said yes but that it may take him a while to get to us because he was the only waiter in the back area. We immediately just left. The food is very good there but I’m giving it a 3 star because of the problem with the waiter. Maybe they’re under staffed or he may have not been having a good day. That’s not something you tell a customer though.

One of the most delicious burgers I’ve had in McAllen — juicy, thick, and filling. And it was only $ 4.99. The rest of the menu is also inexpensive but not as much as the burgers. Also, our nephew enjoyed the chicken nuggets from the kids menu (so did I). A concern might be that they close at 9pm so it’s not a good idea if u eat late dinners.

I had the popular burger combo. Burger is decent. Employees are friendly. Will definitely go again and try more items.
