Great place to visit when you are in a mood for getting Korean-comfort foods. Ordered bibimbab, tofu soup, galbi, and yukgaejang. The plating of my bibimbab was nice, and it was very fulfilling. I liked the tenderness of my galbi, but would have enjoyed it more if the meat was less oily. I liked the ban-chan, and I really liked how they offered mixed-rice. The waitress was super nice. He wasn’t rushing at all even when we were being super indecisive. Unfortunately, however, I am not a much of a frequent flyer because the foods aren’t as good as I know if could be. The Korean food here could be better especially, considering the price that you are paying. Although they offer you 5% discount when you pay in cash, still, bit over-priced.

One of the best tofu place in NJ. Food is always good. Bulgogi is good, but price went up quite a bit.

Came here with my family for lunch recently and ordered a medium pork tofu soup and it was good. Definitely not the best soon tofu soup I’ve ever had, which was expected considering there aren’t many authentic Korean places in the area. Other people at the table ordered the kalbi, bibimbap, and rice cake soup. Everything was pretty good and the side dishes were ok. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area and want some decent Korean food. It’s also in a great location if you’re looking to make a stop at H Mart.

Their tofu soup is nothing compared to BCD Tofu House, but for a place in central Jersey, it’s a decent place. Especially the price for the soups. I’ve only tried the seafood pancake and the tofu soups here. I wouldn’t recommend the seafood pancake, it’s a little bit on the oily side. As for the tofu soups, I recommend getting the kimchi, mushroom, beef, or pork. I made the mistake of getting oyster my first time and it was way too fishy for my liking. For hot food lovers, their spiciest isn’t hot at all. It’s more salty if anything. The real complaint I have is the terrible service. I came here to eat with my two other friends. We decided to split the check in half, since one of my friends paid in cash and me and my other friend wanted to pay it on one card. We decided to put the tip all on the card for convenience, but we accidentally only tipped them for the amount on the check of the card(we tipped a little over 15% and we were off by 50 cents…). The old woman that works there chased after us as we walked out of the restaurant and made a big commotion about how we did not tip her enough… OKAY. We were 50 cents off of our whole bill and it was a mistake. Her English wasn’t that great and she kept saying«you didn’t pay.» For service THAT terrible, I give this place one star and am not going back here again.

Asian comfort food at it’s best. Everything is solid here but of course the tofu soup is the main attraction here. The kalbi is also good if you feel like having some meat along with your tofu. I have had better seafood pancake but the one here is not bad at all. There are other classic Korean offering as well such as Stone Pot rice and ginseng chicken soup. I never had anything disappointing here but then again, the main thing is that the tofu soups are awesome. Price is reasonable as well and if you pay cash you get a discount.

I always have the tofu soup and this is the first place I tried the ‘seafood pancake’ yum! This is on my List of places to go to every year when the weather gets cooler…

For whatever reason, So Kong Dong in Edison pales in comparison to its Ford Lee location. I love their soondubu and galbi but there’s a lack of flavor with both of them at this store. I almost always get the plain or kimchi tofu soup($ 10). My dad insists on getting the galbi($ 21) and my brother loves the seafood pancake($ 12 for the smaller size, still pretty large. ~9″?). The price is okay considering we get banchan too. However, the soondubu just doesn’t quite hit the spot. Also, the service is spotty too. I guess I offended one of the waitresses when I rearranged the banchan(I don’t eat fish and the fish cake was put in front of me). She gave a puff and rudely grabbed the fish cake and put it back in front of me. It’s not a deal breaker and I understand there’s an order with them but please, there is a rude and polite way to do things.

Oyster soondubu all the way! It used to be hard to find specialized Korean tofu houses without going all the way to Fort Lee or Bergen County, but now Edison is doing a great job with bringing that to Central Jersey. This place is basically known for their soondubu(tofu soups) at $ 10. You get a few options: what to put on it(beef, seafood, oyster only, mixed, etc.) and spice level. Then they have other appetizers and entrees to share such as kalbi, seafood pancake, japchae noodles, etc. Of course, the table will get side dishes as all Korean restaurants give. All soondubu dishes are also served with rice.

