What’s a girl to do when she’s craving something warm, savory and golden. find the closest Indian bakery! The bakery is split into two sections when you walk in. There’s the to-go section where you can either pick-up or order what you like. Then there’s the step down area where there are tables where you can eat and a «Yogurt Station» however it’s not always open(just ask the front desk for assistance). There is ample parking since the store is located in a plaza. They even have outdoor seating available on those warmer days. They have a variety of options from American fast food(mozzarella sticks, French fries, etc), Indian sweet cakes to savory Indian munchies. I had asked for their Madras coffee or tea, however they ran out! Chicken Tikka Puff | This was so much better than the puffs I’ve gotten in the past. They have both non/veg options for your puff filings. Typically the outside is made with your traditional Pillsburry Puff Sheets one can find at ShopRite however they had a special dough that gave you a great crunch with every bite and was perfectly golden on the outside. On the inside, the chicken tikka pieces were bite size and was not too drying. Only down side was that there was a weird after-taste with the puffs however it tasted amazing so I’d go for another piece! Samosa | Standard samosa however there was a lot of the spicy potato filling! The dough on the outside wasn’t as crispy how I normally like it but it was chewy and doughy. I just wish they had a dipping sauce with it like I’ve normally gotten at other places like some sort of mint chutney or something. In the seating area downstairs, they had Ketchup on the tables. It should be illegal to have the ketchup with the samosa! But I may have tried a bit with the ketchup just because it was a bit dry to eat. Can’t wait to come back to try some of their sweeter goodies!

I went there today to get evening snack with my son. The staff was arrogant and absolutely no sense in handling a customer. Their veg puff was below standards. Their cashew and almond biscuits tasted good. I will not go back as the staff was not cordial.

My wife and I stopped in here for a treat on a recent trip to Edison. The young girl working behind the counter was very patient, and kind to suggest a few things. We ended up buying one potato stuffed croissant and one spicy chickpea. My gosh, they were perfectly buttery, and full of flavor. The chickpea in particular had a nice kick, sprinkled with crushed red pepper. What a wonderful blend of Indian and French pastries. Also left with a bag of assorted butter cookies(toasted coconut, pistatio, tutti frutti). The chai tea was rich, thick, with a delicate blend of spice. Another must-try are the apricot and almond paste filled cookies. Little bites of heaven, indeed :)

Cakes are good but staff is worst. Especially that South Indian guy at main counter is very rude and arrogant. I come to this place to buy cakes only. Because their food sucks. Their food used to be good long time back but now the quality has become worse. I hope owner change the arrogant staff soon and make better place to eat. Friends, go there for cakes only …

The veggie puff was soooooo tasty. I ordered a half dozen to take home. Madras coffee was authentic. I agree the cookies all taste similar, but that’s what cardamom cookies taste like! What do you expect.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars, unfortunately I can’t so I guess they get 1 star for their average pastries. I used to be a regular at this location, especially because they have eggless pastries, but after my last few visits I definitely will not be going back. When this location first opened, they charged $ 1.25 for their pastries, which was awesome because they were delicious and eggless(great for my mom who does not eat eggs). As this place gained popularity they raised their prices, which is fine but now they charge $ 2.50 for a single pastry which tastes mediocre, at best. Also, their staff is REALLY rude. The South Indian lady was especially disinterested in taking my order and when she gave me the wrong stuff and I went back to correct the mistake, she argued back with me and gave me an attitude when she had to give me money back. If you really dislike your job that much I suggest you work elsewhere. If you’re working in customer service, you should at least have the courtesy to treat your customers properly so they want to come back to your establishment. This wasn’t the first time the first time the staff was rude and I thought I would give this place another shot but I will definitely not be going back again. And I will be sure to tell my friends and family about my experiences here. There are many new places around Edison with better tasting pastries and resonable prices so I suggest other people go anywhere else but here.

The quality of this place is going down. The branch is Raleigh, NC serves excellent chicken puffs. Maybe the Nj chef should be sent there for training. Pineapple pastry was very dry. Not moist like what is available in India. Lot of American bakery items. Maybe they can reduce those and add some good quality Indian bakery items!

Despite the rude management, we used to be regulars here for good quality food. However, the quality has gone down the hill and the rudeness of the management gone up. This is a very reputed bakery back home and the Iselin franchise is definitely spoiling their reputation.

Ok looking bakery. Hardly any place to stand. No hospitality. All the display stands look empty. They don’t take credit card for take away. Seriously tat sucks. One star is for the vada they sell. Which is pretty good.