This place is spacious and tastefully decorated. There are plenty of tables, which is great for groups, but everyone still has their own personal space, which is nice. I got the vegetable soondubu with steamed vegetable dumplings. The dumplings were very tasty, although a little floury. The soondubu was very tasty — not too salty, and the heat was to my liking(I asked for hot: D). Plenty of mushrooms and tofu. The broth wasn’t too thick nor oily. I would come back if I am ever in the area again.

3.5 LOVE the tofu soup! The soup is good for the soul. After a long week of classes or a long day of studying or even on a casual day, I enjoy coming here to eat with my friends! Once being a regular here and having tried many of the dishes, I would recommend you to stick with their tofu soups! I really enjoy the seafood and clams, but they’re all quite delicious! I’ve tried the soup dumplings, and they are kind of bland. The kimchi pancake tasted mediocre as well and a little too oily. Only certain dishes are good, so watch out and choose carefully. Generally, the service is good, and the servers are friendly and attentive.

~love love love ~ Festival plaza is just an awesome place with H Mart and superb Korean food options. I love tofu house! Banchan is served after placing your orders. It’s about 7 or so small different dishes that are typical in Korean cuisine. Expect the ever popular kim chi, potato salad, radishes etc. Banchan makes for good nibbles before the main course, or consider it a type of appetizer. As its name implies, Tofu House is known for its infamous tofu soup. It comes with numerous options like beef, seafood, tofu, vegetables and a few others. You also get to customize the level of spice you would like in the soup. The highest I ever went so far is a 4 star, and that is pretty spicy for me, and on that note I have a high tolerance for spicy food. I would be curious to give the 5 star, which is also the highest, a shot, though I haven’t plucked up that courage yet. A friend of mine tried the 5 star and said it was bearable, just for the record. Another option I like is their korean dumplings with rice cake soup. Rice cake is very popular in Korea and they have it during special occasions such as the Lunar New Year. This is my go-to dish when I’m craving for a light version of Korean cuisine without all the spices. Despite being light it’s still very flavorful. And I love the dumplings that go with the rice cakes. As the portion is huge my tummy has always been happy and satisfied after this.

Less than average Korean food. Soondubu, which I would assume they specialize in, was just okay. I would not recommend this place, especially since there is a plethora of much better Korean food in Edison.

Just average. Their soup is not their standout, just a standard. The surprising dish was their stir-fry pork belly with kimchi… the firm tofu that was served on the side was delicious! Cut off a chunk with my chopsticks and dip it in the stir fry sauce– yummy! This is a place to come and eat and be satisfied, no exceptional culinary skills or presentations here.

DONOTEATHERE! I’ve eaten here a couple of times before and it was never too bad until this past Thursday. I had dinner with a friend around 8PM. I had the jap chae and he had the tofu soup. We only shared the side dishes not our main. We both felt fine. However, it was not until Saturday morning where we both experienced severe food poisoning symptoms. I woke up at 7 am puking for the next 8 hours until I was able to go to the doctor where he determined that I had a 103 degree fever. If it wasn’t for the medicine, my fever would’ve continued to increase in temperature and I would’ve had to go to the hospital. I am waiting on results to see what type of food poisoning I got but I highly suggest not eating here ever again. The fact that we ate separate foods means that there had to have been a mishandling of food or worse. Stay away!!! I am still experiencing symptoms thanks to this place.

This is an okay tofu soup place/Korean restaurant. I’ve been to So Kong Dong in Atlanta near my college(is SKD a chain?), which is delicious, so this location was pretty disappointing. It was fine… but nothing special at all. This is located right next door to H-Mart in Edison, and features a very nice, modern interior. I would say in terms of the look it would be a solid 4 stars: very neat and clean, bright look, spacious, great for having a meal with friends. The menu is also quite simple, with pictures and English. I ordered the vegetable tofu soup. Our sides came out pretty fast but they were very bland. I didn’t like the types of sides they served, and the taste wasn’t great either. As for my tofu soup, I found it lacking in flavor. It was hot and satisfying, but it didn’t have a great taste like tofu soup at most specialized tofu houses usually do. The soup was bland, which was the most disappointing because that’s the whole point of tofu soup. If you’re at H-Mart and craving tofu soup, sure give this place a try. But if you have a few minutes to spare, there’s a better Korean tofu soup restaurant just down the road called JSC.

This place is pretty good and the prices are very reasonable! I’ve had the clam clay pot and it was pretty tasty! I love being able to crack the egg into the pot and see it cook. People who are sensitive to the taste of MSG might be able to taste it since I had brought my dad once and he noticed it right away. I am the other hand don’t mind it and it’s a nice place to go especially on a cold day. It’s cute and quaint inside and the service was pretty good too!

Seating was quick. There are no grills so don’t except a BBQ. The meat didn’t have that addicting Korean sauce. The tea service was slow. I as thirsty for most of the time. Free sided dishes were great. I loved the kimchee and the pickled cucumbers. It also came with fish cake, salad with dressing and bean sprouts. Mushroom tofu soup(medium spice) — I was quite disappointed with this dish. The variety of mushrooms were limited and it didn’t give that strong mushroom kick to the soup. After mixing it with white rice, I ate a few tablespoons spoons of it and found it bland. It eventually started to have taste but I didn’t even eat ¼ of it. Usually I finish the whole soup even if I was full but for some reason I wasn’t head over heels for it. Their medium spice tasted like a mild. Vegetable pan fried dumplings — very upsetting compared to the pork dumplings. The skin seemed like wonton versus the meat dumpling being your typical clearish dumpling skin. You can see the difference from the pictures I uploaded. Not flavorful at all. I rolled it around the sauce from the kimchee in hopes for more flavor but it was still bland. Fake chopsticks?! I’m not a huge fan of those packaged wooden chopsticks because I got a splinter recently from it. What are the chances?!

I was quite looking forward to this restaurant as being such high reviews and also right next to Hmart. To be honest I think I might have set my expectation a little too high. Overall I would probably rate it bit higher than pure 3 stars but I find it difficult to give it 4. For me the best part of the meal was definitely the Galbi, they really marinated their meat well and portion was decent although I think they had bit too much onions with the meat. If that was the only thing I had might given it 4 stars. But SamGaeTang has always been one of my favourite Korean dishes and I was quite disappointed that they didn’t really deliver the quality I was looking for. To be fair the bowl was quite bigger than the normal chicken soup I gotten at other places but it tasted more bland than I thought, Especially the chicken it felt either overcooked and just didn’t have that flavor I was expecting. Quite a let down indeed The tofu soup was decent, I think I prefer the more smooth and silken tofu while the tofu here is bit more firm. I would still say BCD in Fort Lee and Manhattan is a better choice. The banchan selection was good, decent varieties and most taste pretty good as I have come to expect of a higher standard Korean restaurant: p Price was as expected, comparative to some of the places you find in Fort Lee or Edison. Overall I would definitely recommend their Galbi if you’re in the area shopping at Hmart.

Came here for some lunch. It is a nice spot to grab some Korean food. The menu is super simple and not many to choose from. I order the mushroom tofu soup. You can choose the level of spiceness in your soup. My mushroom tofu soup was boiling piping hot when it came out. Good mild taste. Lots of mushroom and tofu. Add some raw eggs for more depth into the soup. Add the side of rice so the rice can soak in the soup. It was a good flavored soup. The jap chae is a great option. Lots of flavor. Good portion size that will certainly will fill you up. Jap chae maybe one of my favorite noodle dishes. A nice causal spot to eat at. Food portions are big.