Horrible food and even worse service. You don’t feel welcome at all and on top of that the quality of the food is not at par with the typical hot breads store AT All. 0 stars!

This place sells fast food but the taste is horrible. Their breads are OK but never go for their fast food. Many of the menu items aren’t even available most days. On the top of that, we realized in our recent visit that the shop owners are dishonest. We purchased a $ 30 voucher through Amazon Local(LivingSocial) but when we went there, they charged us NJ sales tax of 7% and then additional 7% «tax» just for using the LivingSocial voucher. When I asked then what this second 7% tax was for, they just said it is for our«store». Shame on them for cheating their customers… first offering the coupon and then trying to recover some of the discount through back door in the form of store tax!!!

Absolutely poor. I ordered medium spiced veg panini and paid almost $ 8 and what I got was round bread w/extra spicy chutney and practically no filling; forcefully ate only half; I would have taken it back but my car gas was not worth their nasty bread sandwhich! Never eat here!!! Many desi fast food places around there are so much better and actually worth what u pay!

My husband and I wanted to make a visit to an old time favorite, so we decided to go to hot breads for a quick and tasty dinner. I have to say, for a joint that’s been there for so long, we expected them to be much more efficient. One of the guys behind the counter took our order and seemingly wrote every thing down(he wasn’t the most polite). I thought something was up when we had to repeat our order 3 times before he finished writing. Our order was for 1 dabeli(sandwich), 1 order of pani puri, 1 samosa chat, 1 chai, 1 coffee, and one chocolate mousse — came up to 18 dollars(please note that they only accept cash or check — no credit cards). We went to the seating area and waited for our order to be called. After about 5 – 10 minutes the first order was up — it was another 5 minutes or so before the next dish was ready. There seemed to be confusion when he prepared the third dish — he called us over for some other chat, but it was not what we had ordered — he asked what I ordered and I went down the list again. After we finished the savory food, we waited for our dessert, which was never called. I brought my bill up to the cashier and asked them for the dessert — they took a few more minutes, but we finally got it. This place really needs to implement a number system, where either you take a number which is connected to your order or they have order numbers printed on the bill when they give it to you. They should prep all of the items that you ordered and then call your number when it is all ready. Either that, or have someone bring the order to your table, though the other options would be easier for them. The number system would also make it a much more pleasant experience for the customer as they would not have to constantly get up while they were eating to go and get the next item they ordered. Most of what I am writing has to do with the service. Regarding the quality of the food, the samosa chat was tasty, but I have had better. The pani puri was sub par. The dabeli was decent, but had too much garam masala in it. The chai was tasty, but light. The madras coffee was good. The dessert was rich and not overly sweet. My husband and I will probably go elsewhere for the types of foods that we ordered. Their baked goods are hopefully still good — take out might be much less of a hassle.

This is the best Indian bakery in New Jersey that I have been to. We had ordered our first anniversary and our reception eggless cake from here. Very light and not so sugary frosting they also have a selection of indian fast food, fresh breads, cookies, stuffed puffs and a dining area. Clean and neat.

I used to enjoy the snacks at Hot Breads in Chicago and I was looking forward to a similar quality. However, the place is very disappointing. Food: Average The wrap and frankie were very badly made. The vada pav was only edible among the snacks I ordered. Good coffee. Worth the money? Not at ll Service: Very Poor The staff are very rude. They don’t take credit or debit card for payments.

Worst place ever… restrooms are so nasty, if u will use restroom, u will start vomiting and can’t stop for two days. I been there n used their restrooms, oh God, terrible smell and start vomiting at the same time n could not stop even after reaching home, bad w.r.t cleanliness, and the cake which we ordered for my birthday, was also terrible, lots of sweets in it n we ordered eggless cake because my cousin has allergies from eggs… staff said, your cake is eggless, but it was not, my cousin spent two days in hospital after that, It’s terrible place… Don’t go there ever…

It’s quite an attractive bakery and the display case begs for you to indulge. They have a nice seating area. I ordered a 1 pound box of assorted cookies. There were at least 2 dozen in the box. They ALL tasted the same. I left them in a common area where coworkers could get to them. They were not very popular. Even the local Indian friends of mine laughed when I told them where the cookies were from. I had to try the cupcake because it was so cheap. It tasted pretty bland. However, Hot Breads makes very nice stuffed breads. I enjoyed them all but didn’t feel compelled to go back for more.
